i doubt it since the general development speed on OpenXDK has been quite slow as of yet and tbh, i'm not sure it'll get somewhere since the 360 homebrew scene is also stunted in the legal sense since it also uses illegally compiled xex binary files as far as I know. and there's more focus going into the JTAG scene now than anything else. either that or some of the earlier xbox coders (XPort for example) retired at some point in time.
Yeah, that really sucks. I checked SourceForge's page for OpenXDK and the last release for that was in 2009, so there's certainly not much faith in that sort of thing. Wishful thinking, I guess.

Wow, big thanks to all the people involved in this.

After rom hunting this afternoon (kept getting invalid CRC???) I've now got Ketsui, ESPgaluda and DDPBL running on the old work horse xbox - pretty amazing.

Just a quick question about FBAL 1.3
I tried it and is it me or is the slowdown on dodonpachi very very wrong? The game slowdowns a lot, even as the carrier ship leaves the screen (game beginning).
You can of course overclock the CPU but I don't know if that'll make the slowdown accurate.
I don't know about other games, but I think I've seen others slowdown too much, not sure. Maybe it's just my setup, though.

working great overall for me. only issues i'm having are that my ddp3 rom won't load while my ddp3blk rom will and that it crashes when i save/load state or screenshot on batrider eu rom where it didn't in 1.3.

Full auto is on in Ketsui, DDP Daioujou and ESPgaluda, but so far I haven't been able to access the service mode for older Cave games. In mame with Dodonpachi you hold the service button for a few seconds and you can set the C button etc - but the way Final Burn is set up you can't keep the service button pressed.

Also, you can't map the A button to multiple stick buttons and have one set to auto. All the buttons mapped to A will have auto... Weird macro button settings. Still, I'm not complaining

Final Burn Legends 1.666 Released.

Ported to xbox by +T+

info.
This latest build of FBL has taken a lot longer to be released than I originally planned. This is due to the fact that FB Alpha has become very active again lately, with no less than five updates in the last few weeks, and the extra time has been spent updating the FBL codebase with these changes. This release is based on FB Alpha 0.2.97.12 which is actually one release behind the PC version but since this build was completed I decided to release it now rather than push it back yet again while I implement the changes in 0.2.97.13. The next build will be based on the latest FB Alpha version, but at least this way I don't feel under so much pressure to get it done.

Please see notes below the changelog for installation and other important information.
Image
What's New:

- Updated emulator core to FB Alpha 0.2.97.12; many driver fixes and added games. See official changelogs and DATs for details.
http://www.barryharris.me.uk/

- Optimized updated code for Xbox. (thanks to kenshiro)

- Improved speed in new Irem drivers. (thanks to iq_132)

- Performance boost in Ketsui, DoDonPachi 3, and EspGaluda.

- Added Guwange (Special Version). (thanks to JackC)

- Added option to select new NeoGeo BIOS file.

- Added analog controls to games that use them. (Out Run, etc.)

- Reduced default controller deadzone to make analog controls more responsive.

- Fixed DIP switches and region settings in CPS1, PGM, Toaplan, and Psikyo games.

- Fixed controls in the following games:
Moonwar
Angel Kids (use both thumbsticks)
Forgotten Worlds (rotate with L & R)

- Re-fixed item button in CPS Mega Man games

- Patched out long hardware test in Ghouls'n Ghosts.

- Fixed Devil World.

- Improved default screen sizes.

- FBL Extras package updated to include screenshots and marqueesfor added games.

- FBL Extras package now includes title shots as well.
NOTES:
- This version requires a CLEAN INSTALLATION. If you just copy the files over an earlier version you will most likely experience problems. Please only report issues if you are running a clean install.

- The ROM set in FB Alpha 0.2.97.12 has been updated to match MAME 0.143u8. Use the DATs provided in the tools\ folder to check you have the correct sets.

- A good note from the original author is worth repeating:
RELEASE THE SOURCE! Don't take mine or anyone else's work and not release the source. Everyone should get to benefit and future developers should be able to improve the code whenever current development stops.
Many thanks to:
- nes6502 for his excellent Xbox port of FBA.

Final burn legends 1.7
ported to xbox by +T+
This is just a small update to fix some games that were broken in 1.666. Thanks to gamez fan for bringing them to my attention.

