I watched this video and became a man.
2nd loop was just beyond silly, easier to shoot myself in the head.

Thanks for that. Pretty funny. I like that nerd's HATE  . yace from the French Shmup forum was asking me whether I knew the Silver Surfer game (Pestro87 uses the Possessor character as his YT avatar).
Looks extremely unfair.

It's not, the game gets an overly bad rep thanks to AVGN. Here's my 1LC video.

Nice 1LC!
So I guess that nerd Youtube guy just wasn't applying any thought or skills to the game.

Yeah I didn't mean 1cc. It's just awesome to see someone beat ghost and goblins on an original nes and not cheat. I challenge anyone to try that game and beat it, continues or not. I own it and really suck. The sequels on genesis and snes are just as hard.

Don't know about the NES version since i haven't played it but i've 1CCed Chou Makaimura on SFC and know of alot of people here in sweden who have 1CCed the arcade releases of Makaimura and Daimakaimura - which seem much harder than Chou.
It's like it is with every kind of game - with enough and correct practice anyone'll be able to 1CC.

Since you guys are talking about GNG anyway, might as well put up my recent 1 life clear of Ghouls and Ghosts/Daimakaimura on here now.

I have cleared the game's first loop too, though not on one life. I would say that Capcom missed a trick by not making the second loop significantly harder than first. Excellent game in any case though.

I like the randomness between. It is only there to a limited degree. Actually, it would be more fun if there was more randomness in some parts actually ... later half of stage-2 comes in mind as one example.

Another minor complaint would be awful weapons spelling a game over(sword is worst, torch is next ... but with a decent special attack apparently!). It would be better to have a primary/secondary weapon. Also, axe isn't half bad ... though having it for a some portions can create difficulty ... mostly because poor rate of fire (its trajectory is a mixed bag, both useful and problematic depending on situation).

Also, I don't think you need to know so many obscure things just to clear the game! Though knowing about the ability to divert the swarm (by hitting it) for the bee boss(stage-5) would have been quite useful. I had a few credits ending there because I would just stand still and hope for the best. So that part wasn't unfair afterall.

Yeah, a rank increase or something on loop 2 would be great.

The second half of stage 2 does have a fair amount of randomness. The bats are pretty random, and sometimes they'll spawn in the middle of a jump at a really hard angle that'll force you to hit them when you're like a pixel away from colliding with them, it's pretty cool. In the burning village, I'm not sure if the fire bats spawning from the floor and ceilling are random or not (they seem to be in a different place each time, but I'm not sure if it's on a global timer or something), but the plants are static.

And yeah, the weapons need a bit better balancing. Another problem with the axe is that thrown axes don't dissapear on contact with enemies, so you can't point blank enemies either. This makes some bosses take twice as long to defeat lol.

Kaiken TLB clear: Just pulled this off earlier. Not an incredibly difficult game or anything, but I definitely want to keep coming back to it because scoring is so much fun.

EDIT: AAAAAAAND the full Kaikan OST so you can listen to mostly the full soundtrack in all of it's non-muffled out glory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1DjPJiWr0E

Cool looking game ResumeDPosition.
I like the strong looking firepower and non-confusing display.
Congrats on the TLB clear!

@Squiregrooktook: Nice replay mate! ;) I 1-life'd Daimakaimura up until Lucifer and I caved in and list a single life on him. I was sooo pissed off. He's the easiest boss in the game for me as well ;(

Nice vid Ex_Mosquito, I also used to do both loops of Ghouls n'Ghosts when it was first in the arcade. I vaguely remember I used to do some kind of rinse & repeat score maximization thing on the last stage of the 2nd loop...
I didn't do Ghosts n'Goblins though. I left that to my friend Morbid John. I think there's a rapid forward tap with firing method that enables faster firing.

Oh man, that happened to me at least twice. Lucifer really scares the hell out of me (no pun intended), though that might just be because I've only encountered him a total of 5 times and don't really have the fight "figured out".

Yeah, I think you go back to the beginning of the last stage on the 2nd loop if you don't kill Beelzebub with the Psycho Cannon.

Cheers DEL ;) ah nice! I didn't know you played anything other than shoot em' up? ;) I think it's overrated how hard it is really, it isn't that difficult really is it? Ah yeah, that trick kinda makes high scoring on GnG kinda pointless. It's a real shame it loops forever like that. My mate used to do that tapping forward trick on Ghosts n Goblin, it's a pretty neat trick that only appears to work on the first game.

@Squire Gooktook: He really is a pushover for a last boss, I was secretly counting to 10 in my head when I died ;)

Yup, that was it. I used to do that over and over on the 2nd loop's last stage then ALL it on my last life. Shame I never wrote down my score on that one.

Oh yes, I used to complete any type of game that I liked: Strider, Shinobi, the classic Black Tiger, Midnight Resistance, Wardner, Xain D'Sleena etc etc. Mostly 2D arcade platformers.
