I like the game for those reasons:
- it is quite intuitive;
- stages are quite repetitive, thus one thinks that enemies come in random order;
- the overall atmosphere is raw, like playing not a game but a program;
- it is relatively easy, thus perfect for survival and highscore attempts;
- music is nice;
- the blade is a helicopter, which is refreshing.
Also I have fond memories from early chilhood and childhood, when Ashura Blaster was presented for years in the local arcade. Of course, I do not like the game solely of nostalgia.

Re: GD: Ashura Blaster
You have some truly bizarre tastes, Arcade Legends 3. I guess that's cool.
Do you refer to all playable craft in shmups as "blades?" That would be extra cool.

Re: Ashura Blaster
Sorry for bumping a 3-year old thread, but "nice" does not do any justice to this game's soundtrack. It's my second favorite shmup soundtrack ever, the only other game that I know of that has awesome music like this is Gun Frontier. This amazing soundtrack is overlooked by everyone except me, and so is this game unfortunately.Arcade Legends 3 wrote: - music is nice

But ya, Fox bro - good soundtrack there indeed. I think we already discussed it in OT but I dig its similarity to the downcast intensity of Night Striker's OST, along with their shared Taito hardware sound.

Oh yes I remember now we did discuss it indeed, and I, too really enjoyed the sound the Taito hardware produces. Oh how I wish there was an arranged version of Ashura Blaster's soundtrack, that would be godly, and so would the Raiden soundtracks arranged on Taito hardware. Hmmm I have no experience with hardware itself, but I wonder if it can be done.BIL wrote:But ya, Fox bro - good soundtrack there indeed. Re: Ashura Blaster
Yeah, it's too bad that the only good thing about the game is how kick-ass the soundtrack is

<S.Yagawa> I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go.

I agree with you there, the game itself felt like it ripped off Twin Cobra, right down to the weapon colors and what kind of shots they correspond to, and the hitbox was unusually large, but I enjoyed the game to an extent.trap15 wrote:Yeah, it's too bad that the only good thing about the game is how kick-ass the soundtrack is
