Cool of Taito to consider the USA for it's all-English version of DB. You'd think that a bigger city location with more customers would make sense to have a location test, say like a popular arcade hangout in the Golden State of California.

Awesome to hear about the CPU specs that power up this DB arcade beast.

I wouldn't be surprised if DB made an special appearance at the upcoming 2012 California Extreme show...surely Taito knows about this premire arcade-show, right? Stern showed off their latest pins of Tron Legacy & James Cameron's Avatar at the past 2011 CAX show...so showing such new arcade shmup cabs wouldn't be out of the question. I suppose Taito would have to get in contact with the CAX staff in order for this to become a reality though. Anything's possible, just would have to get the right contacts for it to happen.

I think ours is JP.

Anyway, thanks for the info, I'll see if I can get Chi to find out if we have the same options available.

You have the same cab then, yes. Minus the backing piece.
If you look at the pics taken on the first page, we got one with the backing canopy intact. Why it was removed for your version, I don't know.

It could have been for easier access to the controls, but still it seems strange to remove it.
It helps remove some of the glare from the room and it's the perfect place to set up a camera for replays.

Some bizarre thing Taito decided to do, I dunno. :P

That info is correct except that there is actually only 1 machine in the US and 1 machine in Europe....currently. Taito only sent out 1 loctest unit per region initially. The machine in Italy is probably true as well as the 2 in Hong Kong, but there hasn't been any info at all on a second machine in the US. That could potentially change anytime though depending in the loctest results. :)

Update:

It would seem as of this writing, that the loctest is going pretty well and making some pretty decent amount of money. The arcade op seems to be quite happy with it so far and hasn't had any real issues. The machine should still be there for a couple weeks and then after that....well, guess we'll see.

Hope that Taito is happy with the final results as well when they are posted to them. But things seem to be going well for the moment, any support from the surrounding area will give DBAC the extra edge that it needs to do well in the final weeks.

Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best, DBAC needs a US release!! :)

Gasp, I wonder if one of these could make it's way to my local D&B or better yet, Arcade Legacy.

How much is a single play? It's 200 yen a credit here, which is what turned me off. I would have put some time into it the time I went and played it, but 200 a pop is too rich for my blood, unfortunately.

There was a loc test on the East coast before Adam got his at GameGrid. Is this machine from there? (Adam should know) Otherwise there are at least 2 in the US.

Yeah he's got that same machine. He mentioned that it didn't do so well there cause they had the subwoofer turned down (and other reasons)

Everything is set the way it should be over at the arcade here, and believe me.... the sub on this thing is incredible when it's set correctly.

I play DBAC every chance I get when I'm down there, it's such a good game! :D

Hello all!

Well the DBAC machine is still here and getting played fairly often. The owner of the arcade is thinking about getting a webcam set on it so you can watch people play from the site.

There is a chance we may be seeing an update in the future, as the guy from Taito said that he has been considering it for a little while. It would be nice to see it updated with the new bosses and ships! I'm especially excited to try the Genesis Silverhawk, as that is my absolute favorite Silverhawk of all time! I rock some G-Darius quite frequently actually. ;)

Anyone who is in the SLC area that hasn't seen it, should come and check it out sometime. It's quite the game and I can't recommend it enough to shmup fans. Quite the rarity out here!

Take care all, and maybe I'll see you at the arcade sometime. :)

If you have a local arcade that might possibly have the financial means/floor space to acquire this game, by all means let them know about it! The owners of the one around here had never heard of it, but showed great interest once they looked it up.

There are some influential arcades in California that'd be eager for some new shmup cabs. Would be interesting to learn the 411 that Taito has gleaned from the single DB cab test location here in the USA & what their ultimate decision is concerning distributing more of them stateside.

The arcade here said they don't have the money for Darius Burst, having just spent it on a slew of ticket redemption machines. They'd buy it if they could, though.
