360 version finally patched! I can't say I'm sorry to see the end of the care package glitch and the ridiculously overpowered 1887 shotgun.

Sadly, no- I will not. I hope alot of people pass on the levels as well. $15 is too much- especially considering that Overgrown/Crash are straight ports. They played well in COD4- but they may not behave the same way in this one. I have a feeling 2 out of the 3 new maps are good- and at least one of those won't be put in heavy rotation.

Coupled with the way Activision has been treating it's employees and the way they've (and IW to an extent) handled the last few months of this game- I'm saving my money. I ran into a care package nuke the other day. Game ended at 1300 to 400- the people with 400 won (nuke). While I will admit- some of the 'hacks' are pretty fun (super speed was neat)- this game has alot it did terribly wrong.

For the record- I have something like 8+ days into this game. I do like *most* of it- but honestly 4 and WaW did some things much much better (I.e. Beta test, stat tracking). I'll take someone hiding in a rock any day of the week over someone who can jump over buildings and is in god mode.

Back to the sadly part- I was really looking forward to the map pack. The initial word I got was that the pack was to have one extra Spec Ops set, the possibility of another weapon or two, and 5 levels for $15. That certainly would have made things a bit more palatable than just the levels.

(also- before anyone brings up Halo's map packs- 3 for $10- those were an f-in rip off back then and I didn't like it (bought one- waited for the Map disc to come out with ODST)- though Bungie did the remake level portion just right).

If the maps turn out to be good, I'll get it whenever it goes on sale, but not before then.

I probably won't buy the map pack since bad company 2 has been taking up my time and i've been going back to COD4 on the ps3.

I bought the map pack for COD4, and I'll never do that again. Maybe this time they'll actually allow all the maps in all the playlists.

Though I've only started playing the console version of MW2, I can't see myself needing any more maps on that platform.

Much preferred to the extra hit needed by the G3...even with the extra recoil. Oddly enough, I never could adjust to the lack of recoil on the G3. It just didn't feel right. Now, the vertical kick on the M14? That felt good.
I know exactly what you mean. The M14 was my favorite weapon for a long time in CoD4 but I eventually moved on to the M40A3. I never liked sniping, and found camping not only cheap but so utterly boring. Eventually after over 200+ hours of online time though, I began to grow bored of the M14, it felt so easy. I wanted to switch to the M40A3 because I wanted to learn how to quickscope. It was awesome, it made the whole game feel fresh again, it was actually challenging for a while. The best part was that I was running around maps like Vacant and shipmentwith close quarters and people would have uzi's and MP5s and yet I could shoot ehm faster than they could kill me, face to face, and I had a sniper rifle. No camping, I could quickscope like a pro after only a few weeks of practice, and it was easy again.

Then came no scoping, but that was bleh. Sure, there is some skill there but also a lot of luck and I don't like that. ANyways, I played CoD4 for well over 300+ hours online by the time Modern Warfare 2 came out, and well, after adjusting to MW2 I can say that I hate it. I've actually gone back to CoD4, there's still a huge community, and the best part is that all the casual players moved on the MW2, so most games of COD4 now are full of veterans and that alone makes it worth playing :)

Vyxx: heh, I had pretty much the same story but ended up using mostly M14(always silenced) and hadn't played it for that long. I switched between M40 and M14 a lot though, especially on FFA. Used ACOG M40 every once in a while too. I played mostly HC SnD though and there when not using M14 I used M40 every once in a while on broadcast and overgrown.

I dont think I'll play MW2 anymore, will play CoD4 every once in a while along with BFBC2.

Damocles: huh? they were on pretty much all modes, even old school etc. Chinatown didn't have sabotage though. Thats not counting killhouse which IMO is a horrible map for anything other than private games, even on FFA you can spawn facing someone & get spawnkilled.

Indeed. Unfortunately, I play TDM and HCTDM almost exclusively. As such, I've never played Killhouse.

Kill house was fun- but I purchased that silly map pack for 4 and hadnt played it until right around the time I stopped playing 4 for a bit. Only when we started messing with private matches (FFA pistols on that tiny little level and team pistols on Killhouse was fun). Essentially- for months I had paid $10 for 2 multiplayer maps- and Chinatown got voted away I'd say about 75% of the time I saw it come up. Boiled down to 1 map that got played- $10 O.o

I hope people realize this new map pack is probably going to be similar. I will admit- I like the idea of new maps to change things up- but $15 is goofy considering that only a few will be played for a bit. I really hope they make a "Game of the year edition" disc with both "expansion" packs on it- then I can snag one used at X-Mas time for a couple of bucks and be happy :P

And wow-

From what I hear- there is no TDM or FFA in the new map sets (for now). I'm assuming that they will make rotation in the other modes soon enough- but here comes the problem.

COD4 style- or WaW style? (COD4- maps wouldn't show if someone didn't have them- WaW- you'd get booted last second if you didn't have them so they got voted).

Man- these companies need to learn splitting the user base is a bad idea and kills the product. I've heard it several times- maybe give away maps and such for free- if they want to charge for something- sell guns or camos or something.

As a PC gamer I can't even begin to fathom the idea of trying to charge for something the community can whip up just as well for free.

That's one of the things that bugs me. I understand with MW2- there are no way to add levels via regular means.

I purchased World At War for PC- $20. Got all the free updates. At the time- the Xbox 360 one was still $40/50. And the updates would be $30. Blows my mind O.o

Maybe I'm just an old fart. I remember when $19.99-29.99 was a good expansion pack!

Shipment is much the same way, dear god, the crates man, THE CRATES.

I kind of cut my teeth on Killhouse. Fun map indeed. That's where I learned to dread the sound "plink plink."
