Cheers for the great write-up and vids GP! Looks like Larsa's been dieting a bit. I really wish this wasn't a limited release.

And one of the guy recording you getting tackled by the employees at Hey! himself getting tackled for recording ? O_O!!

Thx for the article yo~ This black label sounds interesting. I don't understand why they are making boss battles shorter like this though. Also, do the red bugs that cancel bullets in stage 2 still cancel bullets in ultra, even though there are twice as many of them ? I felt there was already too many bullet canceling moments in this game, especially in stage 2 and 5.

PROMETHEUS: Yes, they still cancel bullets in Maniac & God Mode (no Ultra this time).

Cheers to Plasmo on the Ibara BL note (I will change that).

Me getting tackled was more of a polite tap and an odd look.

As for the palette: I didn't write anything about it b/c it very well could've been due to the monitor. You know those LCDs do weird things to low res screens. Stage 3 was the most noticeably different (for me) but then again, it oculd've been LCD x my mind playing tricks.

God mode looks sweet...like Ultra but with less tap dodging. My kind of mode.

I flipped through 2ch a bit. Looks like the stage 2 boss milking in Maniac is done? Hmm.... can't say I'm a fan of over the top boss milking. I thought Galuda 2 was perfect in that sense.

Yeah, looks like the stage 2 boss milking is gone, which is quite nice IMO. Though I find Galuda 2's stage 5 boss milking to be equally annoying.

I wonder if you can still do the big scoring technique on the Stage 4 boss?

ultra wasn't playable in this show, but it is still supposed to be in the game right ?

I don't really like the idea of having so many bullet cancelling bugs in stage 2 :[ I don't know the game so well at all but in the superplays that I've seen, I was often more impressed by the dodging in stage 3 or 4 than in stage 5, because in stage 5 there was a lot of bullet herding combo'd with bullet cancelling. With so many red bugs in stage 2... what will it look like ?

God Mode is there instead of Ultra. So no Ultra.
stage 5 boss milking to be equally annoying.
I thought it was perfect. It's really just a question of stretching each pattern out by a few seconds. If you want another 20 mil or so you can stretch, but it's not totally necessary.

I got to play 1.5 last night for the first time in Bangkok (6th floor of MBK); only got one go but really liked it - I am going to have to buy BL I think at release.

They had 2 giant standups of Palm advertising the game too which I never saw before.

what is the going price on the regular PCB now?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Cool! You should go get yourself a nice whore for the weekend in celebration! What else is there to do in Bang Cock?

I think a bare PCB just went for 70,000-75,000 or so. Still high, but falling somewhat. Patience, Luke.

Ladyboys are the perfect introduction to the world of bi-sexuality.

Is it really whoring if she love you long time?

Not once did i see an arcade with anything new in the whole of Thai Land. KOF2002 was the newest game I saw back in the day.

Didn't see this mentioned by GP but in BL it seems that bombing in Original mode completely destroys your chain... losing something like 70% (or maybe it's a really high fixed number). Probably similar results in Maniac and God. Pretty ugly compared to the ~10% in 1.5.

EOJ posted this. His says zero. I could've swarn I saw people have at least something left over (in Original) when they bombed, but who knows. It can also be tweaked for the final release as well.

Yeah in the Stage 2 Palm vid, he bombs at ~11800 and drops down to about ~3500. That does take his Stage total down to 0 from ~7200 though. Dieing seems to have roughly the same penalty as before... meaning now it's better to die rather than bomb? I don't really like the sound of this change so far, to be honest. :I

Well, not if the loke test version remains the same as the release version. From what I've read, there are ZERO extends in the loke test version (even the stage 5 fixed extend is gone), which means you'd only have 2 spare lives from start to finish. So you're much better off bombing than dying if you want a 1CC, but you should of course avoid both if you want a good score. Sort of an interesting system, if it holds true to the final release.

In original mode, you shouldn't need to bomb anywhere anyway, if you play it a bit. The only time I bomb before the last boss in ver 1.5 is on the last phase of the stage 4 boss. But with the added firepower this time around, that should be easier to deal with without a bomb.

Obviously, but no changes is only speculation at this point. In fact, didn't someone who went on Monday say someone from Cave was talking to people? Where did I read that? For 150 PCBs, making a change within 10 days is not far fetched. They could've also had a no-extends setting (or any setting for that matter) for the test.

GP what do you think of this one versus the 1st mushi? I love the 1st mushi alot, one of my favorites from cave if not favorite.

what about you others guys/gals.... what do you think of this second one.

oh.... got to ask on just a graphix stand point how good does it look?

Futari is about 10x better than the first in my opinion. Only thing I really miss from the first game is Stage 3. Both of the new scoring systems are a lot of fun.

Graphically Futari looks pretty nice overall for the most part. The stages are very nice looking, the weapons look nice (especially Palm's), and there's a ton of shit going on at all times. There are thankfully a lot more than just purple colored bullets in this game too... Now there are pinkish purple frequently used, and there's a lot of bullets unique to bosses and midbosses.

I only have a few complaints. One is that the Stage 1 boss is kinda dopey looking... sadly still suffering from low budget 3D modeling like Cave loves to use, but it's not really that bad anyway.
Second is that I wish there was some nicer indicator for your chain in Original mode. The number in the upper left is kind of out of the way so glancing over to see what the hundreds digit is can be a pain... and the number that pops up when you pick up gold can be hard to read accurately to know when a switch is coming. I just think they could have found a nicer way to handle it.

I like the first one better in just about every way. Kotani Tomoyuki is a better artist than HACCAN, IMHO. The scoring in Futari, while inviting, doesn't seem too horribly original (in any mode). Keep in mind that the first one was Cave's first outing w/ the SH3 architecture. ANYTHING after it should look much better (and does). You can equate Futari graphically to ESPGaluda II. Both are "brighter" and more visually appealing than their predecessors, but I just liked the setting of the first one better. Maybe it's all the dinosaurs.

Not that I've ever made it there, but the Shin Aki music is pretty wicked. Millions of bullets and some catholic choir singing the main track.

Futari is still a great game... it just didn't win me over as much as the first.

mushi and mushi futari are nothing alike imo.. id say futari has more in common with Espgaluda if you want to compare it to another Cave game.

Futari is absoluteley brilliant anyways. (not that the first wasent, but definetly more of an aquired taste)

Yeah, it's definitely a lot different than the first. ESPG1 > 2 feels almost more like an upgrade, Mushi > Futari feels more like a different game entirely.

As far as scoring goes, the systems aren't super original but I think there's enough going on to make them both interesting. The original Mushi's score system is more unique, but I found I didn't enjoy actually using it quite as much. Full-Auto isn't that satisfying to use and mashing tends to kill my hands.

Also AFAIK there are only Dinosaurs in the first level, unless you're talking Stage 5 but I think those are mostly all dragons. :I

I was more curious mostly about the visuals since galuda 2 is the newest I've played. Well I think Galuda 2 was after Ibara right?

Anyways Galuda 2 is the best looking I've seen so far (not talking style but just flat out grafix). Was just curious about cave's games afterwards ect.
