CPS 2 is great for shooters, but a 2 D hand drawn shooter with 3rd Strike quality artwork doesn't interest you in the least?
I think that's more dependant on the artists than just mere hardware specs. Games like Deathsmiles for example run in better hardware but I still vastly prefer the visuals of something like In the Hunt. Mars Matrix looks ugly because the developers wanted it to look like that, Dimahoo or 19XX looked nice enough.

PGM hardware seems pretty similar to the CPS-2 imo, look at Knight of Valour series or Demon Front for example. The Cave games are pre-rendered because of a developer decision, just like Mars Matrix.

but how to ignore?
Okay, not really ignore, but resist it; don't scratch.

I want the TATE mode.
Thanks.
The PS2 collection is basically the existing PS1 Strikers I & II ports crammed onto one disc with added audiovisual issues. By default you're better off with the individual Japanese PS1 releases. The Agetec NTSCU version lacks TATE so that's a no-go.
IIRC, the best home version of Strikers overall is the Saturn version. Full TATE + Tateyoko modes and less (maybe no?) slowdown. For Strikers II it's the PS1 game that runs smoother, though it's nowhere as close to arcade PCB as the first Strikers' Saturn port. Still pretty fun in isolation.
I defend the PS1 NTSCU port of Strikers II because a) it's usually cheap, and b) despite lacking tate, you get the full "flavor" of the game anyhow. The PS1 port's "Original Mode" (aka yoko) advertises itself as "rebalanced for yoko", and I presume this was done by Psikyo themselves, so you are not getting some awful Mobile Light Force BS, that's for sure.
Oh yeah, on its own merits it's still far from a bad pickup. Was actually my Gateway Shump into Psikyo's ultra-concise pacing. Agetec were a godsend for non-importers back in the late 90s/early 00s... lots of fighters, shooters, From Soft and miscellaneous goodies localised in generally fine form (certainly no Working Designs Bullshit™ in their NTSCU R-Type Delta).
Shame about the blanket ban/cultural aversion to TATE in NA/PAL PlayStation releases. At least NTSCU Raiden Project technically allows it via Gamesharked controls.
What is the highest scoring Espgaluda replay that's publicly available? I could find a 56m run from Tvspelsfreak, do one of you happen to know of a video with an even greater score?
how do I get the rank bar in full screen tate mode in much much pork (x360). I go to display settings and status window but Y and X doesn't do anything
2500k seems like a pretty popular sweet spot, but you can go lower than that pretty safely if you're streaming at 30fps, below 720p, or both. (And with older low-res games, there's not a huge benefit to streaming at a high resolution, anyway.)
Flashier games can really destroy the encoding visual quality even at high bitrates, though.
Arrange modes. So 8ve not played a newer shmup for quite a while now. Just plugged the PS2 and 360 back in and I know all the CAVE titles have arrange modes. Bearing in mind I've been to the last boss on several games - Resurrection, Akai Katana, Futari (both modes) but never finished one, are any of the Arranges worth trying difficulty wise? I can't switch to novice modes, that's the ultimate in suckered, but I'm sure I remember reading that a few arrange modes were supposed to be somewhere in between?
Espgaluda II's Omake mode is extremely easy for survival but still fun. Deathsmiles 1.1 (and MBL 1.1) has plenty of fans, though it's basically designed with a dual-analog controller in mind. I think Ketsui X Mode is sorta fun but I'm not sure how many other people share the same opinion.
To add to the OBS question, I bumped my bitrate up to 4500 with a buffer of 4200 to get a consciently smooth 30fps at 720p, without the nasty blurring that was affecting my previous uploads.
However, its got to be much lower for streaming ( maybe 1500-2000 for non hd for me atm), since my internet has been crapping out on me lately.
I stream at 1200kbps, 30fps, 854x480 resolution. I used to stream at a higher bitrate and 720p 60fps but my laptop was heating up more than I was comfortable with so I turned the settings down. I stream from my desktop now but I haven't raised my settings to avoid straining my internet connection.
NTSC-J:You know STGs are in trouble when you have threads on how to introduce them to a wider audience and get more people playing followed by threads on how to get its hardcore fan base to play them, too. 1CCs | Twitch | YouTube
I've never played it myself but Pink Sweets Arrange has a much better reputation than Pink Sweets itself. It's sort of a spiritual successor to Battle Bakraid.

Typically your ship is insanely powerful in arrange modes so surviving is a lot easier but they make the scoring system more complicated.
I love a lot of them but playing them just to get a clear would be missing the point. They're great palate cleansers after a session of arcade mode. Put a few credits in and see how well you score/if you like the new systems.
Since I've found contradicting claims concerning the RGB-compatibility of the japanese version of Gunbird 2 for the DC, is there anyone who could test that version and tell me, if it in fact outputs RGB (or doesn't)?
I want to say I remember playing it on a Commodore monitor via RGB, but that was quite a while ago and I'm not really sure. I think all DC games support RGB, it's just VGA for some that doesn't work (GB2 being one of them).
It doesn't make a ton of sense to me that GB2 wouldn't work via RGB 240p, seeing as I'm pretty sure it's a 240p game rather than 480i like most DC games. I will tell you though that I've tricked it to VGA before, and it gets unplayable amounts of slowdown that way, for some reason, so even if you do get it to display in 480p, it's definitely not playable that way. Could be the same with RGB.
Will playing more shmups help prevent me from making mindless mistakes like this:
?
It's an issue I have; I sometimes get questions like that wrong due to me doing something stupid like filling in the wrong bubble when taking the PSATs.

No, but it will help if you decide to make your thesis paper on gawain and the superplayer.

You need to stay away from the bullet hells because scientists have shown (I have the documents) that all the brightly coloured bullets cause damage to the receptors in the part of your brain that deals with verbal reasoning. You can help counter this by taking large doses of Adderal each day
Is there anything I can do to prevent myself from making trivial mistakes like that? It's not exactly like I have a lot of time to check over my answers when taking the SATs, you know.
