FUCK USPS

When UPS or FexEx deliver, they're always like bang, bang, bang, mofo, package's here. So you open the door, sign for your crap, and obtain the goods.

When USPS delivers a package, I'm not even sure if they walk to the door.
I've been home when USPS claims to have delivered. I've been sitting near the front door, waiting for a knock or anything. Silence. I go outside, check the mailbox, PINK SLIP, fuck everything.

Yesterday, I was woken up from a nap by my sister because I had to sign for a package because "you have to be 21 or older to sign". Wtf is that shit?

Yeah, my USPS carrier is dumb as fuck. It's wet outside from rain or snow or whatever, when I'm not there, they usually shove it UNDER my rubber door mat, which sits on a sort of indoor/outdoor turf carpet on the stairs. GEEZE, wonder if there's any moisture build up down there? Stupid, stupid. On dry days my packages are wet. If they don't shove it under the front door swamp, they'll stick large boxes ON TOP of my mail slot. Glad they don't fall off.

Yeah this happens to me all the time. I work from home and I know they don't knock if they don't feel like it.

Why does the United States Postal Service just ditch your package on your doorstep, though? I know for large stuff, Canada Post is pretty good about leaving it at the nearest post office with a note to go pick it up there.

I've got a dog so I'm kinda lucky when it comes to that. If he's going berserk for no reason by the door, and then eventually stops, then a package is here.

Yeah, I'd be hesitant to knock too in that case.

I once tried to gift a copy of Sin & Punishment 2 to Aru-san, via USPS. He never got it.

While this is only one incident, rather than a pattern of personal incidents, it taught me one thing important: Always, ALWAYS use tracking services, even if it costs a little extra.

It really just depends on what the sender has requested, whether it's insured, etc.. in a general sense amongst US based shipping companies. I used to have a waiver on file with Fedex so they could leave anything of any value.

That's far less annoying than the stealth job of leaving the note in the mailbox with no knock.

And use actual tracking, not just "delivery confirmation", since that shit can validly never update. My Vita seemingly got lost in the mail for two weeks, never saying that it left Texas.

waking up from a dream, realizing that you were editing a nonexistent paper based on some nonexistent Male Coming-of-Age Canon literature (wtf) that you would never read, fighting with autoformatting in the fake document editor. On top of this you realize that you introduced a new theme in the closing so in all probability you will go back to it in another dream.

I am at peace. Hello Bronson, have you come to - *gunshot, Hybrid dying noise~*

Tumblr.

Not the high density of highly-irrelevant content--that's on me for making poor following decisions. Or the entire social justice scene and extreme amounts of shitflinging associated with it, which is everywhere anyway and the fault of the userbase rather than the site itself.

It's the interface and features. I could write a laundry list, but since this is a "little things" thread, I'll just pick a couple specific points:

- Lack of a decent commenting system. Yeah, I know, "lol Internet comments", but that largely applies to high-traffic sites and such. On a personal blog, I rather appreciate comments, whether it be praise, words of comfort, some useful extra information about what I wrote, or even constructive criticism. It's a bit hard to do that when the most lenient you can make your comment settings are "people I'm following and people who have been following me for at least 2 weeks."
- Send a message to someone? Pray that they answer it privately, or that they tag your username in the message response if it's a public response, because there are notifications for private responses but not public ones, so, especiallty if the recipient has a very high post rate, or you remember to check manually, it's hard to whether the recipient responded to you or simply didn't at all.

Aspect. Fucking. Ratios.

The common offense of stretching 4:3 to 16:9, for starters.

Also, when games that are letterboxed or pillarboxed do not get un-boxed if you're playing on a screen using the original aspect ratio of the game. The porting team refusing to have an un-boxed, 4:3 mode for Radiant Silvergun just reeks of laziness, and feels like an insult to those who wish to play on a CRT.

Shit, you just missed a conversation on that here.
One problem I have is when using 1080p on the PS2's GSM it puts in black borders so I can't properly use the widescreen on the games. :x

On another note: Gyazo.

When you open a Gyazo link you're greeted with the image itself...sandwiched between two banner ads. It's particularly jarring with smaller screencaps.

This is why I moved to puush, and later to ShareX.

I gave up caring about the 4:3 -> 16:9 stretch thing years ago. At this point, I'm just "no fucks given" about it.

The thing that does bother me is PC games not supporting anamorphic widescreen (I've got a widescreen monitor, but my machine is a bit too ass to run the game nicely at higher than 800x600 and all the widescreen ratios my machine supports are too hi-res (unless I want to select the always hilarious 320x200 option)).

Oh, and 4:3 pillarboxed for 16:9 then shown on a 4:3 monitor [so, borders on all sides] really fucking grates on me. Almost as bad is letterboxed 16:9 stuff downsized for 4:3 shown on a 16:9 monitor [you could reasonably zoom the borders away on many 16:9 TVs, at least].

CDJapan just changed to a new layout. It's boring, waaaay to much white negative space and I already miss their old site.
The new features, however, are probably good.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who find old, slightly cluttered but rainbow colored page designs & interfaces to be more accessible and easier to read than current modern design with
large white areas and monochrome icons.

The fact that I can't plat Strider. Now.

To expand, I've bought this fucking game on C64, MegaDrive, PS1 & PS2. If it was on the PSP collections (I don't think it was?), that as well. Now the C64, MD and PS1 are packed away. The PS2 looks like shit on the HD TV. If I were talking about an album that I'd bought on LP, tape and CD, I still have a device plugged in that would fulfill that purpose somehow. Yet, despite having spent around £250 and the same game over the last twenty(ish?) years, I can't just play it now. Fuck that.

I'm downloading a MAME torrent as we speak. Last PC crashed and wiped everything, and the chipped Xbox has horrid lag.

Yeah, I think that there needs to be some new legislation to deal with constant reissues for hardware that's obsolete.

The original intention of the copyright protection (in the US) was to promote the development of new software - obviously, letting companies continually flog the same thing repeatedly is a disincentive to produce new content. Of course, we want old content to remain in circulation too, so that's not free (as it essentially was during the age of books), and porting (i.e. when these things fall into the public domain, many years from now) isn't fee either. It'll be perplexing to get the legal and economic issues in sync with the ethics of protecting a person's right to a perpetual license (which some games simply do not recognize or even have the ability to deal with anyway, particularly the online portion of console games, and browser games hosted online). But certainly paying 250 dollars, or euros, or pounds for the same damn content repeatedly is indicative the system is broken, and I don't think anybody can say boo about this, ethically.
