On a side note, are there any Cave releases on 360 that are missing from this set, besides Ketsui and DOJ?

Not sure if serious? This is going to be sold out on release day.

Or more seriously, the DDP contained within Instant Brain.

slightly OT: how hard was it to access DDP in Instant Brain ? Could it be played with controller or was it Kinect only ?

To your credit I did some quick searching yesterday and did not find an answer to this - I'd also like to know...

You need to clear the main game once to unlock DDP. You can play with the controller, but you can't reassign the buttons.

Also the Nin2-Jump in Instant Brain is different from the XBLA version, with different requirements too. But overall, you still need to S rank all levels to complete it.

Throughout Instant Brain and both the extra games (DDP and N2J), there was never a need for Kinect since it was optional.

Wait what? Are there different stages? I might have to get Instant Brain just for that :!:

I just realized how long Amazon has been taking preorders for this. Makes me wonder what quantities are being produced and if Amazon might be taking more orders than they can fulfill...

Thought about that as well. I imagine Amazon has been sending Cave weekly if not daily updates on preorder #s & hopefully they're (or whoever they outsourced it to) on top of production

Won't make any difference. Inside source says Zero Gunner preordered them all. Will be on an ebay near you for £2k each.

There has been a lot of talk of who this is for. Well it seems I'm one of the few that just happen to fit the criteria for this. I'm mostly a retro gamer and mostly buy STGs from the 4th and 5th gens. However I have been wanting to pick up a J360 and all the Cave releases but have been patiently waiting (procrastinating). This seems to fit the bill for me, ease and price point-wise.

Question. Ketsui is not includes as it was published by someone else. Isn't there one other 360 Cave game that it not included in this bundle? If so, with the purchase of those two, this collection pack and the upcoming Saidaioujou, I should be set for all things Cave on the 360? Do I have that correct?

The other game not included is DoDonPachi Daioujou. And yes, getting those two and SDOJ will do it :)

Haha. In the spirit of Shmups forum friendliness I will hook you up for only 1500. One time offer, good only until 24 hours before release day. Or for 1600 I'll write "From Zero Gunner's Stash of Cave Shooting Collections" on your copy. Guaranteed to become a true collector's item!

This is Amazon we're talking about. They'll probably ship 50 copies to one person and cancel everyone else. :P

Man I feel bad for people who got shafted by that Bandai/Namco Ni No Kuni LE fiasco. That was crazy (though nothing to do with Amazon).

If i remind it correctly someone already said that Guwange will be on a redeem code however has Cave already stated it?? Cause if they are goong with all DLC in one disc guwange should be on it so far.
By the by are the soundtracks included the same as the ones found on the stand alone special editions??

Guwange sadly is ONLY a DLC code...which sucks super hard. The Soundtracks appear to be the stand alone, original soundtrack releases.

If you own none, or only 30% of the games, It's a fine purchase. Otherwise, you're mad for even ordering one tbh.

We still don't know if the DLC will be tethered to the console or the disc or how region protections will work out. If it's on disc, as in, take your disc to a friend's house and still access Futari BL etc, it's seriously beneficial. If it ends up being tethered to the user account once installed, it's a total bust.

The way I see it is it's most likely to be all on disc. Why? Because Cave are unscrupulous about shafting their fanbase. If they can release LE PCB's like Mushi 1.5 and charge enormous sums for them, and then just chuck them in with the console release within a year for equaivalent peanuts, I don't see them having a problem from going: "LIMITED EDITION FIRST PRINT RUN DLC, LIMITED EDITION!! PREORDER NOW, GET THE LIMITED EDITION DLC FIRST PRINT RUN ONLY!"

...and then just screw all those devoted adopters by selling a collection with the DLC in a far superior format.

Since this is the way they've been rolling for years now, that's what I expect. They're very unlike your average Japanese company who tend to keep exclusives exclusive, and have sacrificed a lot of respectability in the process.

That said, I positively assure you that if you think this is the definitive Cave shooting collection, you're dreaming. You think you're getting the creme de la creme now, you're not. It's just shiny marketing hype. If Cave are still in need of spare bucks, there will be another, superior version in better boxes for next gen consoles with more content and games, for cheaper, probably. It's their MO to milk their existing IP's for every penny they can, so it's basically on the cards.

OMG this post really helped with my decision making lol

Honestly all I really wanted the Collection for was the DLC Disc and it was only to have Futari Black Label on Disc format but now that I think about it... not worth it for me. I have all Japanese releases including all the NA releases too... I've actually bought all NA releases twice too.. eeek

Jesus, you're nuts for even thinking about it.

You're exactly the reason Cave get away with this over and over. You're 100% the person they created this collection for, so you can buy it all a third time, and then two years from now, buy the next-gen version with all the on-disc interviews and special bonus artbooks. If you need further proof, there's a reason SDOJ isn't in the box: they don't want it to be 'definitive' just yet.

Think 30 years of Microsoft windows and you've got the picture.

Personally I think the Akai Katana LE Special Cave Shop ed. will be worth more than this collection down the line, it's just about the only bespoke thing they've ever released for 360.
