Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Yeah, I guess I should've picked up the physical version. Oh well. I love this game, but not enough to buy three copies of it.

<trap15> I only pick high quality games

Well, then again, the physical version is more expensive, and you'd have to wait for it. Everything has its drawbacks.CptRansom wrote:Yeah, I guess I should've picked up the physical version. Oh well. I love this game, but not enough to buy three copies of it.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Well, finally pulled off my first CounterBurst tonight, against Thousand Bullets. While it didn't take him down, it did make me feel awful good to have finally pulled off the technique. Plus, the ensuing graphical *pop* does make you feel good, and the ability of the thing to literally suck up all surrounding firepower, even those pesky homing lasers, is definitely a plus. Felt good, even if he still made me fail my mission afterwards. It's obvious that I need far more practice, though. Using the Burst properly is going to take a while, especially when separating it from my ship.
*Man* I wish they'd patch in English to the Japanese physical Vita version so I would know more of what's going on/what I'm selecting...or at least *could be* selecting.

Not that there's a lot to read in this game, most of it is told via pictures (Chronicle and CS stages and bosses, ships). Unless you want to know the "rules" of the mission or the (haha) story, I don't know what you need it for.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Does anyone have a link to a guide on the scoring mechanics? I've been trying to find all ways to manipulate my score, but there seems to be some alternate techniques I don't know about. For example, I just learned about using the options to finish off groups for a multiplier boost with Genesis.
I've started to collect what I know, but there has to be something because the number 1 score online is over 100 million over mine.(ps4)

Watching some video in the NicoNico website, there are so many well play video about this game, key words I think this ダライアスバーストAC.
What I know about the scoring mechanics this that you need to kill several eneymies quickly for increasing the multiple, the multiple will decrease when you are hit, it can immdiately increase when you destroy any of eneymies and parts of bosses, but when you are hit again, the multiple could not increase again, this situation depend on different condition, for example, when you are hit twice in the battle of Iron Fossil, you cannot get the x16 multiple when you destroy Iron Fossil, but you are hit just once, you can get the x16 multiple when you destroy it. however, when you are hit multiplely before the Violet Ruler stop use missile attack, you can destrory the missile to recover your maximum multiple.

Well, I followed your suggestion to no avail. Google Translate isn't exactly a great translator, that's for sure. I've never found it to be all that accurate, and considering the amount of space and updates it gets, you'd think it'd work flawlessly. It never does. I started it off with something plainly easy: white characters on a black background in the warnings screen before the game even starts. Couldn't even do that.AxelMill wrote:Download Google Translate on your smartphone and take a photo of what you need to know.boagman wrote:*Man* I wish they'd patch in English to the Japanese physical Vita version so I would know more of what's going on/what I'm selecting...or at least *could be* selecting.

Annoying, but the game's still fun! Thousand Bullets is giving me a run for my money early. Still need more work on the Counter Burst.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I find the handwriting option, in which you draw the characters you want translated, to be far more reliable. It is of course less convenient, but if you really want something translate that's always an option.boagman wrote:Well, I followed your suggestion to no avail. tl;dr use burst to kill everythingShawnzzy wrote:Does anyone have a link to a guide on the scoring mechanics? getting hit lowers your score, so don't get hit
focus on killing as many entire groups rather than as many single enemies as possible
arm and grey pickups give score, all other pickups are irrelevant for score
don't worry about missing grey pickups, they give you like practically no score anyways
losing a life completely tanks your score, so if you die just give up lol
killing things with burst gives you lotsa score, so kill everything with burst
killing things with burst counter gives you even more score, so kill everything with burst counter
fixed burst doesn't give more score, so try to avoid using it to kill things
most destructible things the boss shoots doesn't give score, so don't care
boss parts give score, kill with burst
when you have no multiplier, try to kill things at around the same time to max out your multiplier faster
figure out the most efficient routes to maximize burst output while minimizing meter use
scoring in dariusburst is pretty straightforward
genesis is a little bit different since its options also give a multiplier boost for some reason (not as much as its burst tho) and it can't spam burst like most ships but it's pretty much exactly the same ok
and if you're origin/2nd scoring is even easier
kill everything and don't get hit

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Funnily enough, ramming enemies with your options (that is, moving the options themselves into the enemies as opposed to shooting enemies with the options) gives a x5 multiplier, which is higher than the x4 multiplier of a regular (non-counter) burst.Steelix100 wrote:genesis is a little bit different since its options also give a multiplier boost for some reason (not as much as its burst tho) and it can't spam burst like most ships but it's pretty much exactly the same ok
If you want some scoring examples, DKA_Darius has a 175mil ADH video using Next here, Icarus has a 194mil video of the same route using Genesis here (and other routes on his channel), and Keres has an annotated(!) 144m video, also of the same route, using Gaiden here (again, other routes on his channel).
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
You may wanna add: if you're using Genesis or Murakumo don't let your options get destroyed, otherwise the Burst meter will drop badly. You don't want to lose a Burst Counter chance because one of your options blew up a frame beforehand.

