DC: A revolutionary console where the genre-bending game is a guy wandering around for hours asking where sailors hang out.

O_O There's a Centipede port for GameCom?! Holy shit, I need to find this and have incentive to dust off my gamecom!

Of course it's a joke thread, but the bashing of a system isn't off topic either. I'm just saying that Game.com is the one system that deserves to be bashed, unlike the Dreamcast. I like my Dreamcast quite a bit and I do not appriciate the implication that I don't based on my comment about the game.com (which has nothing to do with how much I like the Dreamcast). BTW, I feel you are the one that doesn't get it. Please stop reading things into my posts that aren't there.

Yeah baloney. You hate the Dreamcast and were trying to say it sucks worse than game.com handhelds. We all know it because you make it obvious. Hater. I caught you in the act and now you backpedal. Shumps.com sees through your facade.

I don't get it. I didn't say your post was witty or worthwhile so where do you get the idea I'm reading stuff into it that ain't there?

How many times has that been rumored now?

It's like Mega Man Mania, or the Mother 1+2 cart getting translated, or Duke Nukem Forever "making progress." I'll believe it when I'm holding it in my hands.

So an anonymous source told one site six months ago that "Shenmue 3 is being made" and we've seen exactly dick since?

I reiterate: until it comes out, I'm taking this with a gigantic grain of salt. Remember Metroid Dread? I do remember this story, and my stance on it hasn't changed.

In that report it states very clearly that although Shenmue 3 is complete, Sega want the trilogy on a nextgen console.

Personally I believe Sega are retarded, if you couldn't sell a fish fresh out of the water, what chance of you got selling it 6 years down the road?

Shenmue will never sell no matter what format it comes out on. Its just boring and doesnt capture the imagination.

Shenmue 1 - maybe. I think you'll find many, many people disagree when it comes to Shenmue 2 however. Your 'boring', is to my mind a carefully, lovingly created gameworld that delivered a unique and absorbing experience. The slow, relaxed pace of the game seemed entirely deliberate, and as such only ever clicked with those who were really willing to give it time to grow on them. Certainly wasn't instantly gratifying. Horses for courses an all that. I agree that the longer they leave 3 however, the fewer are going to care.

I played part 1 all the way through, enjoyed discs 1 and 2.. disc 3 was ZZzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzzzz...

Never played 2 before... First impressions count and part 1 didnt do it for me.

I'd love 3 to come out though and I understand why Sega would want the trilogy. Because its doubtful that newcomers would be interested in a story based game where they are only likely to see the end.

I wasn't impressed by Shenmue 1. It had some good ideas, but it felt a bit clunky. It was annoying how not many of the townsfolk were very helpful. The time limit for arriving at certain places was a bit strict and waiting out the time was awkward. Also, I found the forklift mini games to be very annoying with massive amounts of slowdown when people are walking by. The game is a bit of the short side too, despite being on three discs.

Shenmue 2 improved over the flaws of the first game by having more helpful townsfolk, the ability use a wait option, a longer quest, and no forklift mini game. The main draws of Shenmue 1, the battle system, story, and exploration, were all improved apon in Shenmue 2. Also, the game is much larger then Shenmue 1, despite the bulk of the quest being on the first three discs. More well ported classic arcade games and the ability to play them outside the main game are nice touches too.

It's sweet how the PAL import of Shenmue 2 is 60 Hz and with English subtitles. It makes it very friendly for playing on NTSC TVs. However, if you plan to import the PAL version, make sure you have some spare cases ready. The PAL case looks really nice, but it uses the type of holder with the pegs that breaks easily and makes CDs harder to get out than they should be.

Lack of helpfulness is not a flaw. What is a flaw is how all of Shenmue 2's filler people respond the same to everything. That is boring. The lack of a forklift mini-game is also a flaw.

It's not like Shenmue 1's filler people didn't respond the same way all the time. Shenmue 2 has more people that actually help you. In Shenmue 1, only one or two people actually helped when you talked and many of them said something useless. Also, I found the forklift sections to be tedious. I like Shenmue's 2 box lifting mini game much better.

Pacrappa, I basically complained about the way you accuse me of lying and how the mods here don't seem to be doing anything about the way you and some other people constantly reply rudely to my posts. I was complaining about how you often read things into my posts that aren't there and then tell me I'm lying when I try to defend myself (and how certain other posters did this too, but you are the one who keeps harassing me). I also said that posts like your post that spread lies about people and constantly twist my logic to tell people I said something I never said or even implied would not be tolerated on other forums. BTW, I deleted my post becuase every time I try to reply to you, you go ape and try to turn the post against me. I also deleted my post to apolgize about my rudeness and you only reply in rudeness.

