It usually takes about a week for post to arrive in the UK from Germany. Last few packages I've had came in 4-6 days (all within the past month), but I've had stuff take nearly 2 weeks (albeit a few years ago).
The collector's edition hasn't been shipped yet (I got an e-mail on Friday to say it was being prepared)

Thanks for the info, here's hoping its not too long.spadgy wrote:Not sure, but I think I'm right that they are shipping in the order that people paid in (I preorder in November 2012, I think!), but that with preorders the version ordered is the main factor. With preorders, I think DC standard edition went first, then LE, then CE (seems the wrong way round, but might have been about what was produced first). I may be wrong. I know Rupert H here in the UK hadn't got his CE when I'd got my LE.
Still, the wait will make it all the more exciting when it does arrive! And I'm sure it won't take too long; Germany to UK is a relative stone's throw, in terms of shipping.

why don't you buy from the UK ?Enemy wrote:Thanks for the info, here's hoping its not too long.

Great service from Lee at that site too! Sure, the prices appear high, but when you consider they already include any tax/import/duty/shipping into the UK, it's well worth it.
And, with NG.Dev stuff, VGI often have bundles and specials that I believe are distinct from those offered directly from NG.dev.
Lee's a lovely chap too; that helps!

Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013
I got mine from VGI.
941,400 is my top score at the moment which got me about a third of the way into level 2. I find chaining quite difficult at the moment. Also need to buy another pad that works with the DC. The official pad is hurting me.
The ship does move too fast so I find myself pullng the right trigger quite a lot - especially when in a tight spot.

With the track record for bad shipping some current devs have, buying from a middle man like videogameimports is a smart move, as he's skilled in the art of shipping games.
I prefer paying a small extra amount to receive a pristine game package than the hassle of haggling with people with no sense of customer service should something happen during transit.

I'm starting to hit 1.5 million by the end of stage one if I can Max the medals just before the boss. And I'm just starting to get to stage 3.
But for every good credit, I have five where I erratically dart about and collapse by the stage two mid boss. Grrr...

And I've created a high-score thread for Neo XYX. Submit your scores, even if they aren't up to much yet. If we all submit scores there we can all work on getting better together! Don't be shy!

Love those VGI exclusives, that Neo XYX T-shirt with the CE is some damn fine finery !!
Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013
This email about a slight problem with a few Dreamcast LE orders came through from NG.Dev today via email. I'm certain they're doing their best to sort it. Could be worse!
Dear customers,
this newsletter only concerns NEO XYX Dreamcast Limited Edition orders that haven't been shipped yet.
The CD pressing factory under delivered us by roughly 100 units. We immediately reordered additional units after discovery. We expected to get the restock today. Unfortunately we just got the information that even with our express order it will take until 4th March until we have them on stock again.
As a small compensation we will add to the 3 bookmark stickers we include in LE orders an additional big CD sticker from the Collector Edition to affected orders.
Sorry for the delay.
Best regards,
NG : DEV . TEAM
Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013
Please tell me this game had zero beta testing of the DC port.
List of stuff that should be super obvious:
1. Settings for the controls are absolutely horrible
I have a PS360+ PCB, and when I use the Arcade stick setting, I see that I now have
A = Main shot
B = Bomb
C = Slow movement
which is perfectly fine (this setting actually works as expected when I try it). However, having played CAVE games a million times, I wanna have:
A = Slow movement
B = Bomb
C = Main shot
so I change the top settings to just that and think, OK, let's roll. Now what happens is, in game, I get:
Slow Movement
Bomb
Slow Movement
giving me the assumption that either these settings are totally broken, or I don't see all settings, and choosing Arcade stick assigns all possible combinations of buttons someone might use are assigned to something of value. Why not right some of this stuff into the fucking manual!?
2. Having no way of exiting a game without the proper buttons assigned
Well, trying to figure shit out, I had to re-start over and over again, and having to just sit and watch, not being able to make the continue counter go down is an annoying hell. Then you have to exit the name input. Well, not even the fucking start button can skip this crap. And you get to input your name even though you've gotten an amazing: zero. fucking. points. You can't skip shit of importance in this game.

