A short video of the end of the run. It took me forever to upload only 18MB, I'm getting really tired of this shit >___<
Thanks, err, go ahead is the goal, you knowtoby wrote:Great score, you're getting a little too far ahead though. Need to play some xmas Ultra.
I'd love to see that video, must steal your 1st boss strategy.

I still don't think I'm going to encode that vid (I should give the DVD to jck/BR1), but don't worry, there will be other stuff, eheh

About the boss 1 strat, it's extremely easy to figure out and to reproduce. I'm uploading a micro-vid right now, BUT DAMN it took me A LOT of time

Supid digital divide

No, the same (IIRC) you're using, one bomb for us lazy-boys.Plasmo wrote:what stage 1 boss strategy are you talking about? a no bomb one maybe?
Here's the vid:

The second part technique is useless, risky and really hard to reproduce on a pcb (you need to reach the safe spot a micro-second before the bullet-wave, on PS2 you just need to get the top of the screen and place yourself correctly).
Well done!im slowly getting into ultra again and ive just reached stage 5 again for the second time now.

thanks for the vid, strategy stolen. (I actually used pretty much the same one before, but got so sick of dying & restarting, that I started to bomb the crap out of him)
The second phase is quite annoying, I use the same safe-spot but it's far from 100% safe.
Any clue on how TGA-RET kills the boss so fast? I've tried using different rapid settings, and different button combinations but I do nowhere near the same damage as he does.

The usual end-of-the-run video, just as another form of proof

Thanks!Plasmo wrote:thats mighty impressive LUN! it compliments!!
keep up the excellent work and definitiely release the replay for that.
btw the place where youve died is imo the hardest bit of the whole stage.is there any save strategy to survive this?
I think the whole second part of stage 5 is really hard. Anyway, I did a bad error if you ask me. No safe strats, as far as I know, but those giant bugs are not impossible to do if you approach them in a smart way (TGA's run is not a good reference because he could't care less about that, he just dodge every-fucking-thing). I was just too nervous there

Anyway, I'm quite sure that the final part of the stage is the worse in terms of difficulty

Original (Rapid Fire):
32,860,484 - AST-LUN - ALL (Lx2) - PS2 - [A+4, C+2]
No missed until the very end of the 4th boss. Original is really FAST, good for a total change of pace. Just toying though, I don't know if I'll be able to put together something better with just a lazy run per day, but it's worth the try

ULTRA alternate:
304,859,532 - AST-LUN-CPF - stage 5 - PS2 - [A+12, C+2]
The DVD with the run is gonna leave my house tomorrow. BR1 will take care of the vid
Anyway, it's a run full of mistakes, but I've got a great desperate stage 4 no miss no bomb (well, I was out of bombs) from the beginning to the end, best feature of the run by far.
I'll get a pic tomorrow, here you can download the usual end-of-the-run vid as little proof (died stupidly with 2 bombs in stock >_<):

Great score LUN.
Btw I've uploaded some Maniac individual stage replays to http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=maco1cma if anyone wants to see them.

Been playing this again after a long break and I've improved my stage 2 and 3 consistency a bit. Stage 4 is still low scoring for me, but I'm trying to get the knack of the final midboss attack and the rather difficult/annoying first half of the stage chain.
And cheers to maco for the youtube vids and twe for the tapping guide from a while back.
