Burning Dragon Plus 2-ALL

My first 2-ALL in anything. I'm happy, and the game is a hidden gem of the genre. More than a little too generous with resources, though.

Burning Dragon Plus is a little Raiden Fighters-ish - nice oldschool manic-ish gameplay, with dozens of little scoring bonuses. It's not nearly as intense, though I think with slightly faster bullets and fewer lives handed out it would be arcade-worthy.

REVOLVER360 REACTOR 1CC

I'm bad but it's a clear. Playing for score properly seems very fun

edit:

uploaded one of the challenge levels that I think looks great and shows a lot of the system:

I didn't want to go though every page, so here's a video by this duo from Canada who do stupendous reviews on all sorts of shmups. Their shows are called bullet heaven. This one is for Crisis Force.

Finally, after around 5 years I've done it.
Gradius IV, full run on Hardest

Now I've beaten every mainline Gradius game (1-5, + Gaiden) as well as a few extras (MSX games, PC Engine version, Rebirth).

That replay is played by BOS, a very talented french player. I've met him at Stunfest '13 and saw him taking Dimahoo apart. It was unbelievable.

Aah! So that's the guy we met at Stunfest last year. 2-ALL Dragon Blaze, Ketsui etc., and a recent starter too. Very skilled player.

Good job! That's my goal as well, to beat all the Gradius games 1CC.

I just recently took down Gradius III Arcade with the wait level at 0: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dC7A3iIdAwg

Your Gradius III video was actually what got me into playing SHMUPs more seriously. I also though that game was 100% impossible when I first played it and couldn't even beat the second level lol.

Oh my god. I think my blood pressure rose quite a bit watching that.
I cringed so hard all throughout the video. So many close calls mixed in with personal flashbacks.
YOU ACTUALLY RECOVERED. Goddamn, I was never, ever able to manage that in the year I played the game probably because I set it to very hard....
Mad, mad props to you for surviving crystal stage to the last. I couldn't tell you how many runs ended there for me, breaking me to tears at times.
I don't know what else to say. Congrats dude. You beat GRADIUS III ARCADE, the most horrible shmup you will ever play seriously. Nothing will come close to that moment when you realize that you never have to play again. Treasure that feeling for the rest of your life. You may, however, be tempted back occasionally by the awesome soundtrack.

Funnily enough the same happened to me >_>;;. Back in 2008 I discovered this run (A B C D E F G) which absolutely blew my mind at the time. Soon afterward I was playing it full time, and only a full year later did I escape the torment by beating it and finally playing other shmups.

CONGRATS, MAN.
And thanks to everyone else for the support. Hopefully someday I can beat Gradius V on Very Hard and have a full set of Hardest clears.

Thanks for the kind words Seahawk. You are a great player and your videos really did inspire me to try and beat this god awful game haha.

It really does feel like the shackles have been taken off after beating that game. I had so many failed runs at the Crystal stage it's not even funny, it's definitely the most unfair stage I've ever played in any game. I will never forget the horror of that ridiculous stage, what the hell were they thinking with that?! I even read in an interview the the developers actually intended for the player to dodge all the cubes, and that the "wall" strategy wasn't something they even considered. It gets me furious just thinking about it lol.

I'm getting into Gradius IV now, and it's a much more pleasant experience. I feel like there isn't anything nearly as unfair in GIV as the Crystal Stage in GIII. Sure, it's a very hard game, but it feels a lot more fair.
