I kind of feel disappointed that most of Raiden IV's music was just Raiden II arranged tracks. Don't get me wrong, they were good, but I would have liked to hear more original tracks.

Correct. Never make the mistake of interchanging the two. Raiden II is lackluster compared to DX. The ironic part is that without II, there would have never been a DX.

Everything makes it godlike. 3 different courses, complex scoring system, beautiful attention to detail and destruction, and the music, in particular "Gallantry" I cannot tell you how many times I have overdosed on that song.

IMO the Raiden IV arrangements are the superior versions. It's like when they showed the guy who composed the soundtrack to Contra, a live metal rendition of his music from Contra, and he said, "yes, that is what I envisioned." I think some of these guys were just held back. And considering it was the same composer doing the arranging, you can't go wrong. Raiden III had original music and it was good.

There's just something amazingly iconic about the 2D Raiden graphics; that ultra detailed look where you can blow up the ships and see individual bits of metal flying off them. The soundtrack of Raiden I & II was phenomenal. Raiden IV is good, but I don't feel it quite recaptures that unique character.

Take this with a grain of salt, as I've played Raiden a lot more than I've played Raiden IV.

Also, I don't mean to offend you, but Raiden III did not have good music. Only Stage 1 and Stage 3 had good music, especially Stage 3's "Dawn of Sorrow". That was one of the best Raiden tracks I've ever heard. Those two stages' music tracks had that "Raiden melancholy feel", the others were bland techno, although not as bad as Raiden Fighters Jet's abomination of a soundtrack.

The destruction and particle effects were copied by Shienryu, right down to the ripples of water and dust clouds, it looks just like Raiden II/DX's destruction effects.

Raiden DX has a fascinatingly brutal medal collection system, and gobs of secrets to learn. I should hate this game but for some reason I just love it. Very addicting.

It's decent at best. It does get your heart pumping with a sense of urgency, but it just doesn't hold up to the classic Raiden games' soundtracks. RF Jet easily has the worse music out of all the Raiden games, probably because Go Sato wasn't the one who composed it.

Not at all, I will agree some of it isn't quite Raiden and just techno. But I felt that it fit the action quite well, regardless. For that, it succeeded for me. Delivering the Raiden "awesomeness" melodies probably isn't an easy task and I suppose the fact that Raiden IV had a lot of remixes was Go Sato's admittance to it...

I like Raiden IV on my 360 but am currently jumping through hoops to get the PS1 version of DX and project for II running on my PS3 in my tate cab. I played DX PCB at twalden's meetup and fell in love.

Dunno about you guys, but I find Raiden IV quite tough, it's an absolute nightmare of fast bullets for me, compounded by the slow ship speed.

That's why I like it though. I haven't played DX for very long, but I thought the first few levels were easier than Raiden IV's at any rate.
