Dead Pixel laden PSP customer return horror story at my local Wal-Mart -- read on.....
--------------------------
Yep, I do have a PSP with the required firmware version 1.50 alrighty...bought it back in May 2005 with absolutely no dead pixels (was the fourth one I had gotten after returning the first three PSPs back...the customer service at my local Wal-Mart when returning a PSP was a bitch -- they had to check to see if the PSP's internal battery serial number matched with the serial number on the outer PSP factory box {which didn't and raised some confusion hell} and then they said they weren't going to take it back...they then found the serial number that they were looking for {which is located under the the PSP's battery, you dumb fucking asses for Wal-Mart associates} then, I finally got my $$$ back...had no problems returning my PSP at my local Target store because of dead pixel problems).
I was personally told by a Wal-Mart associate that they had to follow special procedures when taking back Sony PSPs...if the serial numbers don't match, then no refund period. Well, if two different serial numbers don't match...they could be seperate serial numbers for the PSP unit & the PSP battery respectively. Wal-Mart my ass, your customer return service sucks big time...
I recall that NEC even rejected a non-single working pixel on it's GT & Turbo Express handhelds before selling them...they wanted them to be 100% working pixel perfect...my Turbo Express has no dead pixels whatsoever...the one & only one I've got (bought it brand new back in February 1995 for $100 USD when retail stores & mail-order businesses were trying to get rid of their NEC TG-16 & Turbo Duo hardware/software stock at cheap ass prices). Back in late 1993 and into early 1994, some Toys-R-Us in the USA were selling their remaining NEC produced Turbo Vision TV Turner Adapters for use with the Turbo Express for a mere $39.99 USD (a steal at that price when the retail price of one was at $99.99 USD back in January 1991).
Of course, the NEC Turbo Vision adapters were distributed in limited numbers and sold in certain speciality gaming markets...the Turbo Express is considered the "Rolls Royce" of portable gaming handhelds while the PSP is more akin to a modern day Super Sports Car (i.e. a Dodge Viper GTS-R) in terms of CPU speed and graphics-wise.
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~
