One is a dream come true: he's polite, clean, and one of my best friends for over 10 years. You all know about the other one. Woke up today and part of the kitchen was cleaned up. Butter stains and other greasy shit still covered the counter top. Still some nasty dishes sitting in the sink with an empty dishwasher. Frying pan lid sitting on the counter, building up condensation and leaving a nasty brown, wet ring on the counter. Such a fucking idiot.

I wish I could. My current roommate has been a friend for ten years as well, but he just does not understand that it costs money to live. It was one thing when he was unemployed and I had a job, but now that I'm unemployed as well I need cash coming in for the bills. My kingdom for someone who will pay rent and isn't a bum.

Yet, it's still better than brand specific tones being used and when the phone's shown, IT'S A DIFFERENT BRAND. If the owner's Chuck, a nerd, it's possible that he's put the old Ericsson tone on his iPhone, but for a CIA analyst to do it, that's just nuts.

People like Sony who force you to update your PS3 firmware and change the power settings to something that turns off the machine before a single movie has ended (I have 3 PS3's so its more annoying).

And recently I noticed my cars high beam highlights fog more than the low beam WTF. You can't even see the fog without high beam on, you turn it on and suddenly.. FOG! There must be some twisted logic behind this.

While I'm here, I might as well complain about the irritating tendency for stores/services/etc. nowadays to advertise their product, no matter what it is, not as [product name] but "MY [product name]", which can be bought at "YOUR [store]", as if everything they make is custom-tailored to every consumer's needs. It's basically a "Your call is very important to us, please stay on the line" that's EVERYWHERE.

I have an appreciation for things that are well built, I expect a machine that costs several hundred dollars to last a bit more than 6 years. frankly, it makes sony's engineers look foolish.

The USPS rates for shipping to Canada are outrageous. In my experience, shipping north of the border costs at least twice as much as a domestic US shipment. Based on the prices I've seen on the boards, it looks like the same is not true when shipping from CA to the US. I'm not sure why this is. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself:

Gabe, we understand the costs of international shipping, but believe me it does not cost $40 to ship a game in a bubble mailer to Canada. In fact it costs about $6-8 depending on the quality of the package (actual cost of my friend's shipping stuff to me). This is a fair price that we have no problem with. I also don't mind playing $40 to ship a bigger box. The problem is the numerous people who price their shipping well in excess of the actual cost. If you can show me it's the price to ship something, then I don't mind paying.

And a new personal annoyance, Job Interviews. I hate them, but they're my future until I find work. Spending today building a virtual lab to refresh my tech skills. FYI I hate Subnetting.
