I was really disappointed with the XBLA version, it is horrible, I hope this is done properly.

Would be epic if they could release the anthology all in one go, played shoot many robots but it just doesn't compare to the MS series.

Forced super eagle engine filter. The controls are not configurable. There is no way to adjust the screen dimensions.

Am I the only person, who realizes the entire series, is arcade machines?

I would rather SNK make a donation bin, to all the people who really liked Metal Slug and had fond memories of the arcade games. Even the GBA game ( which is original, and has original bosses, while reuse sprites ), is more realistic, then Steam. Of course with Steam SNK ( or me or you ) can let consuemrs know their products exsist, and what they are ( advertising ), and not let them die on the shelf like Dreamcast games.

Steam have it's place, but re-releasing a port, of an arcade game, is not the most wisest move in my opinion. Releasing it on the Sega Saturn made alot of sense, when we had 100mhz to 500mhz computers, that used 56k, makes sense, and not only that you can actual own the product?

If they were to release a new Metal Slug game on the Sega Saturn I would buy it like no tommorow.

Why? Because Microsoft works for the goverment, making below the belt OSes, Apple killed Steve Jobbs twice and turned to intel, to make computer more virus freindly. Cellphones are all downloadable systems. I do not even see the harm in making a GCN version, but I doubt anybody would even think about that. Microsoft and Square attacked a guy for making a port of Chrono Trigger and other independent X-box projects. To make things worst Microsoft wants you to buy their dev packages for consumer, or pay thousands of dollars for a dev package. To make things even more worst SONY sued lik-sang, and forces you to sign a TOS, and both PS4 and 360 have death lights. The Wii.....is a kids console, and Nintendo does not want blood sprites. The PCE while awesome and all, is lacking the program support to make crazy games like MSX. The Genesis on the other hand might be doable, because it has the Raw power stand alone, or even like the 32X can be upgraded, but just to keep things simplier and cheap the Sega Saturn can do 2d like no tomorrow, and phuck the SNES unless you want to build a 32X PCB. Just to be fair the Dreamcast is alot more easier to program, and has a small community of sellers, like the PCE but they are more open, and do not have jerky Y's people, who can't agree on what is Cannon, from what is not Cannon, so they bow down to the mighty falcom, who drawer the PCE release in favor of the watered down SNES games, because Adol have kids, blah blah blah, and you support NEC PowerVR for the Dreamcast.

In short I would but a PCE, Sega Saturn, or even Dreamcast release would suit me, for the win.

Full Metal Panic ( a three series comic and animation from Japan ), did the third series as a response to current events of the Oriental ( North Africa, India, Georgia, Mountain Asian region ) wars. However they just call it some other land, why not Metal Slug?

Sadly, I believe the days of the PS2/wii anthologies are behind us. Why give us Metal Slug 1-6 at a reasonable price, where there are no shortage of people who will pay vastly more buying them individually? :(

Arcades are PEOPLE. Promise me you'll tell them they're MADE OF PEOPLE. You gotta tell 'em, for the win.

This is pretty deep. I feel like we need to explore this topic more.

I talked to someone who's in the beta/pre-release and he says it's a 1:1 arcade port. He says netplay isn't perfect yet but it's still as good or better than playing it on Supercade or GPPO.

Dunno how accurate that is, but take it as you will. I expect it to be at least better than some of the other recent ports.

It's DotEmu, again. I think we are familiar with their track record on PC by this point... Although having a beta could make a difference.

Also, it's almost certainly going to be along the lines of their existing iOS port to some degree. See the revamped character select screen.

Maybe, but the fact that SNK is putting some effort in packing decent netcode with their newer games, makes it feel like hell has frozen over.

Since a lot of arcade/retro releases on Steam are very crudely put together I'm not interested in it. I love the Metal Slug series though, but I already have the anthology on my PSP and PS2 so I'm happy with that. It'd be cool for people trying it for the first time, I suppose - and maybe SNK will make some actual money for once :P
