beating an old pb from 2008 is awesome. ketsui hype!

Also raises the question, WTF did I just watch? Arguably the most BIZZARE shump title ever.Shepardus wrote:This raises so many questions, like "how'd you find this," "why'd you bother 2-ALL'ing this," and simply "what." Especially the "what."Jaimers wrote:Apare Usapie! 2-ALL.
This is quite a game.
I'm honestly impressed by how well-made this seems. Where are you finding these (I assume) japanese post-Dezeamon shmups like this & mecha ritz?Jaimers wrote: Apare Usapie! 2-ALL.

That's pretty damn sweet.
Sound is out-of-sync. It's not watchable like that. The Armchair General wrote:I recently did a Raiden no miss 1-all
Welcome and congratulations! Raiden is a game I’ve tried 1-Alling for many years, it’s a doozy. The Armchair General wrote:Hello~ this is my first post on this forum.
I recently did a Raiden no miss 1-all.
This is pretty insane for me as I never thought I could clear Raiden, let alone no miss it. I also wrote a little guide for the game in the annotations because I'm frustrated with how little is written about Raiden.
Wow, how did I not notice the out-of-sync soundOmegaFlareX wrote:Youtube has supported 60fps for almost a year now. Please, I'm begging you all, for the good of the internet (and my OCD), upload 60fps vids.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I was going to call it quits after hitting 25 million, but seeing your work on Sonic Wings 2 got me thinking that anything is possible.ProjectAKo wrote: That's pretty damn sweet.
For WRs, it seems to be based on how popular the game was and how much work was put into the score. Here's a site I check sometimes http://www.north-wind.ne.jp/~yoshino/ch ... 3%89%83%93
It shows the evolution of high scores over time. As you can see, it seems that score only had about 2 months of effort put into it, and this was probably before anyone was able to practice the game through MAME. 2 months is pretty low compared to some of those games which have been practiced for literally years. If you dump enough time into it, you could take it.
You guys do realize that Raiden is 15yrs old from it arcade coin-up release. Last time I played it around 1996-97 when I 3rd loop it for 10million.chempop wrote:Welcome and congratulations! Yep, but you gotta be wary. According to wikipedia boomerang came out in 98, but that site only says scores were submitted for 99 january and 99 february only, so maybe people had been playing it for even longer, and that score may be stronger than I'm assuming...Kino wrote:Thanks for the vote of confidence. So Japan only played this game for 2 months, and pretty much no other western player has the slightest interest in it? I couldn't have picked a better game to shoot for the WR in.
I can almost guarantee you that 32 million is doable in Cotton Boomerang. I've added up all my highest scores for every level. Comes to roughly 31.2 million, and I still have a few tricks I haven't tested out yet. As you may have noticed from my video, my chaining is less than airtight during the second half of the game, and my pursuit count could be improved as well. Every 10 enemies you chain after the initial 200 is worth 100k, and every 100 hits on a seal after the initial 100 is worth 100k. Suddenly, that last half a million doesn't seem so far away...ProjectAKo wrote:Yep, but you gotta be wary. Hey Mills, you do realize you're once again being a jerk? To a brand new user, no less! How egotistical are you that you need to belittle someone else and then post about what you've done? I thought maybe you would have grown up a bit over the six years since this was last pointed out to you.Mills wrote:You guys do realize that Raiden is 15yrs old from it arcade coin-up release. Awesome. I don't know much about that game so I couldn't really comment. Good luck achieving that, it sounds like it's gonna be possible. It was the same for me in fact. In the 90s everyone in the arcade just played Silver and Rafale, because they had big damage and didn't have to use too many bombs to kill bosses, allowing for decent bomb bonus. No one could be bothered to play Mao because she had to face down the very unfair loop 2 bosses with crappy damage. I was able to get quite a higher score by using various tricks with Mao which would've been impossible to figure out in the arcade.Kino wrote: I can almost guarantee you that 32 million is doable in Cotton Boomerang. The WR holder didn't use a Fire character in his run, he used 2 Ice and 1 Wind. What I'm banking on is that he (and the other Japanese players) didn't know about that trick that only Fire can pull off, which provides huge boosts to your chain in stages 5 & 6. And that the only reason the WR hasn't been broken since the 90's is because the Japanese haven't played it since the 90's.
Is this a reoccurring thing with him? I think what Mills needs to understand is that not everybody is as good as he is and that what people count as a big STG accomplishment is different then what he counts as a big STG accomplishment.you do realize you're once again being a jerk?
I tried playing Cotton Boomerang a couple years ago but never quite got an emulator to run it properly. It's been great watching someone pick it up seriously - hope you're able to keep going.Kino wrote: I can almost guarantee you that 32 million is doable in Cotton Boomerang. Plus while the game existed 15 years ago, it doesn't mean everyone has known it for 15 years.trap15 wrote:Even more-so considering a bare 1-ALL of Raiden is hard as hell anyways. Great work.

There's at least one video with that concept under the title "Averaging Gradius." The one I recall used the NES/FC version. youtube link1up wrote:Help. I'm trying to find a video I once saw. It was Gradius played by a lot of different player or a lot of different runs and the replays were played on top of eachother so it show every play at once.
Does anyone know what video I'm talking about?
Yes, that's exactly the one. Didn't know people from this forum participated in that little project.BIL wrote:There's at least one video with that concept under the title "Averaging Gradius."
