Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
haha, in a discussion about gay marriage, somebody seriously tried to use the argument "well some gay people have problems with straights raising their children too." WELL THEN. I guess it's all equivalent!
Guess they never saw that Chappelle Show skit about the black white supremacist.
Actually, I guess that belongs in the "and it made me smile" thread because oh so zany

1. When you buy records on discogs.com and the seller sends a different release than what's listed in the order. I wouldn't mind if all tracks I wanted was included, but buying a 12" for the B2 track only to realize it's missing on the promo you got instead of the official release makes me furious.
2. When your turntable slipmat sticks to the record every time you remove the record from the turntable!

I use butter rug slipmats and I don't think I've ever had this issue. They're incredibly thin and designed for scratching, might not be to everyone's tastes though.emphatic wrote:When your turntable slipmat sticks to the record every time you remove the record from the turntable!![]()

Applications that consume way more memory than I think they would given their purposes.
For example, Jitsi. It's a pretty good multi-service IM client, but consumes 300 MB of memory for whatever reason, even if I only have one account with two contacts to its name active. Even Skype is more reasonable, at only 135-160 MB of memory. (Apparently, Jitsi uses Java, and we all know Java has quite the appetite for memory, and there's some other technical issues I'm not too well-versed in.)
Ended up switching to Swift, which is Jabber-only but uses a very modest 15 MB.
Then again, there's the entire matter of using a non-Skype, non-LINE service in 2014. But I mostly got back on Jabber because on of my friends, who uses Jabber, detests Skype.

People who say something right after you said it.
Example -
me "its already dark outside"
them "Yeah its dark outside"
I have 2 people that do this type of thing to me every day and since they don't talk much without a bit of encouragement it saddens to hear my own messages echoed back to me so often. Oh well.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

When I order a multi-Blu-ray set from Amazon and they ship them in an envelope to be shattered. Open that baby up and blue shards litter the floor!

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Yeah, Amazon doesn't pack things for shit. Every time I order a nice book set they shove it inside a giant box and stick like three pieces of that inflatable bubble shit in there. It bounces around, corners get dented, and most of the time the bubbles get popped because the set is so goddamn heavy. Idiots.brentsg wrote:When I order a multi-Blu-ray set from Amazon and they ship them in an envelope to be shattered. Open that baby up and blue shards litter the floor!

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Good thing my Infernal Affairs box set came from an external seller. I've never trusted amazon after I ordered Black Dragon and had to put the disc in another case. Lucky the disc wasn't broken.brentsg wrote:When I order a multi-Blu-ray set from Amazon and they ship them in an envelope to be shattered. Open that baby up and blue shards litter the floor!
Also the fact this city rarely cleans the streets. Tons of sand/salt mix on the roads each year well into July. Just sweep the roads! no use in bike lanes if they are covered in sand.

People who turn around and say the opposite of what you say as if it automatically makes them right. You know, like if you're arguing about something and all they say is "no it isn't"

Seriously, nobody cares about your overpriced bicycle-with-motor.

+1. Especially when they are parked and the owners rev the engine for 10 minutes in a populated area. Nobody is impressed.SuperGrafx wrote:Loud motorcycles (ie: Harley Davidsons)

People who ride to the top/bottom of an escalator and then … just STAND there, wondering where to go next, blocking everybody else's path.
For some reason Spanish tourists are particularly guilty of this crime again humanity.

"Vamanos, por favor" should get the idea across.
If not, a punch to the small of the back could to the trick too. Bonus if you manage to make it look like an accident

Watching something American that's changed to PAL, thus sped up to 25 frames per second making the dialog sound like I'm watching a smurf movie. Thank God I only get to suffer through this while watching scheduled broadcasting nowadays.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Pressing the menu button on the keyboard in Chrome when the cursor is over a misspelled word in a <textarea> brings up the menu like it should... except that the spellcheck suggestions aren't there.
Word does this right. XChat does this right. Why the fuck do I need to aim my mouse at a word, right click, and then the suggestions pop up in Chrome?

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I got pulled over today. I showed the police officer my proof of insurance but he wouldn't accept it even though it was up to date and valid. Why? He said it was because I had ice covering the bottom part of my windshield and he couldn't see the vin number. What an asshole. Now I have to go to court for not having proof of insurance even though I did have proof. They'll probably find some way fuck me over once I go to court too. I wish I could round up all these assholes and throw them all on a island together.

you want to throw them in a bottomless pit, not an island, easy to escape from there....MOSQUITO FIGHTER wrote:I got pulled over today. Yeah, that does sound better. Maybe even add in some spikey pointy things to mutilate their bodies on the way down.

I'm sure you can pull out your proof of insurance in court, and the date will show that it was issued well before the incident.MOSQUITO FIGHTER wrote:I got pulled over today. Yeah, sucks to waste time in court but the officer probably won't show up (if what I hear is true).

When people use 'technical' terms but don't actually know what they mean.
Like calling any background effect 'mode 7', or using the term '16 bit' or '8 bit' for pretty much anything at all.
Reaaaaaaally annoying, and I know it shouldn't annoy me so much, but it really does.