Testing stuff is not important if you got a captive audience, I guess.
Now what is the best scenario for those who bought the DC version? Something like Dux 1.5? Good luck.

Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013

luckily I'm not spoiled by arcade sticks - yet
exerting patience watching a zero score is aggravating though
Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013
I'm using a PS2 stick with DC adapter and experienced the slow/shot thing too but only on one combination of buttons (I wanted to use the two middle buttons of the upper button line and the second left button from the lower line). But when I switched everything one button to the left it worked, ie using the first two buttons from the upper line and the first from the lower. I hope this makes sense.
And you can count down the continue timer with the shot button but I agree the rest is annoying.

Yeah, provided you have a properly mapped shot button that is.antares wrote:And you can count down the continue timer with the shot button but I agree the rest is annoying.

I guess I'll have to physically move the button around in my panel. This is so stupid.

Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013
I have the same setup with the PS360+ and was able to remap the shot button to C and the slow movement button to A in game. You have to highlight the selection and use left/right to change the button (in my case, button A (1) was mapped to Y, Button B (2) was mapped to X and button C (3) was mapped to A)
Unless I'm missing something, the slow movement button isn't really necessary unless you need to move slow while not shooting. Maybe for certain sections where you're trying not to kill enemies and risk dropping your chain... Otherwise you can get the same "slow" rate of movement just by shooting, or faster movement while not shooting.

Thanks, I'm gonna have to try this. I only have four buttons on my panel, so hopefully I'll managed to work out which one is which.EllertMichael wrote:I have the same setup with the PS360+ and was able to remap the shot button to C and the slow movement button to A in game. Initially I couldn't remember if I had preordered this game, which I did back in November. But at least you guys either got it or got an e-mail explaining the delay. My status still says preordered but I have yet to get any e-mail from NG.DEV.DIRECT.

If I'm understanding you right this is excactly the bug emphatic and I were experiencing, where shot and slow is mapped to the same button. Try changing back to default settings to see if it's still the same.EllertMichael wrote:Unless I'm missing something, the slow movement button isn't really necessary unless you need to move slow while not shooting. You should shoot wide and move fast while pressing shot button, your shot should get narrow and the movement slower while pressing shot and slow button at the same time and if you press only slow button you just move slower without shooting obviously.
EDIT: Also your shot is blue while pressing shot and green while pressing shot and slow together. So if your shot is always green you got the 'button mapping bug'.

Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013
Isn't ABXY + Start the universal soft reset command for the Dreamcast? I'm not sure if it's supported on a firmware level, or if it needs to be programmed into each game.

Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013
Ordered my standard edition from play-asia for about $45 shipped, hopefully worth it. Not a big fan of their earlier work but the feedback from this one has been promising so figured I'd give it a whirl.

Re: New NEOGEO / Dreamcast game: "NEO XYX" NG: DEV.TEAM 2013
I've been using a DC stick, so everything's been fine for me (though I have been remapping to XYZ as I find that more comfortable).
So, this problem is with running non-DC sticks through an adapter, and solutions like the PS360+? That is a shame; I'd be gutted if that was effecting me. Only to play devil's advocate (I'm not saying this is right or wrong), but can a dev be expected to test with 'non-format' controllers/inputs/peripherals? Is their responsibility ultimately about supporting Dreamcast controllers for a Dreamcast game? And could they reasonably be expected to test every combination of controller and adapter out there? Perhaps, in a niche game for a retro console, they should?
Again, I'm not saying this is the case? Just curious about that perspective.
EDIT: I am struggling to make my tate/control settings save at all. Is it that this game doesn't save any data/settings? I'm sure I replaced my DC/VMU batteries recently!
