That's the best thing about invaders in dark souls. They're like random, hard NPC encounters (except that they're not NPCs)

EDIT: T for Teen actually worries me

Loved defending darkroot basin against 3 people, Think i got like 1,000,000 souls from one encounter.
Well, if you want to dodge pvp, you'll need to play offline. This was no big deal in Demon's souls where we played offline to manipulate world tendency. That said, I'm the WORST PVP player, but I welcome the whole experience because ultimately you realize it adds this novel experience. Maybe you're already playing at your best and have narrowly scraped by a bunch of mobs and are about to get to the boss, suddenly you get invaded. Yes, it is stressful and maybe even a nightmare, but also ensuring that whenever you play the game it will be something new. At the moment I am tentatively embracing it, but worried about how frustrating it will get.
I don't mind pvp, I mean I don't want to team up with people and play but I'll happily drop on someone hammer first.

I think Dark Souls won't be hard enough to warrant needing co-op. I think playing along with another out of boss areas would make it a little too easy, and detract from the Souls series.

I don't mind getting invaded, but if I don't want to get invaded I will just be offline ( ) However you are right, getting invaded can be fun, but it also can be shit. Getting invaded directly after a boss fight, is ridiculous and it seems that's the only time i get invaded.

Uugh...
Last time, when Dark Souls was released, I was 100% hyped for around 3 months before the release. I just couldn't think of anything else but the upcoming game, it was silly
I haven't felt that with dark souls 2 though, it has been just "alright dark souls was awesome, nice to see that a new game is coming out" but now, after seeing the cursed trailer, my hype meter exploded once again.
The dark souls hype feeling in my stomach is back, stronger than ever. Goddamn, it's hard to focus on life and school when you start thinking about ds2 every 10 minutes. :x

am i overenthusiastic?

That's about where I'm at now. Somehow, Dark Souls 2 went from 'oh yeah, that's a long ways off' to 'OMG it is almost out!' Pretty much thinking about it all the time now.

Just an interesting aside, but for those still trying to break Dark Souls, did a little math with my level 5 pyro-bro and noticed the damage output with dusk crown + bellowing + power within was doing almost 2.2x damage. I'm in anor londo now with an ascended pyro flame, and with that combo, the normal sentinels are dying in one hit from great combustion. Can't wait to see how fast S&O fall.

In respect to dark souls 2, it is good that this kind of thing is out of the game...or rather, that you level your character, not the pyro flame since I could invade the burg/parish all day with this build and not take a scratch.

I did that on my lv1 darkwraith, except it was in the DLC elevators while invading
stand on the elevator downstairs, wait for them to summon it, cast fire tempest and laugh

Haven't had much time for games in the last week but finally did the O&S run this morning. Ornstein died in around 4-5 hits from great combustion, Super Smough took a little longer with some great fireballs flying up his ass, but still went down absurdly fast. Maybe the easiest run I've had with these bosses.

Followed this with the fight against Lautrec and his gang...they died in one firestorm blast. Jesus!

^^ looks fantastic. ive already placed an order for the CE. The 12" statue is worth it.
Lifegems are an excellent idea. Particularly since you can now be invaded when you're hollow.
It's nice to see a heavy emphasis on covenants and their respective benefits.

This. It's actually quite annoying having all this info available before release. I'm surprised From would let anyone much play it beforehand tbh.

Especially bad if the pc release really is may 31 :( (although amazon as a source should be taken with a grain of salt anyway).

No such luck, but I'll be more explicit about the spoilerish nature of what I'm posting...which will be pretty much everything.

No problem, really. I know everything before release is spoiler anyway.

Let's start an awfully mundane talk : which NPC would you like to see coming back ?

For me, D Souls wont be any good without the disenchanted warrior that greets you at the beginning. Also, female moss seller veeeee he he heeeee please !

Crestfallen warrior 2.0 is in the game. I would be surprised if Patches doesn't show up, despite the logical problems with him being ni the game.

Annoying and disturbing poll for all of you:

If you had to choose one of these things happening in dark souls 2, which would you take? (PLEASE try to answer)

1. The gameplay is easy. You take almost no damage, and almost never run out of healing items

2. The game runs average 20-22 fps

3. The storyline is simplified to mainstream audience (this includes all secrets being told to your face so that you don't miss anything)

Go!

2 without hesitation. 1 & 3 make the game shallow and pointless, 2 just makes the gameplay annoying. I think framerate issues are gonna be a reality for the ps3 version regardless. Can't wait!

Definitely 3 because it doesn't affect the levels nor the bosses, which are the key points of the game. Easy is a no-no and I don't want another Blighttown chokefest.

Lots of rumors and new info around. I'm mostly exited about the fact that NG+ might have completely re-arranged enemy placements and AI. I'm really hoping it turns out to be true.

Go!
I'll be pessimistic and take them all.

1. I'm quite sure the never running out of healing items will happen in the same sense it happens in Demon's Souls. Only difference will be that using healing items is going to be a lot harder. I heard even Goddess' Blessing takes really long time to use now.

2. 20-22 average FPS is probably guaranteed at least in some areas for consoles. I hope they have been able to improve the frame rate from the network test but I'm not holding my breath.

3. We already know it will be easier to understand the story. As for secrets, they have always been easy mode to find if you play online. Which is why I'm going to play my first run completely offline this time. US players are going to get a head start this time so I'm sure a lot of the secrets will have messages leading to them by the EU release.
evil_ash_xero wrote:This game is rated T!

The rating didn't change for EU or Japan though. Dark Souls and Demon's Souls were both 16+. I doubt anything significant has changed or that From tried to get it a lower rating on purpose.
