On level three you can shoot some of the towers before they explode to get bonus medals
never noticed that. Also, isnt the Shinden, suppose to be spelled Sinden?

I don't know what "other" last boss you fought, but it's always the same. I just 2-lifed the game on wing king, this game is so easy, but somehow so addicting at the same time. I think it's the online high-score list, makes me want to keep playing. I'm currently 5th, 2nd is within reach.

Its a good game. I think its the whole proximity scoring, which causes you to try to get all the formations before they split or leave the screen. Along with medals and s-ranking the bosses ... keeps a simple game extremely fun. I almost pushed my best over 6.5m but i totally botched the 1st level and last level.

Nope.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Depends on how you romanize しんでん. Typically it's "shinden" because what is supposed to be "si" sounds more like "shi."

Only reason i brought that up is that in 19xx it is spelled sinden. Thanks for that.

Got it earlier today and so far im having fun without too many complaints. Forgive any spelling or spacing errors i might make here as im posting from my phone. I also have to split my post.

First, i wanna say thanks to Capcom for keeping one of my favorite series alive regardless of the fact that it doesnt come to me in a plastic rectangle or giant wooden box. Being able to play a new 19xx series game within minutes in true high def is well worth the exchange.

Though they lack some of the next gen detail many expect the graphics are clean and beautiful. Some of the bloomy explosion effects make the tiny, pink enemy shots hard to see but i easily adjusted. Unfortunately it was probably easier for me to deal since im playing on a 32" screen.

The weapons really lack some umph which is never good for a shmup. You want your weapons to really feel like your tearing ass on your enemies. Main culprit - charge shot. When i fire a giant glob of burning plasma at something i want an impact dammit.

Given the aspect ratio the spread shot feels like a necessity during the levels and really its a downright ugly weapon to use on full power. Only just before reaching a boss have i been picking up the others.

There is def some slowdown in stage 3 on the 360 version. Must have something to do with the boat animations. Its really cool how they seperate into sections when you destroy them.

Proximity scoring is also a plus and really encourages me to get in there and keep alert. The game would lack alot of intensity without this.

The music is composed well but gets a little fruity sometimes. Im a Loop Master man myself, so i would prefer some edgier tunes to fuel the action.

Joint Striking in 2 player mode brings a small but vital co-op element to the experience and promotes teamwork. Its really fun during boss battles.

I cant really gripe about controls much but the main bomb button being at the top is a little awkward when holding the pad normally. I play shmups with my right hand perched on top of the controller anyway, so no biggy.

I really appreciate the backwards chase sequence at the end of level 1. I definetly didnt expect it and found it pretty intense the first time through. The stealth isnt very stealthy in bright orange but its a great looking boss.

This game is worth your $10. I doubt it will stand the test of time with me like 19XX or Loop Master but in all its definetly worth playing.

*Judging from the demo*
Am I the only game who finds this game fuggly and well below doujin standards?
To me it looks like they made this game in one week. the sound effects are mega lame.
commando 3 which was actually a true sequal is pretty great actually, but this just pales in comparison.
Is it just me? I don't even want this game for free. I played the demo, but I might as well delete the demo, for me it couldn't have turned out any worst.

That was my little brother who beat your score, I'm right behind you. Unfortunately, there's a new challenger who blew us away.

Just got this and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 on the PS3. They're... ok-ish I suppose, but my main question was about the scoreboards - has any else had problems with their high scores not being saved? I've had a few games on each, but when I look at the scoreboards it says 'no scores found' when I try to look for my own high scores.

It sometimes takes a while to post a new score.

Yeah, they're showing up now. Weird.

Just noticed something in WotB:C3 - infinitely respawning enemies. Holy Crapcom, way to completely invalidate your high score leaderboards.

They've reset the leaderboards twice (that I know of) but have yet to fix that problem. If you have enough time you can rack up stupid scores on stage 1 even.

Picked this up the other day. Fun diversion. I agree that it is easy, probably unplayably so for expert players, but the production values are decent and it's fun to play for a while at least.

I appreciate the fact that the PS3 version of this shmup runs at full 1080p native. Not many shmups around that take full advantage of modern TVs but this is one of them (on PS3 at least, Xbox Live version is 720p only)

Now that most new TVs are 1080p, I seriously hope most shmups start using the full resolution of these TVs.

This game. With 5 times more levels each level going up in skills needed, a few new score methodes/features.

Then i think i havae the dream shmup for my next gen console.

I really love the widescreen, i hope many other shmups will follow. Vertical widescreen shmupping is just absolutelay great.

19xx series on widescreen, hd grafix.

Bring it on!!!

I thought both this and Commando 3 were lame. Capcom farms out properties to western devs = disaster.
When they do it themselves it seems to equal success (Ultimate Ghouls and Ghosts).

Necro time!

If anyone's interested, Joint Strike and a bunch of other Capcom digital games are being bundled together onto a physical disc and released sometime in the spring - only on the 360 though.

Very hard to get excited over this release as most of the games suck. Joint Strike was akin to a shaky euroshmup take on the original, Commando 3 was bad with awful western style art, SSF2T HD Remix was an unnecessary, ugly remake (just play the OG. Udon's art is good but doesn't work in this game), and we have all played Final Fight about a billion times already and are sick to the back teeth of it.

So that leaves Magic Sword and Puzzle Fighter. IMO MS is a decent arcade game but inferior to Black Tiger - a bit of a coin grave but solid enough if you don't own the CC2 version, I'm tired of it, but that's just me.

To me the only game worth playing is Puzzle Fighter, although I admit I have not checked out Bionic Commando properly enough to pass judgment.

PS the character from Black Tiger should have been in UMvC3 8)
