I played garegga for the first time in 2002 iirc, it's not like it came over night.

Not the most impressive of clears, but I just 1CC'd Jamestown's Gauntlet mode on Legendary difficulty.

Some context: Gauntlet is the mode that actually puts all the levels together as a single arcade-style run. Legendary difficulty my sound impressive, but Normal difficulty is insanely easy, and only three levels. Difficult difficulty is a touch harder on the bullets patterns etc, but just four stages. Legendary ramps up the difficulty a little again, and lets you tackle all five stages.

I 1-lifed it to the final stage, which was well needed for when the final boss reforms after you initially down him.

Great stuff. My first ever 1CC, and still my favourite! Which version, Japan or US?

Thanks! Japan board on defaults. I actually almost did it without even realizing there's a physical 1UP in the game haha. I was disappointed that it doesn't say anything different on the scoreboard too... it only says stage 5 ._.

I hope to finally have it looped by the time I get my cab ;)

edit: score was posted up in the hi score thread

Japan board - good work! I debuted with the slightly easier US version. Got the Japan one eventually though.

The beauty of Progear, of course, it that there's so much more to get from it beyond the 1-ALL or 2-ALL in terms of tuning in your scoring. If I could only have one shmup, it would be Progear. Good luck with that 2-ALL!

thanks! and if I were in the same boat, I would totally choose Progear too. It's honestly my favorite game (I ranked it on the top tier of the shmup voting) which is why the grind for the 1-ALL wasn't bad.

I was under the impression that I had already cleared Dariusburst fighting Thousand Knives, but apparently I was wrong. So I went for it, route ABDFI, and just got the clear. And then my PSP decided to freeze and turn off while saving the replay. Nice.
But it's ok, I'm happy enough with the clear. Thousand Knives is a respectable final boss, while Hungry Gluttons mostly just sits there taking damage and recharging your laser. I almost no missed the run, but the last of those damned curving lasers got me.

I don't know if I want to go for the other routes now. The prospect of eventually fighting Great Thing kind of scares me.

I did it. I cheesed to the very end but I did it. PCB Normal 1cc.
Reached the last pattern with no bombs and one life in stock. Missed really quick and then bombed after every wave in order to get the point items and reach the 1k extend and from there on just bombed/bordered through everything while praying I don't die.

I'll probably keep trying until I can get a 1cc with at least a couple of lives in stock, just for the sake of it(aiming for a respectable score with SakuyaA feels rather pointless). I still do lots of silly mistakes from the Prismriver fight onwards and shamelessly bomb through most of the Yuyuko fight.

I finally got my first Touhou lunatic 1cc!

Mountain of Faith. Before I kept making it to the final attack (Virtue of Wind God) with two lives and dying. I practiced and formed some new routes as well as learned to dodge a bit better against Momiji, and managed to make it to VOWG with 4-5 lives left over. Probably not as satisfying to clear that spell after dying on it 3 times, but I'm certainly glad I can now start looking at the other Touhou Project games on lunatic with some confidence.

Great job ^.^

I just broke my TW3R record, and reached 2-4 for the first time! :D

Congrats on your first clear!

Keep in mind that world class scores in shmups take much longer to achieve than good speedrun times. But with solid play you can surely break 30mill after a year or so (which is far away from the WR).

Does it? Ikaruga is an easy game, but going for the WR is of course a different story (but that doesn't matter for live events anyway).

Well I guess not if the second quote is talking simply about clearing, but I somehow got the idea it implied good chains as well. I haven't played the game much myself (I plan to) but getting good chains of everything feels rather hard, even if you aren't after absolute perfection.

Of course chaining is more difficult than survival, but compared to DDP chaining and the like, Ikaruga is a very, very forgiving game. Not only can you skip harder chains if you don't feel like doing them, but the penality for breaking your chain isn't that bad either.

Finally! My first real CAVE 1CC!

Mushi Futari Black Label - UME 0.151 (Blitter: 63%) - Original Mode - Reco
nesrulz - 219,797,765 - All

Replay - UME 0151 ("cv1k.c" & nonag) (32&64Bit).

I have a problem with playing a replay (inp) records, there is desynchronization @ Stage 2 - Mid Boss, probably because blitter 63% option. I'm trying to find a solution, because I want to make a video...

EDIT #1:

Here's the "solution"...

After testing and research, I realized that the replay (inp) with blitter option can not make it work properly (desynchronization), which is why I forced myself to chasing 1CC again, but this time I recorded directly to video (avi) file.

Almost 1cc'd Ketsui's first loop today! Very nice progress. I died really stupidly at the end where I thought I could squeeze through a gap but I couldn't so no clear for me today. Maybe next time.
