list of shumps for MAME?

Post by ParryPerson »

I was wondering what are the great shumps for MAME? I'm not asking for links or where to find them. Just a list of good shumps that could be played on MAME.

Thanks.

You can display all the shooters in Mame32 by clicking on "genre" in the left of the GUI. Theres enough shooters to keep anyone going for the next 100years :)

Everything from Cave up to Progear, and everything from Raizing/8ing up to Battle Bakraid, is more or less 100% emulated and doesn't require an especially fast PC. All the classic Toaplan shmups are emulated, although many lack sound and Batsugun has graphic glitches as well. Psikyo's lineup is emulated albeit with some glitches in the later games.

Basically, name an arcade shmup from the mid-90s or earlier, or a later one running on purely 2D hardware (not PSX- or Saturn-based) and the chances are it's fully playable in MAME.

there's a big list in the review archives, and a lot of those are emulated.

personally I like most of the games that were done by Taito, Toaplan and Psikyo.

Complete list of all emulated games. You can also sort by genre, or sub-categorize things into such genres as "Flying vertical" "Spaceship vertical", and other such interesting things.
