My second reacion is to set fire to some NES systems /and/ some NES BC carts, and add a healthy number of Ninja Gaiden carts to the mix - a similar crime which is still unpunished.
ironically i did just pick up both these original arcade boards from dragon, i never knew how different the games were when made for the NES.

i've only got one NES to burn...

Shit I forgot about him. Wonder what he's doing over the last few years after he left SNK (in other words, which games he supply art covers for)?
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Chou Makaimura R
Final Fight One
Goku Makaimura
Gun Survivor 3: Dino Crisis
Gun Survivor 4 Biohazard: Heroes Never Die
Psi-Ops

And some miscellaneous stuff for Capcom Design Works Early Days and Street Fighter Eternal Challenge artbooks.

Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins has the benefit of much more interesting art design. It's just the nature of the games... a cave filled with lava and a demon with a mouth in its stomache will always look better than steel girders and guys in uniforms.
That's why the best Bionic Commando so far is the GB one. (NOT Elite Forces - the other one)

And they have, so I don't see the issue you apparantly see. I can understand not liking the style, but there most certainly is a consistent style here and it's solid both artistically and technically. No matter what you think of the end result, they didn't cut corners to get there.

Bloody hell you'd think in this day and age they would uncensor it and just call it the original Japanese name of 'Top Secret: Resurrection of Hitler', I reckon it would create a huge buzz

And if they just want to cash in on the brand they could just replace Top Secret with Bionic Commando and keep the sub title.

And after 21 years, the mistery is solved: They weren't paying homage to the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker classic ;)

Uncensor? What about the arcade version? Also, maybe they just don't want to sound like this piece of crap:

"Master D" always has been and always will be the baddest rap name Hitler ever had. I cannot object to such genius.

I hope he still calls you a "damn fool" in this one. ^^

Well, it looks pretty good to me. I've never really played the original much at all, nor have I played the arcade version almost any(I have it one of those compilations).

As mentioned earlier, it does remind one of Contra: SS.

Maybe now is the time to give it a shot? Well, I guess i'd have to get a 360 first...but that's coming soon.

It comes out tomorrow. Who's picking it up? I'm completely hyped after reading some of the reviews. Probably my most anticipated XBLA game for the year. Shame the multiplayer modes are offline, but at least they're there for local play.

I noticed this while just playing it for a bit. It doesn't seem consistently throughout the parts I played though. Only in certain areas for some reason.

At any rate, this game is great thus far. It's challenging and just has tons of content. Even the menus look great! The achievements look to be fun as well.

Japanese store has a free demo.
pretty cool although (combined with the the sprite hit detection) when you fall on enemies it gets a bit weird.
nice extra's in the demo as well, worth the odd 300 mb something dl.

I'm loving it so far - Just about to finish my first playthrough. I'm having a bit of trouble on the Albatross.

This game is one hell of a bargain at $10.
This is not similation. Get ready to destoroy the enemy. Target for the weak points of f**kin' machine. Do your best you have ever done.

I heard the PS3 version doesn't have tearing. I downloaded the Japanese demo from the PSN store as well. Played through it rather well, but I gave up on the second challenge stage after 65+ consecutive tries.

The first training stage is very difficult. I think they should have made the snapping system a bit more forgiving like for instance Super Castlevania 4's. And why not include a jump button as well, just for the heck of it?
I also find it annoying that when you grab a barrel, the animation takes so long so you get shot. Still, I should play more to form any opinions on this. I aplaud this remake.

If you do a search, PS3 version has tearing as well. But it seems like some people are seeing it and others aren't. However, it's not consistently throughout the game. It's only in certain areas for some reason. Definitely not effecting my overall love for the game, but it is odd that it's there.

What difficulty are you playing on? Medium is a breeze. I started over on Hard last night and it's a major difference. Took me forever to complete the first stage. Stage 4 boss is giving me one hell of a time now. I can't imagine what Super Hard is going to be like once I unlock that.

Jump button? Are you serious? It encourages use of the arm mechanic. A jump button would completely defeat the whole point of the game. I realize it feels weird not being able to jump at first, but once you get used to the arm the game just clicks.

I'm loving this game to pieces myself. XBLA game of the year for me.

I didn't mean a jump button to jump 5 meters into the air, but more like a jump as seen in elevator action returns. But I guess that's what seperates this game from all other platformers, no jumping abilities.
