There's a 12M (1h 30m) HARD run on youtube now...how cool is that!? :D
I'm almost glad that the game looping limit is broken.
Alfred wrote: Word of mouth will help sales on XBLIG marketplace. I recommended it to two of my friends on xbox live a Scotsman and a Japanese man and they both liked it and bought it. I will try to get others to try/buy it thank you for releasing it on Xbox mate.
Super thanks Alfred!
Appreciate it immensely!

Edit: Anyone know what his means? Don't tell me it crashed at the first boss...(my google translate interpret from twitter)

Best way to implement FREE PLAY, IMHO is how it was done in the DOJ port. First you get one credit, then after a condition's been met, add another two, then five more, then FREE PLAY. I don't remember the conditions, but something like five credits played for the first unlock, no-miss stage one for the next (if the first has been unlocked) etc.

I remember seeing older guys (with more money than I had) trying to kill the fourth boss in Rastan on continues. What a waste of time/money.

Endless loops are awesome, in my opinion ;) As long as the game gets hard enough that it's not cake to loop forever, that is!

I think he's laughing at the sound effect that the first boss makes when it shoots

Haha, great! Thanks! Got worried there for a minute (or hour, really). :D
Another point to the todo then...'find better sound effect for enemy fire'.

The player did get a "proper" game over, but I don't know if it was of boredom or not.

So the aspect ratio is supposed to be super skinny? I thought it was my display settings at first.

That and a couple odd sound effects were my only issues, still great though!

I had my first proper go this morning (after only squeezing in two mins last night EDIT: and having to quit to do something else before I'd really got started). Tremendous fun, and proves simplicity can be a strength done right.

I made it to the stage 5 boss (end of first loop?) before three silly deaths! Had to put it down to get on with some bloody work, but itching to get back to it! I may have experienced a big with my bomb stock not climbing above two when picking up more (you can hold three, right?).

It deserves attention, so did my little bit with a recommendation tweet; that attracted a few retweets and favourites, so it obviously has some appeal! Hopefully that gets it a couple more fans! One was from the former boss of DmC/Enslaved/Heaveny Sword studio Ninja Theory. He's a big shmup fan (used to have Ibara in a candy in their studio) so might help a few more games industry types try your game.

Thanks! Please list the sfxs that sucked. :)

You should be able to hold endless number of bombs. Added it to the "possible bugs" list. Thanks!

Huge thanks! Suprised by all of the positives, as it's as you say quite simple in content and execution.
I guess it does upset people just as much as they can handle and gets fun that way. Just like Flappy Bird...

In spite of my objection to always online bullshit like XBLIG, I'll lend my support at some point this week.

A DRM free PC version would be appreciated (the link in the Dev thread is dead) though, so that there is some prospect for playing when Xbox Live goes or the internet is down.

I might be wrong, but it seemed the case.

Yeah; I love a complex, convoluted scoring system, but sometimes a straight up simple shooter's all you need. A refreshing change, even!
TransatlanticFoe wrote:always online bullshit like XBLIG
I've got to admit, it seems so daft that XBLIG is always online only. What's their justification for that? I can understand the argument that no leaderboards, achievements etc. means that it's a less commercial and supported space, and thus one MS can leave it less regulated, fostering a place for experimentation, or proving ground for new dev talent, but making it always online seems to only serve to limit the access to these games, and thus their potential. In a world where there's so many other places for indies, start-ups and hobbyists to get games to the public, you'd think it would be in MS' interests to make XBLIG more accessible to the public.

Because if someone one day went mental and snuck in some code so that after 90 days a picture of a swastika came up with Obamas face on each wing with a racist caption - MS need to exercise every method of control to take that shit down and stop it. Remember that XBLIG is a service that is governed by the userbase. Games are not screened by MS, they only go through peer review. So they must control the content. Want to argue to the contrary? Go take the security off your wireless first.

Also patches can be enforced!

It doesn't really limit our reach at all, since the only avenue to buy these games is online and for the most part it's very unlikely you will find an xbox360 out of range of a usable internet connection.

As for the DRM aspects - this offers us some small amount of peace of mind that the majority of players will have actually paid for the game. Though I've donated free copies to sites that actively pirate xblig games after finding mine listed on there and then subsequently received donations in my paypal.

If anyone still wishes to bemoan DRM on the "principal" that the content may one day go away, please tell me with your hand on your heart that you have never played Touhou/CrimsonClover, do not have Touhou/CrimsonClover installed and if you do - please show me the receipt and then argue your case of legal backups.

