Will Ketsui have a scanline mode?

What were their reasons for the low scores? If they're just docking points for not having enough extras or something like that, meh, who cares.

True enough, but the other 360 Cave ports were all rated higher. I'm wondering why their opinion is different this time around, especially since the port accuracy is good (AFAIK). I can only guess that it's due to a lack of extras and/or hi-res modes.

Re: Ketsui X and Daioujou Black Label X - Ports for Xbox 360
I only saw the score, didn't have chance to read details yet. I think the Famitsu won't be out until Thursday or Friday. I usually also don't care about those scores either, but Famitsu's "average" rating for a good shmup is around 7/10. I remember Daioujou also got a lower rating, mainly because of the poor port. My first guess is that 5pb has been messing with this one, which is no surprise if you consider for how long it had been delayed.
Well nevertheless, like I said earlier I'm still happy to get my hands on in next week.

Not too surprising, really.
Not a shit-ton of new modes, no redrawn graphics-
thats stuff that matters for them, not if the actual game is any good.
Yeah and don't forget that Espgafutari II.5s additional arrange/novice modes are rather easy.

Well, if it's any consolation (not like it matters), the game got an 8,7,7,6 in Famitsu 360. But again, it doesn't matter. By all knowledgeable accounts, this is a relatively accurate port of one of the best games ever made. So don't let some ignorant, bribed media people take the wind out of your sails.

Galuda II got two 8s from what I recall.

Why am I seeing so many comments like this?vercimber wrote:one of the best games ever made
I've played Mushi Futari, ESPGaluda and DOJ, and I love them. Is Ketsui even better than these games?

Ketsui is a great game for sure. In my book it's right up there with Mushi Futari and DFK Black Label amongst the best.HamidoOs wrote:Why am I seeing so many comments like this?vercimber wrote:one of the best games ever made

I hope no one here cares what the ratings were in famitsu. Heck, the lower the scores the better, just means is nails hard, old school carnage, and above their head! Basically what Jockel said.
Can't believe after hearing about this game for so many years I can actually play it in a couple weeks, seems like one of those bizarre dreams. I don't care if I like it as much as the other xbox360 shmups, I'm really just looking forward to something with straight tanks, choppers, and anger.

Re: Ketsui X and Daioujou Black Label X - Ports for Xbox 360
I think that just might be it, after they've been spoiled with Death Smiles, Mushi Futari, and ESPGaluda II in their respective 360 modes. IMO a straight up port of Ketsui is better than none at all - even though I have the PCB, I'm curious about X Mode.Davey wrote:True enough, but the other 360 Cave ports were all rated higher. Famitsu is no better than the later years of EGM's Review Crew (remember, "Often can't avoid death" in EGM's Giga Wing DC review?). Their reviewers probably did double-digit credit feeding to get to the ending, and probably don't know about the Ura "Special Round" loop- let alone Tsuujou.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Re: Ketsui X and Daioujou Black Label X - Ports for Xbox 360
Famitsu reviews simply aren't for the hardcore anymore, it's a mainstream publication that no doubt still has it's finger on the pulse of the average DS/Wii loving Japanese gamer, having rearranged themselves behind which every platform is dominant a few times (all charges of publisher/advertising revenue related scoring aside). in that sense the review is probably on point for the target audience. *shrug*
The fact Ketsui scored low is a non-event for any person who was going to buy the game. I doubt many people were fence sitting a Ketsui purchase to be honest.
Then again, i can honestly say that i've not used reviews for years (probably since Mean Machines) - gaming tastes, especially those built over close to 30 years of gaming, are extremely personal and the thought of basing what games i play on someone elses take fills me with horror.

Don't forget the xRGB2 unit or whatever you'd need to scale the 360's output down.undamned wrote:Scanlines are inherent in the display itself. If you want scanlines, play on a CRTSP3RRFEUER wrote:Just have a look on their official website... It's full of scanlines

I LOVE Ketsui, but I don't know if I'd come out and say it's the best ... just yet.
It's a good game no doubt, but the hype on this one has the force to disrupt Tidal Waves!
Personally I think I've had more fun with ESPG2 than Ketsui.
