Thor AVC 100 Issue

Post by Triforce919 »

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out with an issue I've been having with my Thor RGB switch. I'm trying to get my SNES connected properly (I have tried a few other system and the same issue happens). I'm having issues with the video. I first tried plugging my console into the Thor with my RGB cable, and then connected to my XRGB Framemeister, then through my TV with HDMI. I can hear sound but no video. I've tried this setup on another TV with no avail. I even tried using my composite SNES cables, connecting it to the the Thor's AV input, and connected it directly to my TV, but all I can still get is sound. This is not an issue with my cables, as the RGB one works when connected directly through the framemeister.

I'm using everything that came with the Thor, and I bought it new. The only component I've added is a plug converter to change the plug to an American style one. If anyone can shed some insight on this issue, it would be much appreciated.

I've tried new power adapters with the same voltage instead of using the converted plug, and the issue still persists. All I can get is sound, and no video. I think I've pretty much thoroughly tested it to the limits of my abilities. If anyone has any idea what could be going wrong with my switch it would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could have someone open it up and repair it if that needs to be done, or even another solution for an rgb scart switchbox? As far as other switchboxes go, I would like one to support five inputs minimum.

It's either a ground problem (you could use a multimeter to check the continuity of the ground lines from the input of the switch up to the Mini's input) or the switch screws with the signal's impedance so much that the Mini can't see the signal anymore. In the latter case it's just not compatible with the Mini.

I use a Thor AVC 100 switch in my setup and I haven't had any issues with the Mini. At various times I've connected Amiga, PS2, N64, Jaguar, Saturn, PC Engine and even C64 via S-Video to it and all worked with the Mini just fine.

I have to ask, but are you actually powering the switch on? It's display comes on bright even when it's powered down, but you have to hit the power button to get a picture (at which point the display goes even brighter). I am sure you did that but, just making sure.