That's kind of a silly statement considering that many members here have legit copies of those games.

As do I - I have a copy of Clover I bought from Rancor. It's not really a silly statement at all - there are many who do not and I would be willing to bet the cost of many beers that out of all the players of these games, the majority have not actually paid.

If you've bought a copy, you're clearly not in this bracket so I fail to see how this is a silly statement at all.

I will buy Crimzon Clover and even play it when it's on a console and TATEs.

I meekly admit I've not actually ever played Touhou/CrimsonClover, so while I can't speak for the last paragraph, that all sounds fair and reasonable. Good points.

The matter of not having an internet connection post buying a game for some reason plays on my mind as an argument to the contrary, but I can't remember the last time the internet was down where I am.

Anyway, I bloody love Twin Tiger Shark! Just got the default 'easy' 1CC (made it to 2-2). As there's no 'normal', I'll have to try and down 'hard'! Is the second loop of 'easy' the same as the first loop of 'hard'?

Snagged this on OUYA and I like it a lot! I haven't fussed with it much yet, but does this have 360/PS3 controller compatibility?

Does if you buy it on 360!!

(Sorry couldn't resist)

Does the Ouya support other console controllers then?

Has nobody linked to the official high-score board for TTS in this thread? This one. :)

Also, while my last score's QR code scanned fine, it didn't take me through to the board, and it doesn't seem updated. Any reason you know of Mice? I can always be patient, or play it again!

The real argument against XBLIG's "you must be online to play" thing is that if they servers ever get pulled (to force people to buy their shiny next gen system) all those games you bought are now worthless garbage since you can't play them without authentication servers.

I think you played with a controller that wasn't signed in, could that be the case? Does your hiscore screen say Guest 1 on that score?
Then you would have been registered as Guest 1 and I can find this for Guest 1 in the logs: Easy - 2-2 - 2,961,400, could it be it?
But that one didn't manage to get registred in the HS list. :?
Will look into it some more.

Thanks and yes, second loop (and all that follows) of Easy is the first loop of Hard. Second loop (and all that follows) of hard is "Harder".

Yes, PS3 controllers confirmed working. My wired X360-clone controller works as well, so I guess dongled X360 controllers works too...otherwise I think I would have heard complains.

Again, thanks all! Appreciate all of this!

EDIT:
ele2424 got a 21M score...must have taken 3 hours. His first reg score was 3 hours before that one as well.
How cool is that? Ok I'll tell you: lots! :D

That was my score! And I only just noticed I'm 'Guest 1' on my local high-score board with that score. I was using a Hori EX2 arcade stick.

Anyway, I just cleared the first loop on that same stick with 3.4 million, and it registered fine. I actually 1-life cleared the first loop. Lost my first life at 2-2... and all my lives at 2-2!

And I see ele2424 got to the ninth loop! Wow! I'm just terrible at concentration past the first loop. In my 3.4 million run, it was fully-charged green laser complacency that was the end of me; I just stop bloody concentrating!

The reason why you need to be online to start a XBLIG is because they have not been age rated. Getting a video game age rated by all the different countries must be a slow and costly procedure for a indie developer.

This game is only £0.65 and you will probably still be able play it five years from now. I get the points about wanting a physical hard copy.

Congratulations Mice. Just noticed that your game made it to the dashboard when you go to indie games, dont know if it applies worldwide or not.

- If someone has a neogaf account mayby the could do a post about the game in there shumps thread.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread. ... 85&page=72

- I notified ele2424 about the game. I figured that since he is ranked #1 on trueachievements shumps section he hopefully likes your game. Apperently he did :D

He had a 2M score registered 3.5 hours before that 21M run so he must have spent at least 4 hours straight playing the game...sick. :D

Really appreciate what you're doing CRP!

I've got all my consoles packed away as moving house but will pick it up as soon as I unpack.

My love of STG's started with Flying Shark at my local kebab shop. Couldn't continue on that at the time and remember being killed by the first bullet of level one on my first.

Think I might have just shed a tear of nostalgia.

Great its going down so well! I noticed the response on Twitter has been really positive too. And really nice to see that there's still much love for a shmup like this today when, in terms of new releases, so often the more extreme realm of bullet hell gets all the attention (I love both styles, of course).

I agree! But interestingly enough I think the general public outside of shmups forum tend to lean towards more classic games or certainly easier shooters with less to learn due to them not really approaching them competitively as some of us do. So I would not be surprised to see TTS doing very well on this basis
