Lets play again this week. Pulls:

V-Five (Fuck man, this game sucks on all levels)
Undefined Fantastic (one of the best shmups ever, how neat!)
Battle Garegga (man... i don't like this thing in any way. I expect early demise)
Strikers 99 (Psikyo. I have all'd this before but will i remember enough to do it again?! likely not but lets see how it goes)
Phantasmagoria of Flower View (Wooh boy, Will probably go with Aya for this one. Should provide free 14 points for being a 9 stages long game)

My estimate that this month is getting rather lackluster in terms of points because I can't strongarm V-Five and Garegga. They are too icky and weird for that. Will likely make up for that in the Touhou games and I'm excited to see how far my routes of yore in S99 will take me.

WHOOPS, looks like the numbers in the OP is still from loop 6.
Anyway.
--------------------------------
Ikazu-san - P-47 The Freedom Fighter (PC Engine) - 2 Boss - 204.300

FIVE POINTS!
--------------------------------
Ikazu-san - War of Aero - 2 - 88.000

I still consider making a custom game list for rolls as cheating.
--------------------------------
Ikazu-san - Homura (EU)(PS2) - 2 - 40.316.000

Insert meguca joke here.
--------------------------------
Ikazu-san - Daruis Burs (PSP) - Legend - 2 Boss (Route AB?) - 5.148.100

Fiddly touch controls intensifies to a point where we may not be able to contain it. AKA you can emulate PSP on your phone but not your PC.
--------------------------------
Ikazu-san - Guardian Legend (US)(NES) - 1 - ???

Wow those black holes things are dangerous.
--------------------------------
Final Score: 2+5+2+2+2+1=14

Whew, almost got a stage 2 end bingo.

I think the bosses are neat, even if the levels aren't that cool (same with Dogyuun).

Yeah sorry, it's been a bit busy here. I'll have them updated tomorrow. Just in case anyone missed it in the OP, the special orders for this week are to reach the first extend in one of your rolls.

Good luck everyone!

My roll this week:

1. 1941: Counter Attack
Haven't spent much time with this one.
2. Sine Mora
Haven't played it in awhile, I think it gets a bad rap on this site.
3. R-Type
Oh captain.
4. Gradius V
2nd week of playing this, 3rd gradius roll...good times
5. Mushi Futari
Chance for an extend!.....and dying soon after!

Quite a bit of history with this one for me, basically involving me having to prove to some peers of mine that I would be useful for a shmup tournament sometime ago. I only spent 12 hours on the game that week and managed to produce a no miss of the first loop with all the crystals. I was pretty displeased with taking so long to learn that and the fact that the game was 30 minutes long for just one loop was really something that helped me grow a rather passionate distaste for it :)

I am not gonna be sad if i game over on the stage 2 boss here.

Rolls for round 8:

1. eXceed 2nd Vampire (normal/full screen)
Really fun game. I can see myself playing this more than just occasionally. The polarity switches reminds me of Ikaruga, but way easier :D
2. Ikaruga
Ouch :?
3. Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Ver. 1.5
Interesting indeed. It's been a loong time since I touched DFK and I have absolutely no idea of the scoring mechanisms. I don't have the PCB so I did the Xbox 360 version. Played it safe; type-a/bomb style and managed to stay alive until the 3rd stage.
4. Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
My SDOJ lost its plastic wrap. I have mixed feeling about SDOJ. It's beautiful but I just can't get my head around it. Played the Arcade HD version on the 360.
5. Psyvariar -Medium Unit-
Again..oh crap

Was hoping for Espgaluda this week for having a chance at reaching the extend - oh well

And the results:

R=Player&Game&Ship&Stage&Score&Weekly Challenge Clear R=Stompp&eXceed 2nd Vampire&-&2&1118267&Yes R=Stompp&Ikaruga&&&& R=Stompp&Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Ver. 1.5&type-a/bomb&3&200822261& R=Stompp&Dodonpachi Saidaioujou&type-c&2&48334878& R=Stompp&Psyvariar -Medium Unit-&&&&

OK, going to give this a whirl:
  1. Musha Aleste - 1 - 417800 (yeah, I'd forgotten everything about this game -.-)
  2. Blue Wish Resurrection - Hope - ALL (5 stages) - 155xxxxx (had only played BWR+ before this, but my scrub self was still able to 1cc lolheaven) (Also reached first extend)
  3. RefleX - 1 - 112730 (I think I've played this .... once? :? )
  4. eXceed 2nd Vampire - 1 - Abandoned due to keyboard glitching and leaving me at the top of the screen
  5. eXceed 3rd -Jade Penetrate- Black Package - I can 1cc normal on a good day, but I've only qualified for extra once.
    3 - 764120 (I tried normal .... it wasn't a good day)
Final score: 1 + (5 + 5 + 5) + 1 + 1 + 3 = 21

maybe you'd have more fun with the bomber version that doesn't have the Gradius power up style system? Though most seem to prefer that over bomber version.

I should try out bomber version sometime myself, but the Gradius style wasn't too bad either.

iast - Xexex - 3 - 286700
iast - Undead Line - 1 - 147000 (BONUS GET!)

Phase one of the experiment is over. It is time for you to prove yourself in the flames of true, unending war. Victory must be obtained, even if we have to climb a mountain of our comrades fallen corpses to get there...

---

Death Roulette -----URA-----

Rules:

Loops 9 and 10 of death Roulette will be combined into a 2 week long special tournament. As usual 5 games will be rolled via the randomizer, however the URA loop will not have the usual single credit limitation. Your goal is to make it as far as you possibly can within all 5 of your rolls within 2 weeks. There are no bonuses this week aside from the 1-ALL bonuses. This time TLB bonuses will not be awarded. Also, only the first loop of games will be counted, you may quit after clearing the first loop.

The winner of the URA Loop will recieve a 1000 yen prepaid card from their choice of PSN, Nintendo Network, or Xbox Live from Japan.

Because the stakes are higher this time, some extra strict rules will be in place. Each player will have unique rolls as usual, but the rolls will be done by me. This week will be for registration. Any participants interested in playing in URA please post in this thread that you want to join. Registration ends Saturday March 14th at 12pm Japan time. The URA will begin the following day, Sunday March 15th at 12pm.

All games must be played in MAME. I will not assign you games that are unsupported in MAME, but it is your responsibility to track down the roms for yourself if I assign you something you don't already have. You must post a screenshot of either the game over countdown or the ending screen for all 5 of your final submissions for the URA.

That's it for now, if you have any questions post them here. Registration is now open.