I don't even know where you get the incredibly dumb idea that I was dissing dreamcast games from that comment about the game.com games that sold for 1 cent. The point of that comment was to show how sucky the game.com is. It had nothing to do with how much I like Dreamcast games. I assumed that people would have enough common sense to know that I was only knocking the game.com and that I HATE it when the Dreamcast gets bashed.

He was being rude because you're being dumb. I deleted my initial reply to your initial post since I'm willing to forgive when people admit their stupidity, but then if you were really repentant about it you wouldn't have gone and posted the exact same shit (excepting the bit about him having a sick sense of humor). Pa is a funny bastard and a valued member of the community...maybe it's you and not him at fault.

Hate it when the Dreamcast gets bashed? Great, no one was seriously 'bashing' it, unless you consider rapscallion a serious insult. In which case, you shouldn't have clicked the thread and seen it get bashed.

You can really take this seriously? [still addressing brianC]

Want the mods to intervene whenever someone says something potentially offensive to or about someone(thing)? Start your own intarweb forum where everyone happily agrees on everything because they have no other choice. This is the best english speaking shooter related board on the net and I won't see it go to shit like that. Again, entertain the possibility that you're being insulted for a good reason. Something good could come of it - you'll change and not say stupid stuff in the future.

Maybe I am talking it too personal, but I posted becuase this happens more than one. I know that much of what PaCrappa says is probably joking, but I don't really like his form of teasing. When I tell people I don't like being teased, it annoys me when I get teased more. BTW, I don't want the mods to go neo nazi or anything, I just want them to help set people straight and get people off my back when they are harassing me.

Great. Namecalling and being laughed at are two things I'm very sensitive about. I wouldn't say anything except that every time I say something awesomely constructive I've got Neon and jp going ape on me. Every time. And that means constantly.

Ya know I've noticed that over the last couple of years that this forum has turnt mighty rude and unfriendly (Malc where are you?) and quite frankly, I'm sick of the abuse. You guys in your ivory towers made of Sega Dreamcasts can look down on me, the meek downtrodden one, all you like.

It's not a problem for me because I am strong. I just wish the mods would step in here and straighten you guys out. This forum could be so much better than it is if we worked together to stamp out cruelty and lies once and for all.

Ok. I get your point. Next time you use your scarasm, I'll try not to take it personally. I know I was going a bit overboard with the mods thing (which was one of the things I deleted at first becuase I felt it was WAY too harsh. I only mentioned it again becuase I took that post about being a liar too seriously, so I felt a need to admit to what I said, even though I didn't like posting it. There was a reason why I deleted that stupid crap), but it just annoys me when I tell people I don't like being teased or bothered about something and they go and do it anyway. Sometimes I just want a way out, but what I should have done was take it lightly and tough it out instead of wimping out and taking it personally.

Anyway, I made it sound like I object to this topic more than I actually do becuase I was trying too hard to show that I like the Dreamcast quite a bit (even though I didn't need to since the previous comments were a joke). I just mentioned the game.com thing becuase this is a joke bashing thread and I wanted to mention something that deserves a real bashing. I mean, the Game.com is the one system that deserves to be bashed outside a joke thread. The Dreamcast may be a scurvy, barnicle ridden, cur ;), but the game.com is a total piece of worthless trash.

Are you kidding? I'm just wondering. I didn't quote you... and I'm pretty sure I wasn't laughing at you, but rather at the absurdness this thread dove into to.

I mean, if you're kidding... cool... understandable. If not... get a fucking livejournal.

Edit:
Since I just actually read Pa's thread, I would like to point some things out:
1. Once again, my post wasn't laughing at you, more at the fact that this thread blew up into 8 pages.

2. I don't follow you around on this board and try to "tear down" every brilliant thought you think you have. Actually Pa, you aren't even one of the people I really take much notice of around here... so any supposed "Z0MG JP IS T3H FOLLOWING ME!" business is more you just posting things I may disagree with in threads I may read. Honestly, I don't remember ever "destroying your contructive brilliant ideas" or whatever, so I don't know what you're crying about on that end.

3. Never group me with Neon.
