well, it was during japan's "bubble economy" period.. the japanese had money to burn in the '80's.. but shit, that's still ridiculous!!

Doesn't sound that bad for a pack of 3; I still remember $35 anime movies in the early 90's in the US.

probably the finest time for anime... they could release all manner of different / interesting stuff as OAV's and people would buy it up..

shame the bubble burst... just imagine the games we'd be getting!!

That's true, but DVDs and CDs are still way more expensive in Japan, than in the West. I've never really been able to figure out why, although it might have to do with the proliferation of 2nd hand stores here. Companies have to make the people bleed who wanna get shit upon release, cuz otherwise it will just be bought used.
