It was actually (albeit noted after the post was written)! But I didn't know if it would be considered derogatory so I left it for someone to point out. I suppose I deserve a smack! (<--ROFL)

That said, we've yet to see if Yamaha use some form of mpeg compression in the codec. If so, forget it.
My mistake-sorry, I misread the post on the Demul forum.
I guess that does give slightly more hope for sound in MAME though...

I still have absolutely nothing to say in favor of piracy, and I'm not going to reboot the discussion here, so I won't voice my opinions again either.

But I will admit that the entire technical concept of these games being emulated and running smoothly is amazing, I'll give that. If nothing else, I hope it will result in more people investing in the X360 versions after discovering what great games they are. Deathsmiles still looks better in hi-res. :)

If everything goes right, maybe by the end of this month I'll buy a second-hand 360 plus every cave STG there is in PAL format (i'll have to buy then new if I can't find then second hand, which is troublesome cause i'm not exactly a person with a lot of money).

Anyway, would someone be kind enough to tell me which shmups I can find on PAL format? just in case i'm missing any...

I'd list them all, but I feel like I've done that a ton of times already, and there are threads about it in here.
In short, be sure to pick up Guwange on XBLA. EU releases of Deathsmiles and Dodonpachi "Resurrection". And finally, there are three region free cave games you can import - EspGaluda II (non-limited), Mushihimesama Futari 1.5, and Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets.

Figure out the rest yourself. :)

Does a bunch of different stuff, depending on the game.
I don't know if Cave's games support it for controls, but I doubt it. I guess you could get one of these, or make something similar yourself:

Personally, I'm extremely happy about my Seimitsu stick, and would much rather use that than a keyboard.

You say well Sumez - having got to play Deathsmiles without sound on a PC has inspired me to buy it for 360 now. I'd not realised how much fun it is and wouldn't have but for MAME :D

If you can't even afford a few $3 buttons, I don't think I can do anything to help, sorry. :P Guess you'll have to settle with lo-res Deathsmiles :)

I ordered about a year ago a seimitsu set (6 buttons + joystick) and it was about 40$ incl shipping from akihabarashop.
On second thought, I already had a case and pcb in hand so overall it wasn't cheap at all.

It's right decision, because sh3 arcade games have really poor sound quality (128kbps 16khz mono), some sounds more or less good, but music in DS sounds just horrible.

hahaha! I wonder how much more improved the Ketsui/Espgaluda/DOJ sound could be then? It's not that it sounds mega great. However, I can imagine in the freaking loud ambience of an arcade, sound quality doesn't matter much as long as you can hear satisfying "BOOM" noises and loli moans/screams (which is why they sound so loud and over everything else).

So out of the sh3 games we have so far which ones are you guys taking to the most? I think Ibara kuro is pretty damn special and its nice to finally see just how different it is from arrange on ps2 ,i cant believe cave didnt release it for console i really think it would get a decent fanbase.

Death Smiles - 1cc'ed twice (Casper and Rosa)

Mushihimesama Futari Black Label - Just have to cut out the stupid mistakes.

I'll probably go to Espgaluda 2 next.

Deathsmiles is easy in comparison with other cave shmups: 1CC with Windia, Casper and Rosa.

Mushi Futari 1cc until 4th Stage

I have barely played the others...

About the sound. I don't care about the quality if what I hear is epic. And from what i've heard on the OST i'll be quite happy...

Aye i 1cced deathsmiles today first day with rosa just under 100mil and it is easy unless you do all the stages on level 3 and enter the suicide bullets stage then its not a walk over, it is mega fun scoring though.

Also I was forgetting a cooperative 1cc on Deathsmiles with a friend: Casper (my friend) + Windia (as Myself)... Quite messy in the end cause i was left with less than a "life"...

It's so fun to be raped on other shmups when you play on cooperative though... And when you accidentally take the Full Power of your friend after a continue because both of our sprites are overlapping... that's a classic...

And BTW, how many of you play cooperative with a friend? Have you aimed for a cooperative 1cc sometime?

Are there any differences in gameplay speed between MameUI and the normal command line version? I can get Mushi and Mushi Futari running in MameUI but they are really slow. When I try them in the command line version I get the same "missing roms / CHD" message that others have gotten.

I've looked around this thread for the answer to my problem and I can't seem to find one other than "keep poking around." The solutions I have tried did not work. Anyone have any advice on getting them running?

Sound support was just added (It's not MPEG) although currently only SFX play, no music. Only the basic decoding is in place. I won't post binaries, as it wouldn't surprise me if sound support improves quickly now.

What exactly are you blaming MS for now? Letting Cave release excellent shooters on their console in glorious HD updates?
