favorite online radio stations

Post by professor ganson »

My alma mater, UC Davis, had an amazing radio station when I was a student in the early 90s, and it's still quite good:

The problem with college stations is that there are always so many shows that are crap.

So what do you like?

It's not very good, however, my show plays on there Sunday nights (visit the site to see the schedule) and it's awesome. It's about this cyborg-alien guy from the Galactic Music Censor who is going to destroy Earth for being responsible for so much bad music - and the show is a countdown to Earth's destruction.

I really enjoy listening to http://www.gamingfm.com Unfortunately they have not been fully operational for some time now. Only a few low bandwidth streams work.... sometimes. When it was fully functioning it was fantastic. They had a request system going. They also had a fair amount of shmup soundtracks. One day I hope that the admins of the site will return to put it all right again.

I'm also and avid listener of http://www.slayradio.org If you are in to SID tunes and like C64 remixes then this is the station for you. They have scheduled live shows which are really great. You can also make requests for this station but only during a live broadcast.

starstreams.com (Musical Starstreams)

Musical Starstreams is an "exotic electronica" channel. They have not just their online channel but there's also the radio show (WNUA in Chicago has it Sunday nights at 10pm). XM77 also airs it from 4pm-6pm daily.

Some artists they've played include Bluetech, Loop Guru, Moby, Sacred Spirit, Sounds From the Ground, and Tosca.
Kinect? KIN NOT.