ya except murakumo doesn't really care since it doesn't need max meter to burst and can get its options back in like 5 secsgs68 wrote:You may wanna add: if you're using Genesis or Murakumo don't let your options get destroyed, otherwise the Burst meter will drop badly. Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
japanese wiki page with all multipliers on all attacks etc. http://www24.atwiki.jp/darius/pages/54.html
Assault scoring isn't that simple, you get a lot more points with the burst finish than the normal hit of counterburst and need to plan gauge consumption carefully. Good use of burst finish can recover more gauge than the attack used.
A lot of boss projectiles do give score. Sometimes its good to purposefully use a lower shot power in order cancel bullets for more gauge recovery. You may need to use fixed burst to kill enough enemies for some wave bonuses. A lot of routing comes down to gauge management & point blanking I think.

Indeed, though a skilled Genesis player will not only carefully plan out damage dealt to enemies to ensure that they get the maximum pointgains from each Option for the lowest amount of Option health spent, but will also purposely suicide Options at times to regenerate them at max health for further scoring usage.gs68 wrote:You may wanna add: if you're using Genesis or Murakumo don't let your options get destroyed, otherwise the Burst meter will drop badly. For those holding out for a price drop, UK PS4 version is now a more reasonable £32.99 (and 39.99 Euro elsewhere, apparently)

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Its only 27.99 with plus
I got a shock today when I could finally afford it. Got a chunli te2 Sfv arcade stick today so been waiting on getting this for shmups and fighters. Ended up getting sfiv as well for the full price it was yesterday so happy bear

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Yeah, it gives double points. Didn't notice that it gave you more burst gauge back, though. That explains why I couldn't do some things I watched on replays. Cool link, thanks.Zaarock wrote:Assault scoring isn't that simple, you get a lot more points with the burst finish than the normal hit of counterburst and need to plan gauge consumption carefully. So apparently, this is a thing; $17 for a Steam key for DBCS. Never used this site before though, so I can't vouch for their quality of service.

The Taito DLC videos are up on the JP website: http://darius.jp/dbcs/special/
The release date is March 17; the price is 500 yen each or 1200 yen for all 3.
They've also put up a page explaining what's in each DLC pack and which modes are compatible with the new content: http://darius.jp/dbcs/mode/dlcmode.html

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Was hoping there'd be one new stage or background to match each game. Otherwise it comes down to a ship & BGM. The music in those preview videos seems to be from the originals rather than arrange tracks.
So DLC ships can play Defense, Scramble and boss only missions in addition to their own?
X-LAY finally made the left turn
edit:
more detailed ship info here:

Rayforce ship looks most unique to me, but I'd buy metal black just for the music. Upgradable missile burst with explosions on Inter Gray is neat.
edit2:
Every game collaboration has 3 missions of its own and there are also TAITO and SEGA mission packs.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I bought about three games on G2A (including the not-cheap SFV for 33€), and I had zero problems with them. They don't ask you to register, insert your phone number or ID card (unlike instant-gaming, f**k them). Also, you can pay a single buck to activate the G2A Shield (on by default): if the key they send you doesn't work, they'll give you another one, or a refund.gs68 wrote:So apparently, this is a thing; $17 for a Steam key for DBCS.
Unfortunately you're supposed to set the VAT if you live in Europe. No one does it, but you should. Didn't really want to pay 7 more bucks for SFV, so I didn't. You live in the US, so it's not a problem for you, though. Also, using Paypal makes you pay a little contribution to them (minimum 0.80€).
This I really like.GSK wrote:The release date is March 17; the price is 500 yen each or 1200 yen for all 3.
This I don't. I doubt anyone would want to play through the same exact levels the previous 200 missions.Zaarock wrote: Was hoping there'd be one new stage or background to match each game. Can't watch the video yet, are these exclusive bosses, at least? Or is it merely a music-and-ship pack?

Be aware that there's a non-zero chance the keys you buy on grey market sites like this may have been obtained via credit card fraud or similar methods, in which case not only does none of your money reach the publisher of the game you're buying, you're actually costing them money. Honestly, if you want to save money that badly, pirate the game instead of supporting sites like that.

Agreed. I cringed when I saw this go out on the shmups.com twitter feed. I would imagine that Degica is pissed.

I can't believe they got Opa-Opa from Fantasy Zone and Space Harrier for this, especially after seeing them as Ulala's support in Project X Zone 1 and 2. But aren't they from Sega?

It doesn't seem like the DLC ships would have much trouble being playable in CS mode. Maybe it's possible to mod them in there?
