Agreed; stinks that it didn't end up on one of the Capcom Classics Collections (along with 19XX).circuitface wrote:I know yall've played this one - just thought i'd start up a thread about it. I love this game to no end. It's very long and the graphics are awesome. I love the scoring system and the music is the shit. A great addition to the series.

Not only was it your 1944th post, but you resurrected your original post exactly 2 years ago to the day. Coincidence? BTW: I like this game even though most people here think its too hard...err I mean think the planes are "too underpowered".circuitface wrote:In honor of my 1,944th post i'm resurrecting this thread. Add one more person that is hooked on this game. I love the close range boss battles, especially the tank in the second level. Never thought I would appreciate a full vertizontal, but this game has won me over.
I grew up with 1942 and 43 and this game is a great evolution of those.

I kinda felt the same way. After playing 1943 (awesome), 1941 (awesome), and 19XX (awesome), I felt somewhat let-down by 1944, probably because it felt like a step backward. There's nothing wrong w/ a simplified game (I like a lot of old-school shmups that are no-frills), but in the context of the series it seemed out of place.gameoverDude wrote:If you don't expect another 19XX or 1941, then 1944 is still fairly good. I'm just disappointed that Raizing didn't do more with it. Not having a selection of planes ala Battle Garegga or 19XX is a downer. So is having to give up score for using wingmen.

It's okay. Feels very different from the others, in the sense that 19XX should be called 1944 and vice-versa. Feels different than other R/8 games too.
Lots of space to run around, feels like Takumi. But of course, just like how Raizing has it's horiverts, even Takumi has their vertical games. (Twin Cobra II, for example)

why is your avatar the fat kid from lunar?Opinion about 1944: Pure, unadulterated crap.
Thanks for listening.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
