Both are former XBLIG games (Revolver360 is by Japanese indie dev Cross Eaglet, Prismatic Solid is by Japanese indie devs Active Gaming Media and YO1 KOMORI); their developers chose to bring them to PS4 after the success of Resogun.
In case you are wondering why they are coming to Playstation 4 only and not to Xbone, see here: http://www.4gamer.net/games/990/G999025/20140307090/
D@Xbox is "currently targeting only incorporated game developers", which is why these Japanese developers said goodbye to Microsoft.
Thank you for sharing this. XBLA games are off my radar so this is the first I have seen any of these. Prismatic look like it might be fun in that sort of Jeff Minter mind expanding sort of way. I would check this out or at least try out a demo.
That being said, what is it that continues? Further evidence of XB360 leftovers being ported to the PSN and the Playstation brand, more evidence that any STG on next gen must have crazy particle effects, more proof that these could have happened on prior gen? If you are saying that this means that PS4 will be the choice for shooters (since they also had the cool looking Resogun) I feel it is way too early for that. As someone who has low interest in next gen at this point and watches from a distance, I think I am equally pleased to see a hardcore game like Crimson Dragon on XBone as well. What does everybody else think?
Neato, I'm not too big on Revolver360 but I loved Prismatic Solid's strangely unique and colourful design. It's also good to hear that there will continue to be a place for indie/doujin games on the console.
Revolver360 Re:actor is not on XBLIG, it's a more fleshed out sequel to Revolver360 and still PC only. I think it's a great score attack game and very polished, still wondering why it got way less attention here than Astebreed. ...and Redux
Will the PS4 port Prismatic Solid have any extra modes/gameplay to make it different /stand out from the earlier Xblig port?
The developer of PS had mentioned that he worked on the earlier PSX game of iS: internal section (so that's why it has that slick arcade-spec sliky-smooth 60fps framerate combined with the cool polygonal overall look/style).
I was hoping for a proper PS sequel but to see it on the PS4 is better than nothing.
It's been said that the 360 Xblig version of PS looks more polished than most indie Xblig games out there (especially the main title screen with the various polygonal particle effects running in real time) -- looks stunning on a low-res 15kHz arcade monitor setup via Ultracade uVC nevertheless.
1) The PS4 Prismatic Solid is out now in Japan
2) Seems to run pretty well, once instance of slowdown in a really heavy area.
It's not locked in any way so you can use a JP account and points card to buy it and then just play on your normal account. I'm not familiar enough with the original version to say if anything was added/improved.
That's great news to hear Prismatic Solid is now out on the JPN PSN site for the PS4 platform. The 360 port of PS was quite a stunner when it made it's grand debut back in 2010. Good to hear that SCEI is catering to the indie dev scene and have more indie gaming titles released on it.
Yes, it's common knowledge that if you buy anything from any region PSN site (USA/JPN/EUR/etc.), you can play said game (or game demo regardless of region) but if you delete said JPN PS3/PS4 user account, then your other PS3/PS4 accounts won't be able play said d/l'ed games/demos.
Upon d/l'ing Prismatic Solid off of the U.S. PSN site, it's a mere 185.7mb file and has some slick color changing LED lighting EFX (complete with strobing effects as well for good measure) going on with the PS4 Dual Shock 4 controller when changing to any of the different colored weapons at your disposal -- quite an unexpected bonus/touch that wasn't available on the 360 Xblig version of PS. How cool is that?
