Does anyone have a solution to replace an obscure remote?

I recently picked up an old sound system (the REOC HT60 5.1) for cheap for most of the various things included like speaker cables, but it didn't seem to come with the remote, which is really annoying. There might be some universal remotes for it like the Elmak Oscar Pro:

But even with that in mind, is there any simple way I could get a remote for this thing?

One of the Logitech Harmony models should do the trick:

You can teach it codes from an existing remote, or you can download codes to it from an online database (it connects via USB to your computer).

I've found codes for off-brand Chinese media players, air conditioners, hotel TVs, pretty much anything. You might be able to check the database for your device before you take the plunge, otherwise just buy it from a place where you can return it if it doesn't work out.

You can buy a programmable computerized remote. Basically it looks like a Palm Pocket, or cell phone, and you can program it to do all kinds of things, like drive race cars, open a garage door, and do all of the fancy things with your media center.

Otherwise you can find an decent looking remote like somebody mentioned earlier, and see if it can be programmed. Some models have simular controls, so a simular model might have controls, for it.

Yes, all the remotes are compatible with any of the codes in the database.

I believe the only differences are in the number of devices you can program as well as the button configurations. The more expensive ones will have more "hard" buttons, whereas the less expensive ones use "soft" buttons in conjuction with the screen.

That's the way they used to be, anyways. These days I think their product lineup has changed a bit, and I think some models even have RF functionality built-in.
