Damn you, Rastan78. ^_-

Don't stop now Trev, the game gets really good the better you become. And Ibara does demand a lot of attention. Stick with it and try to break 4mil for now, not hard to do if you take on stage2 decently. ^_-

Fresh blood! Welcome guys, happy hunting! ^_^

Not sure if you noticed, but I popped up a Shasta guide in the strategy forum, it should help you get to grips with Shasta and her attack patterns. Don't hesitate to ask a few questions if you need help. ^_-

Best times to suicide are always before you get your next life. If you are uncomfortable with it at the moment, then I would work on creating a safe route through the stages and past the bosses first, and then you can pick and choose your timing.

Remember that the stages can be cleared in one life with the right strategies. ^_-

ARCADE MODE - NORMAL:
5,298,780 - Triple Lei - Stage 4 - Bond (Type A) - PS2

Finally beat my old score and in Stage 4. I've actually gone farther than the mid-boss but the score wasn't anything to be proud of...

In this run I triggered that nasty purple needle spread from the mid-boss and I'm starting to think I shouldn't aim for the main body. Maybe aiming for the 1-up really is the safest way...? :?

That needle spray is only ever useful in Arrange Mode, as you can juice it for about 5mil at maximum rank. In Arcade Mode, however, you're best off going straight for the Extend.

Scores updated.

Normal:

9,209,690 - Rastan78 - Stage 5 - Bond (Type C) - PCB

The type C ship is pretty nice. (That means the ship where you hold down B, right?) You get a powerful penetrating shot and a homing bomb. The only major drawback is that the rear option can't be locked in place.

Updated. Good improvement Radegou, keep it up. ^_-

Damn you Rastan78! You can have 3rd place for now (my record is 9.8mil) as I'm working on consistency throughout the stages. Current records are:

Stage 1: 2.32mil (average 2.15mil)
Stage 2: 5.3mil (average 5.15mil)
Stage 3: 7.5mil (8mil practice record)
Stage 4: 8.8mil (9.4mil practice record)
Stage 5: 9.8mil (D.2mil practice record)
Stage 6: ?

Just can't seem to put it all together at the moment though. -_-;;

It'll happen eventually, Icarus. I know we can both catch up to Plasmo and cigs! *Cue shootout song from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.*

Ibara is great, despite what some of the whiners in the chat section are complaining about. "I can't see the bullets. I'm uncomfortable with scantily clad women. The bosses are too hard. I want my bottle."

The DVD is coming out soon, but I think that it'll be really tough to get those 20M+ high scores without being able to hoard lives and drive rank through the roof before reaching Teresa. Just working on the "fundamentals" still myself. The guide book with all the point values for shot or bomb destructions will be really nice though. You can access this info on the PCB (same with Garegga, Bakraid, Batrider) but it's kind of a pain.

Well, we are having fun,. that's what matters eh? ^_-

If you can't take a game for what it presents and how it plays then you'll end up with a very narrow taste in games. I was really excited about Ibara when it was announced originally, and I've had tons of fun with the PCB when I bought it. (Then other things stopped me from playing -_-)

Definitely worth the price.

I'm not even sure that rank driving is the case at the moment. I've seen the clips on the INH website and players have 8.9mil at the end of the three trains section in stage3, 14mil by the second half of stage4 and so on. If that is the case, then there is an absolute ton of points missing from ACR's original G score play.

The problem is finding them.

Right now I'd just settle for a half decent run with my current strategies. 11mil by Lace would be nice, 13mil as per my current Practice Mode save record would be even better. A lot depends on my handling of Kasumi at the moment, still very inconsistent with the hadou technique.

I have most of the scans from Arcadia still on my drive (plus stages 5 and 6 sections still to scan). I'll pop them up later today.

Keep up the good work anyway. ^_- I haven't been in a good score battle for a while, quite enjoying this one.

This was so close to an ALL. One more hadou would have finished the last boss.

Quick question for Icarus: Will scores be allowed if autofire is used to speed up the shot rate? Should this be noted when posting? Can't decide if increasing it is worth it or not. At least it resets to default every time you die so the rank boost is probably not that bad if not always abused. It also seems to be more difficult to increase it manually than in Garegga (easier to avoid accidental increase though). Could be worth using, especially when playing on Harder.

The top Ibara scorers in Japan use autofire (the lack of an autofire button in the PS2 port is one of the main things Japanese players complained about in said port). The Ibara cab in Hey in Akihabara has an autofire button installed, for example.

Feel free to note if autofire is used or not, I have no problem with players using it.

The lack of autofire setups in Ibara drives me nuts. There are lots of places that benefit from an increased rate of fire, but having to hammer the fire button to increase the rate annoys the crap out of me, and it is dangerous when you have to do it in the middle of a bullet storm.

Scores updated.

Thanks for the info, twe. What was the button layout like at HEY? I'm guessing it's just a standard ABC across the top row with C as 30 hz autofire. The insane 7 button layouts sometime seen for Garegga are probably not necessary.

Side note: Really looking forward to those Ibara interview translations you mentioned in another thread. :)

You know, funny but I can't recall whether it was an ABC setup like you mentioned, or an

AB
C

setup with the rapid fire button under the A (I do recall the rapid fire was 30hz though). It was one of those two.

As for the Ibara translations, I hope to finish those by next week.
Already I can tell those DVD players are some wacky guys.

Ahh, you've acquired the PCB? Nice one. You'll find its a lot different to the PS2 revision. ^_-
