Got the 'hard' clear. 1-lived the first loop. Easy game really, but lots of fun.

Fun fact: About an hour before that 1CC I had a run that hadn't lost any lives (only bombs) going into stage 5, and choked the HARDEST I have ever choked on my life on any video game, and lost my last life 5 pixels of health from killing the final boss >_<

I played a credit of Futari Black Label Original with my girlfriend and cleared it with 2 lives left with Palm. First time playing this game with two players. It gets hard to dodge the bullets because each character pulls the screen horizontally at the same time.

Just got back from SoCal Regionals, where Frenetic, Jelloman, japtor and I set up an STG live demonstration and a high score competition for prizes. It was awesome.

R= Over the course of about ten hours:R= I got a Ketsui 1-ALL off of a mediocre start. Went into last stage with one stock, cleared on my last life and with my last bomb. Great feeling. Decent score for me @ 111mil, PB is just over 120. R= I cleared Mushihimesama Maniac, and got a new personal best. Improved my stage 3 pattern significantly. R= Tried the Mushihimesama X360 arrange and made it through the last boss with 3 stock remaining on my first credit... except since I was playing blind I did not even know there *was* a TLB, let alone one with some of the Ultra patterns. So that ended predictably badly, although I did make it more than halfway through the TLB with no prior practice. I am gonna try it again soon and go for a clear. Surprisingly fun mode. R= 1-ALLed DFK 1.5 Strong. Only two misses and like four bombs in the whole run, by far the best I have done at DFK, though that is not saying much. Still not liking the game much though. R= Cleared Futari BL Original with two stock and a score close to my personal best. R= Also made it to DOJBL final stage twice, but died because I was playing terribly. Interestingly on both runs I managed to no-miss stage 4, which is quite unusual for me.
All of this was performed live and projected onto a screen. Only a handful of people were watching at any given time, but there were some good reactions during more intense moments. Unfortunately we were very separate from the main event, in a totally different room, and advertised only with posters and flyers we made ourselves, so we didn't get as much foot traffic as we initially hoped. We managed to get a lot of people exposed to the games, and several of them stayed at our station for hours trying to compete for high scores and learn games. We even had one attendee clear Futari BL Original!

Shout out to Frenetic for nearly clearing Deathsmiles (GO to Jitterbug with little health left), japtor for some awesome Type-B Ketsui play and some great recoveries (including reaching Cinderella after dying twice in stage one during that run), and Jelloman for helping with gear, hanging out, and giving me a ride. It was really just a great event. I took tons of pictures and quite a bit of video so hopefully I'll be able to put together some documentation in the next few days.

Am I right in saying this is a super easy game to 1cc, or did I just not play through the game properly? The first title was pretty challenging, but I'm really surprised how I surfed through this one.

Did you play the IIX mode? The IIX mode is really, really easy. The arcade mode is more difficult than IIX but probably still less than the original Deathsmiles.

Yes.

It is Cave's easiest 1cc by a huge margin. You can take it really reall far in scoring though.

The arcade mode is more difficult than IIX but probably still less than the original Deathsmiles.

Depends on the level you're playing DS1 at. Leven 1 is definitely easier than II Arcade.

Oh don't worry, I got the Gaiden clear (auto-off ) before I ever cleared Darius II.

And I said G was next... but I just got a copy of Darius Force and... I think it's actually pretty good. I'll stick with it for now and get around to G a bit later.

You get more slowdown at least, so that helps to even things out when it gets really hectic.

Try playing Maniac/God for score. Even on Maniac Novice, you can do some silly score tricks in 2P (max out your multiplier with one person, and then have the other player in front collection gems constantly on the cash-ins, you'll get ridiculous scores).

Holy fuck this game is amazing.



The secret to falling in love with this game is to play Gradius III Arcade and game over on 1-1 and 1-2 repeatedly before immediately playing this afterwards. Everything about Otomedius Excellent will then feel like the best thing ever. You go on some kind of strange high.

I accidentally squished myself and got completely de-powered just before the speed-up section and it ended up in me dying another 8 more times so it's a shame I couldn't even finish the third loop but hey at least it isn't Gradius III AC!

nice almost got to the end of stage 5 in akai katana origin and ended with over 63 mil. ive figured out the timing and spacing on the autofire holding/main shot tapping to get the max Energy orbs with the 3rd ship which makes surviving a lot easier. its a really weird hidden mechanic but its pretty cool i guess. didn't do this run in score attack though so its not on the leaderboard but itd be like top 40. im going to 1cc this very soon i think
