This also means that I'll probably be taking more of a support role as far as meets go, since I can't exactly be playing in the arcade while on duty.
In other news, I'll probably arrive at the store around 3-4pm tomorrow, and play for a few hours.
That's awesome marus! Well maybe someone can cover for you on the meet days at least to get your run on the tournament game in. And party once the store closes like last time
See some of you tomorrow then!

Great news! Also, sorry I couldn't come. I was at a friend's party, showing him how to chain DDP.
Hey, so I have a favor to ask of you guys. Would anyone with photoshop/design skills be willing to make a flier for the next meet? It would need to have the date & time of the meet, as well as advertise the tournament. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help with this, since I have like zero design sense.
It was fun seeing some of you guys last Saturday, I'm looking forward to the upcoming tournament. I also have zero design skills so I can't help you out on the flier, but I think creating one is a great idea.
I too, know jack about designing fliers and whatnot. Good luck though, you seem to be putting a lot of effort to advertising the event. We could do another facebook thing like the 1st meet at the very least, or on craigslist too like Bobby suggested before.
Well at the very least I'll have a whiteboard with the details for the next meet, as well as the current rankings once that gets started. A facebook page would be good too, and Paublo said that he'd like to have events advertised on the PG site as well. I might just make a simple flier if I can't find anyone else to do it - even if it's ugly, at least it'll help spread the word.
i'm new here and all but i'd love to swing by the one on the 27th, as i just happen to be visiting from canada and also just happen to be wanting to stop by pink gorilla while i'm here. it seems like a fun time, and although i might not participate in the competition, it'd be cool to meet and greet and all that.
me and my girlfriend do graphic work and we might be able to help with a flier - PM me with all the info (so i can keep track of it easily) and i'll see what i can cobble together in a couple days!
Hey guys, sorry for my lack of participation of late but I've been busting ass to try to remodel the back room at PG among many other projects. Hopefully that will be squared away before the tournament! As for posting it on Facebook, I really want to get on top of that ASAP but had been holding off since I was strongly considering switching the PG Arcade group to a "page" and didn't want to have to double-spam people with the invite. If I end up letting it linger too long, someone (Paul?) nag me and I'll get on it. I've been juggling tons of stuff lately and it's always hard to keep track of what's most important at any given time!

Yay! I probably won't be getting very high on the scoreboards, but no matter - the better this tournament gets and the more people it attracts, the happier I am.
I got the Pink Gorilla Arcade "fan page," which I'll be using for event announcements from now on, set up. Those of you who haven't switched over yet can do so here:
Thanks for setting up all of the facebook stuff Bobby. Also, it's nice that the back wall is finally getting torn down. The new paint is looking good so far, and I think we're all looking forward to what the extra space will do for the arcade!
renardqueenston, I sent you a pm about the flier. Thanks for volunteering to help, I really appreciate it!
Actually, the back wall isn't getting torn down, much to my dismay. But we are going to have the back as usable space, with the door either propped open or taken off completely. The last hold-up right now is that we're waiting for a new door to arrive that I'll be installing in the back-back wall in order to get big games inside in the future.
Whoa holy shit, that's awesome! Thanks for getting that made!
I'll post the full event on Facebook soon, I just want to give it a few more days for people to move over to the page from the previous group.
Also we officially have a Facebook "vanity URL" -- http://www.facebook.com/PinkGorillaArcade. That URL should probably be the one used on all promo stuff in the future, since the website is totally dead despite claims that it will be revived. That has been the claim for like 6+ months and hasn't happened yet (I've offered to take it on.. was ignored, of course) so I'm not holding my breath.
i'll try to make it to this upcoming meet, I finally went and checked out the arcade a week ago and played some DoDonPachi while picking up a game...was excellent. Any chance the classic Raiden could be in a cabinet at the next meet?
Hmm, programming project due, and a midterm#2 in another class await me in the following monday after thanksgiving weekend
I'm trying to get stuff done earlier cause I really want to go to this meet, but no guarantees depending on how screwed I think I am for that following week.
Yeah, I have two big papers due a little after the meet. I'm trying to get as most of it done as I can now so I can relax next weekend. Hopefully we'll be able to see you there.
Btw, if you haven't seen on the facebook page, we're having a special Bemani day today at the arcade - half price on all BEMANI games, and Bobby will have some cool stuff to raffle off too! There's also going to be starting a new ranking battle system for Super Turbo, if you're interested.
Yeah I was thinking of going to that, but like next week, I'm neck deep in shit to catch up with. Being farther away than you guys sure doesn't help either. So are you organizing a fighting game tournament there too? You guys should have some official meetups there too, since that community is much larger than this one anyways, they'd get great turnout if every candy was running a fightan game. Soon enough every niche arcade gaming community will their meetups at PG, provided there exists a fanbase around here for it
The level of competition won't be as high without you, that's for sure. I'm looking forward to next weekend, my girlfriend is out of town so I don't have any reasons to leave early this time

They're actually being organized by another guy on SRK. Whether we would have any bigger "official" meetups at PG would depend on whether people want to, but it's kind of hard because there's already many other gatherings and tournaments that go on in Seattle, and unless we can somehow find PCBs we can't really have any of the newer & bigger games here.
Only one more week to go! Be thankful for danmaku this Thanksgiving (among other things, I hope).
Any of you going to be in the arcade in the last few days leading up to the tournament? I need an excuse to get out in the snow for a while.
Also, don't expect me to show off a DDP 1cc at the meet. I am so tired of the first three stages that just thinking about them gives me a headache. I don't play a game if I'm not enjoying it, so I've moved on to ESP Ra.De. (which is awesome, btw).
I'm there randomly in between classes. I'll also be working this Friday, so feel free to stop if you want (and buy something, we have hella sales going on).
Btw, I forgot to ask earlier, but is anyone going to bring any consoles/equipment? I'll probably be driving this time, so I could bring my lcd monitor along with my 360 and stick, but it'd be easier if someone else brought something to lighten my load. Or should I even bother bringing my 360 at all?
oh yeah forgot to mention I can't bring anything as I'll be coming down from Bellingham and needing to ride buses, so I'll be packing light, if anything at all.
I was going to request a copy of DOJ, but if you're packing light, I can get it somewhere else (and I don't think we can trade pirated copies in-store anyway).