+ T +
What's New:

- The following games were broken in 1.666 and have been fixed:

Bonk's Adventure
Blaze On
1000 Miglia
Mille Miglia 2
Explosive Breaker
The Berlin Wall
Magical Crystals
DoDonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou (Black Label)
Knights of Valour 2
Knights of Valour 2 Plus
you have to copy final burn legends 1.7 over the top of 1.666.

so with this release all the pgm shmups now play that bit better and fantasy zone 2(16 bit ps2 remake from sega ages) is playable.
also you can play the time attack version of fantasy zone from the ps2 remake).
you can also access the dipswitches in the pgm shmups and there are a lot of new games now playable.

I wish someday Final Burn gets ported to Wii as efficiently as on Xbox, it would be nice to play these games on 240p. There are versions of FB for PSP, I can´t imagine getting it to run on a Wii would be too difficult. Perhaps there is a general lack of interest for that.

Cool, so the default settings in the PGM games now match those of the PCB's? Let's hope these changes find their way into the 360 FBA as well. 8)

The Wii's hardware is pretty limiting, part of this is why the current versions of MAME available for it debunk the theory that MAME can be run on anything short of a toaster when it comes to performance.

I imagine it'd be the lack of interest - the Wii would be an excellent platform for a working port of FBANext/ Final Burn Legends but the community for Wii homebrew is very different compared to the PSP/X360/PS3 homebrew community and short of a completely redesigned interface and being idiotproof I suspect it would'nt be fully appreciated by the community (however I would greatly appreciate it :D).

Yes you're right. They don't run to well. I actually thought they maybe worked better in FBL 1.5... but I'm probably wrong. DOJ Black Label also doesn't want to work with the new rom. Still, it's getting there.

I wonder if it's humanly possible to one day play the SH3 games on the old xbox?

Judging by the problems they are having getting these running on xbox 1 I doubt it. They are having troubles running sh3 on ok spec pc's at the moment (although that is under mame which is always slower than other emus).

Final Burn Legends 1.8
by +T+
Though the changelog appears small in this release, the core update brings a huge number of improvements and additions; most notable is that several games that previously did not have sound now have sound fully working including some excellent Toaplan shooters (Batsugun, Dogyuun, V-Five, etc.). There are new games added as well, also the Pacman driver has had a major overhaul and all games on this driver now display in their correct vertical orientation. This also includes the changes from FB Alpha 0.2.97.13, check out the official changelogs for full details.

Image
What's New:

- Updated emulator core to FB Alpha 0.2.97.14; many games added and/or
improved. See official changelogs for details.
http://www.barryharris.me.uk/

- VMM added to Tecmo driver by iq_132. Games now working:
Deroon DeroDero
Toukidenshou - Angel Eyes

- Fixed Penguin Brothers.

- Added option to highlight non-working games in ROM list.
Notes:
I've packaged this as an upgrade from either FBL 1.7. Just copy the included files over your existing installation and it should work fine. However, a clean installation is always recommended. (i.e. install FBL 1.666 and then overwrite with 1.8)

Thanks to:
The usual thanks go to everyone on the FB Alpha team.

Thanks as always to +T+ and the final burn alpha team.

Stupid question: you referring to the Xbox or actually running Final Burn Alpha on your PC with better performance than MAME? I own a legacy PC with a Pentium III machine and was curious if you've had performance improvements using FBA compared to MAME.

I'm talking about my PC. The performance improvement is enormous. Batsugun on the MAME version that supports it with sound is basically unplayable in this PC, too slow, while on the latest FBA (029715 I think) it's full speed even with Auto Frameskip off.

That's more to do with the 100% accurate priority mixing that was added in MAME than the sound..

I don't think FBA has that

ok ok :| .. so it's just matter of a discrete option on the mutiples pages of coinops to get Tate display & controls.

couldnt get a short size coinops4 to test Ketsui or big recent shmups (raiden fighters lacks 128mb on coinops3..). ketsui runs good apparently on finalburn legends 1.10 ( but damn there is NO tate mode  )

so for old shmups coinops runs quite good.. but there are difficulties to get fullscreen for good (XXmission has a 16/9 ratio, etcc), load of old shmups have overscan so i cannot see the scores/lives. and couldnt find yet the correct "scanlines" choice on screens display... :? not much talk on google search about this... do people really play coinops or just stockpile their roms ?!

Am I just being silly, has anyone got any version of Final Burn Legends to save any Hi score. I am now running V1.10 and have gone in to the options once the game has loaded and turned on Hi score saving but nothing.

Tried a few games including Progear, batsugun and 3 wonders with no hi scores being saved.

has anyone managed to get fba legends to save any score and if so which version are you running and which game saves
