I believe all vertically oriented VC arcade games support TATE. I know Zaxxon and Star Force do.
Tyrian has a homebrew port(Opentyrian).
Uridium for C64 is also on the PAL Wii shop. There is a way to convert WAD's to other regions for a modded Wii but I've never been able to get it to run after patching.
I had no idea the Wii/DS online networks are going down. I guess it had to happen sometime. I never used it much but I'm gonna try to get as much as I can out of them from now to then. What online games are worth playing on Wii and DS? I pretty much only played SSBB and TvC:UAS on Wii.
Shmups for Nintendo Wii
Re: Shmups for Nintendo Wii
I read that the servers were taken down due to glu raising the price of the gamespy servers, which Nintendo used for their online games. I heard online play for some PC games like Neverwinter Nights was taken down becuase of issues with glu too.
I'm a slight bit disappointed they are going down, but I thought it would happen sooner or later, especially with the outdated internet of the normal DS. I haven't been able to use DS internet due to lack of support of recent encryption.

Geometry Wars Galaxies supports the Wii's Classic Controller and, for me, it's one of best entries in the series (I own them all).Obiwanshinobi wrote:Geometry Wars Galaxies isn't awful, but too much grind for the sake of unlocking the whole game. Still, if you want boxed GW (technically for two platforms at that), it's pretty much the Hobson's choice. Unfortunately doesn't support GameCube controllers, which makes no sense whatsoever.
