Anybody aware of major shipping crisis in Japan right now?

Post by MrOldSchoolCool »

I've tried buying Battle Garegga from 3 different Japan Sellers on Amazon. All of them have cancelled the order. The first seller said:

"Japan is in a state having difficulty in shipment for confusion of the traffic now.
We take a rest until it is improved."

The second and third sellers didn't write me a message but Amazon listed the cancellation reason as "out of stock".
Anybody know anything about this? Had any successful/unsuccessful orders?

Also, I'm not sure if this thread is supposed to be on a different board. I apologize if so :(

lol - I assume you're trying to have it shipped to a country outside of Japan? That usually results in immediate cancellation.
There are no problems here. I ship stuff out on a near-daily basis and haven't had any problems. They just don't want to deal foreigners, customs forms, etc.

Don't most sellers have it disabled if they don't want people buying from other countries? Also, their feedback has comments from US buyers.

I dont know, man. Occams razor, n shit.

If there's a national shipping crisis, someone forgot to tell me or the dozens of people I've had shipments from and to in the last few days, or the Africans I deal with in my full-time job.
Amazon (and Paypal) remove listings on their sites once stock is sold, so that's either another bullshit story (especially if it hasn't been removed AFTER you placed the unsuccessful order) or a very unprofessional service that doesn't keep track of what they have.

This bloody well had better not be the case. I'm selling stuff here in Japan all the time these days.

Indeed, the heavy snow could mean delays of one or two days, but it shouldn't be to the point of companies cancelling items.

Here's where your problem is. You're trying to buy a mediocre-at-best shmup. The good folks at Amazon Japan have cancelled your order in the hopes of giving a hint for you to purchase a much better shmup.

I'll back Rancor up on this, a lot (but not all) of Japanese sellers will cancel foreign orders just because they don't want to deal with it. And it goes farther, some will also cancel your orders even when you live in Japan just because your name isn't Japanese or your address isn't written in kanji.

I used to get random cancellations all the time until I started writing out the kanji and changing my name to my internet SN so they couldn't tell I was foreign. Assholes right?

Their excuse was bullshit, I haven't had any problems getting my stuff from Amazon lately.

I've noticed many sellers listing items but not actually having them. You can pay them and they take part of the money to their source. If they can't find it, it's out of stock all the sudden. I had a copy of espgaluda ii take months to get here and I am guessing they didn't ship until they found the item cheaper than what I paid. There are stores in Los Angeles that do the same thing where they get it from their other warehouse (eBay).

I've gotten a few things fine here recently via ems.

It took almost 2 months for my order to arrive; much longer than predicted, and this very rarely happens.
So there might be something wrong, i dunno

Those Japanese sellers on Amazon definitely seem really sketchy. I got some more messages back from some of them that completely ignored my question. Perhaps they didn't understand, but I tried to make my questions pretty straightforward.

I ended up just buying the couple games I wanted from eBay Japan sellers. I got immediate professional responses from both, as expected. I think eBay just has higher standards and accountability for it's sellers. That might be why the feedback positive %s seem to generally be higher.

Unfortunately many of the bigger japanese eBay sellers are the same. This one for example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271358908729 doesn't have anything in stock. He basically lists what's available from other sellers (Amazon Marketplace especially I assume). He lists most stuff simply as A/A/A condition while you get (rather) varying conditions. Also takes about 5-7 days until he ships anything.

I unfortunately fell for this scheme a while back. Never again.

My rule of thumb is that if I don't see an original item for sale, I don't bite.

Even then, some sellers have their own stock of pictures they reuse and which don't conform to the item quality...I had a run-in with a seller who I uncovered doing this a couple years ago (or so), which I mentioned here in some thread.
