Thank yooou! :)

I'll have to check that out when I fly to AZ with my mom later this month. (Watch it be replaced by some deer hunting game by the time I get there.)

The only other machine I remember seeing here is at Roller Garden indoor roller/inline skating rink in New Hope, MN. It's a Raiden Fighters (2? I'm not certain) machine, amongst the wall of lockers in the resting/changing area to the side of the skating floor. I've probably mentioned it before, since I saw it a year or so ago.

I forgot to mention the arcade room is located sort of between concourse C and D, and has the title "Aurora Borealis". Also, you'll want to use the 1P. The 2P seems to be stuck on 4 way directional, as I couldn't do any diagonal movements :? .

Thanks again! I thought about asking of the location, but I wasn't sure if you'd remember. 8)

Hopefully it'll be near where my gate will be, but if it's not too far then I wouldn't mind going for a quick jog there, play, photo, and jog back. :)

Ah, I'll remember that! That probably counts an awkward double-play out, which I didn't even consider until now. (As if these games aren't challenging enough already.)

Fun n Games in Framingham Massachusetts has at least one shmup machine. I haven't been there in over a year so I don't know which it is specifically. I plan to head back there some time this summer to see. All I remember is it was fun.

Just started classes at SFSU (grad program) and the bad news is they got rid of bee storm....the good news is that they replaced it with ESPgaluda 2!! I'd say that's a fair trade, as I hadn't had the chance to play it yet. Unfortunately the difficulty is set at 4 (very hard). That isn't the default is it?

You're probably out of luck, but if it makes you feel any better there aren't that many arcades on the West side of Washington either. :(
GameWorks, Acme Bowl, Tacoma Narrows, Seattle Waterfront... Unfortunately, as far as shmups go, a wasteland.

Maybe someone can just make a list of the best arcades to go to in Japan for shmups? So far the best place I've found is Hey in Akihabara. I'm also trying to see if I can find any 24-hour game centers... Hopefully they aren't just an urban legend.

They had the original Espgaluda there a while back, and it didn't last very long. Sadly this probably will be gone soon too.

And they always set the difficulty higher, and the points for extends too.

E-spot?

There are loads of candy cabs there (according to them, 200+ machines total), but I've only been there once due to me living south of the border, so I can't account for what shmups are there. You may want to check it out though.

Some more Minnesota locations:

Buffalo Wild Wings in Roseville, MN, of HarMar Mall had a Hot-Dog Storm machine in it last time I checked... 3 years ago? Maybe I'll go and get some wings and find out.

Also, Flaherty's, which possesses the Raiden Fighters Jet machine I have many high scores on... I'm LWS if you ever check it out. It's an arcade / bar / bowling alley, the arcade has DDR, Soul Calibur 2, and Raiden Fighters Jet, as its highlights. In Arden Hills, MN.

I'll get to my bud who mentioned he saw a shmup in some casino and see where he saw it exactly.

This site lets you see what games are in what arcades through most major areas in Japan:

http://am.ge-sen.com/

Awesome site. You have to be able to input Japanese for the game titles, though.

Funworld (Nashua NH) has the original Zero Gunner, one of the Strikers 1945 games, and a few new-ish games like Ghost Squad, Maximum Tune II, and even Time Crisis 4.

I went today, and all i could find at CHQ now is:

- Mushihime-sama Futari 1.5
- Raiden III

I didn't check the 50(?)-game multi-select machine though. :P

Edit 3-Nov-07:

I'm in the Ontario, California area; about 40 miles east of Los Angeles.

Cal Poly Pomona has a nice clean game room arcade with Strikers 1945 III, and they just got in Mushihimesama this quarter (!)

There's James' Games in Upland, they've got ESP Ra.De, Strikers 1945 III and Raiden Fighters.

Also Super Arcade, around the corner from Cal Poly has Strikers 1945 III and Raiden Fighters Jet.

Anyone in my area know where I can play MushiFutari 1.5? ;[

I finally checked out most of the arcades in Richmond (Greater Vancouver). These are all within walking distance of each other.

Aberdeen Centre Arcade (~10 candy cabs):
- Mazinger Z

RUSH Online (~12 candy cabs):
- NO shmups :(
- [Guilty Gear XX]

ESpot Billiards & Cafe (~50 candy cabs):
- Strikers 1945 III
- Strikers 1999 (yes, 1 of each)
- Vasara
- Zero Gunner 2

RPM Game Center (~20 candy cabs):
- Karous
- [Melty Blood: Act Cadenza]

I was surprised that out of the zillion candy cabs in those huge arcades, there was not one Cave title.

I only know of 3 shmups in my area. 3 different laundromats have Truxton 2, Raiden DX, and 1942. That... is all I know of... though I have been trying to get an arcade called Time Out (Namco sponsored I think) to get something. Maybe Giga Wing...

I'm out here too, and it's sort of a void. The bowling alley here on base had Raiden Fighters 2, UN Squadron, and a couple other things I can't remember, but they're gone for now, sitting in a warehouse, waiting for the contract to get renegotiated so they can come back to me (and the other people on base but they don't care).

In the Spokane area, there's two arcades I know don't have any (Wonderland and Bumpers) but there's a couple other places around town that I'm planning on scoping out. I doubt there's anything quality, but it's worth a shot I guess.

Looks like MAME and console ports are the order of the day here.

I remember browsing not long ago and reading someone's post about knowing about or owning an arcade (with shmups) in Florida? I'm going to Miami in like two weeks. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I found some more shmup cabs in the wild. Only problem is that they're a at a really trashy weird shopping center place. It's called B&I in Lakewood, WA.
Half of the machines don't work, but it's still the best arcade I've seen since I was a kid. Here's some of the shmups -

Raiden
Raiden DX (wasn't taking tokens  )
Aero Fighters (screen was really dark)
1942
1943
Space Invaders
Gradius (screen was really messed up, unplayable)

The Atlantis Casino's Fun center used to have Kenchan's G. Darius and Gradius IV up, but he's selling 'em due to financial troubles on his end. Used to have my RSG up as well (which made more money in one month than that cabinet's previous tenant, Guilty Gear Isuka, had ever made :3), but we swapped that out for a MVS.

Currently, besides the random stuff on Ultracade, the only shmup that's there is Twinkle Star Sprites. If the 6-slot doesn't get sold we'll throw that back in and possibly Blazing Star as well.

Cal-Neva casino in Downtown Reno has RFJet.

Western Village casino in Sparks has Strikers 1945 Plus in a MVS, with a broken 1P side. 2P works great though.

There's also a mini-golf place (Magic Carpet Golf) close by that has Raiden II, don't they they'll ever get around to fixing it though.

(I only bring up that place because they have hydraulic motion OutRun and Space Harrier cabs. :D )
