Hey, when was that announced? I think i missed that.

On another note why are people still wondered if games will/or not get home releases every shooter from the last five years has gotten a home port (with the exception of ketsui and G-stream perhaps)
Because this is a Naomi shmup, and, just because Senko is getting a home port is no guarantee that this shmup will; and even if it does, it's not going to look as good on any other console but the DC, and that's out of the question. Or, consider how good STV games look and run on the PS1, compared to the Saturn. IMO, it really wouldn't kill Sega financially to allow what would probably amount to, at the most, 2 or 3 new Naomi Dreamcast ports a year.

If anyone really wants this game, I'd say get the PCB. With Sega's announcement about the DC, if anything, IMO, we'll see less home shmup ports instead of more.

Sega haven't made any official announcements about the DC in any other regard than to say the system was to be no longer manufacturered and that was a few years ago now, Unfortunately I doubt any more will come now considering peoples over dependancy on the PS2.

Under Defeat is on GD Rom and its not a PCB.

Folks sometimes use 'PCB' as a generic term for any arcade game. Anyway, the GD-ROM drive needs the Naomi motherboard, so it's there.

Thanks, as always, Incognoscente.

That was beautiful :D

Does anyone have any clue on who might be behind that neat metal-based tune ? Could it be Yack. again or someone totally new to G.Rev ?

OMG, if this is the future of shooters then I'm in love! Sure I still favor 2d pixel art over bland 3d models, but this whole interactive environment really makes the game so much more immersive!

I watch the video, and I call this game: "Zero Gunner: Tate Mode." The free aiming of the heli (press a button, and move with the D-Pad to the direction you want your heli to fire) reminds me of Zero Gunner 2. Also the graphics somehow reminds me of ZG 2 as well

Certainly looks a bit special, I love the variance when the land craft drives into the choppy water and seems to work against the current.

G.Rev always put lovely touches of craft in their games, I hope this is very successful for them.

The :P was completely unnecessary, or should I say, more unnecessary than usual.

Composer page here:

http://www.cocoebiz.com/hosoe/index.shtml

Work history (pasted from site):

Dragon Spirit, QUESTAR, ORDYNE, Metal Hawk, Galaxian Series, Ridge Racer Series, Cyber Sled Series, Street Fighter EX Series, Rockman EXE Transmission.

PS2 port would be best for convenience's sake, DC would be better than Xbox 360. Anyways, I reckon any port is a ways off since Ibara and whatitsname are already announced for February.

Thank you Shinji Hosoe for making this release possible :D

*Pre-Orders*

Now where's Ibara ? ;) After that one, my awaited Hosoe OSTs will be complete, as I don't think a Xenosaga II In-Game Music OST will be released by now :(

Ehi, i remember that some time ago, you speculated if Super Sweep would have been a good shmups OST company...i suppose that Yack and Megaten are proving their shmup might, no?

That was incredible. The game looks mighty intense. Like a mix of Zero Gunner meets a more "modern" Strikers 1945. The tilt seems well implemented so far.

Best use of the Naomi I have seen, my mouth dropped when I saw all the little details and how "busy" everything was, smoketrails from explosions, zooming fighters overhead, ect. Love the set piece with the tank (cool treadmarks) and the flight over the destroyed bridge. It may look dirty but it sure is purty.

The Q and A section for the game was renewed on G.Rev's site. The first question seems interesting, it sounds like parts of the stages change (if only slightly) with time of year. The writer questioned why he saw snow falling in one stage. *-neo

That sounds fantastic, in my opinion. I know that it's a lot of work, but since pretty much every console these days has an internal clock, I figure that more developers should make use of such time/calendar-based features, no matter how small. Slightly OT: This winter, I'm making it a point to turn Christmas NiGHTS on at various hours to see all of the different sky variations that I didn't pick up on before.

I'm sure that more developers do it than I think, but in a shooting game in the arcade? Splendid! 8)

I got chance to play a couple of games at the acrade when I was in town during X'mas. It turns out to be a game of pure skill and no powerup / extend. :D

The only thing that puzzle is the scoring mutiplier. You got x100 if you haven't die. x200 if you lost one ship; and x300 if you lost two ships. And this means if you want to score high, you would have to lost two ship early and go finish the game (Loop 1 and 2) with the last ship??!! So that you got x300 at the end of every stages. :?

Why don't G.Rev just give bonus for extra lifes left at the end of the game? :? Well, at least the scoring system would cure those of us who phone to restart when a run turns badly in early stages.

Does the weather really change according to the clock? I know 1-4 is just a snow stage, which may explain the writer's observation.

No. Stage 1-4 is always during the winter. Stage 2-4 is during the autumn, though. Many of the stages undergo cosmetic changes in the second loop, as well as being mirrored.

kay, so he WAS just drunken. i figured maybe there might be a patch of a certain stage that changes based on your clock. my DC resets the time every time i plug it in anyway, so i'd never be seeing anything different. i should really play this game instead of only talking about it. [un]fortunately, garegga, DOJ, mayhaps strikers 2, and ibara have taken extreme precedence over it, for some reason.
