On the top of my head, I can think of Project Cerberus, a fighting game that was ported by Milestone.
No idea if it is awesome or not.

Technically not a port cause the arcade version was canceled  I've played it and liked it.

If you're counting shmups, the Gradius Collection and Salamander Collection have a bunch of arcade ports. And there's Dariusburst, too.

Sega Rally Revo isn't technically a port of Sega Rally 3, but it's close, kind of?
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

IIRC the system got a Capcom Classics Collection ("mini mix," I think it was called) - not sure what was on it or how well everything played. Metal Slug Anthology is also on there, but is supposedly plagued by long load times.

If you're into emulation, just about anything CPS1/2, & MVS. (That's really all I use my PSP for nowadays, aside from worthy SMW & Super Metroid romhacks.)

Sonic Wings Special is a console game, BUT it's in tate and reportedly PSP buttons can be assigned so it's playable on a vertical screen there. I recommend Hard difficulty level from the word go (the first stage boss is all the merrier for it).

I'm afraid those can be pirated at best on the PSP, but you can't go wrong with Namco Museum series. The only Assault port out there and then some.

Wolf Fang.

Word is Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars is quite playable with the PSP's d-pad.
