I was expecting to see a pixelized nude portrait of Plasmo. You disappoint.

the fuck is up with her feet

The CG movie model was pretty grate, but her in-game model...well...looks okay from a distance but get her face close to the screen in the spots where the game lets you, if you want to see something else that's jarring.

Basically, Vagrant Story was the better game in every way. I could see having an attachment to PE's setting, story, and characters, though.

Ha... yeah. I'd say that's with almost every PSX game, though. Don't look at the face! But really, the model presented here looks kinda built, really. Replace her head with a duder and you'd have some bloke from Final Fight or a greaser juvenile delinquent.

Vagrant Story's model faces all look great though - and good thing too, because of the in-game cutscenes showing them off all the time.

One of the things that really sticks out like a sore thumb (if I can invert the topic for a second) is that crappy Wyvern model. After you get over the awesomeness of the first one's appearance, you start to notice how dumb it looks in comparison to the rest of the awesome cast, bestiary and humans alike.

Mmm, yeah, you're quite right. Still haven't played Vagrant Story (despite owning it), but a quick google image search proves me wrong. Didn't think it could be done! Those actually look quite nice.

In the middle of the usual fall/winter Silent Hill 1-4 replay I like to do every few years. And jebus, I'd forgotten how good the CG, modelling and mocap work on the PS2 games is. SH1 has only serviceable 3D animation but it too has Takayoshi Sato's alchemic CG cinemas. Masahiro Ito's fan favourite SH2+SH3 monster designs wouldn't have resonated so well without Sato and Shingo Yuri's contributions.
