Well, this is a bit concerning.
By the looks of it, I might be confined to options #1 and 4. #1 being the most difficult, 4 being the most time consuming.

Re: NESRGB board available now
Missed out on the first batches, basically deciding to buy one pretty much the day after it sold out
A guy is offering to sell me the one he bought for the same price as he paid, but unfortunately it's from the faulty shipment, and I don't have either the tools nor the equipment for either of the two possible fixes
So at the risk of being yet another nagging annoyance, is there any way I can sign up to get an alert the very moment these pieces of wonder will be available for ordering again?

Anyone have the updated file to flash to the nesrgb boards? I've got a programmer that is ready to go, and want to get this updated for some folks.

To everyone else, Tim e-mailed me the other day answering a couple questions. He said he is still figuring out the mailing of the USB Blasters to the different regions and was emailing each at a time, from what I gathered. Anyways this could be a pretty slow process

Well, i thought i would be able to use my jr programmer for 360 mods to be able to jtag this. unfortunately i can't seem to get the programmer to be seen anywhere but jrunner, and i can't flash the file from there. guess i'll have to wait to get the altera usb blaster i ordered earlier before i can go any futher. thanks for the file though.
Re: NESRGB board available now
Honestly, I'd offer to have you buy it from him, send it to me and I'd reprogram it free of charge and just charge you to ship it forward to you, but in reality, the USB blasters are only $15 shipped from China, so it wouldn't really save you any money to do that... I'd just buy that guy's board and get the blaster for $15 instead of waiting for the next batchSumez wrote:Missed out on the first batches, basically deciding to buy one pretty much the day after it sold out

Re: NESRGB board available now
Why don't you guys get your own Blaster from ebay, there's a link on a page 44 (third post) for some cheapys at 15 US dollar shipped, shouldn't be much different to Aboot-land i think?BYD1978 wrote:@opt2not: hey just signed up to the forum to get involved in the actionopt2not wrote:Well, this is a bit concerning.![]()

Only thing is you need to make your own "connector" so you can attached the cables to the NESRGB board, mine should arrive next week and will McGyver something extremely basic together, could post some pics.

So don't buy it from china for hilvede man! These i described are from the UK and ships within 24 hours, takes about a week to reach Sweden.
Re: NESRGB board available now
Well.. any of you Swedes getting a "blaster" happen to be in Malmö, by any chance?

Re: NESRGB board available now
Sumez, im located in Gävle unfortunatelly.
But if anyone is passing trough, ill be glad to reprogram your board for free!
For the sake of the community and to help Tim

By the by, it is my RGB board Sumez is thinking of buying. If anyone else is interested it is up for grabs. I haven't even opened the box it came in.

Re: NESRGB board available now
I got an email as well about the programmer. I'm not even mad though, we can have RGB without having to rob a playchoice 10 of it's PPU. I just hope the negative backlash he doesn't stop production. I should have ordered two, but I know I am going to want one for my toploader.

Yeah i see no reason why Sumez can't take part of this Blaster postage program if he goes ahead and buys Kamiboy's NESRGB. Postage between denmark and sweden is usually a breeze.

If I do manage to get my hands on a USB blaster, I still want dipskamiboy wrote:By the by, it is my RGB board Sumez is thinking of buying. If anyone else is interested it is up for grabs. I haven't even opened the box it came in.

Side question: Anyone know if it's possible to install the NESRGB in a US top loader (including the adapter board) on top of a socket (so you can easily replace it in the future if there are any issues), and still have enough space to put the top of the case back on the console? It looks like it's gonna be too tight to fit, but I think I saw some pictures of someone who did use a socketed PPU.

As long as the headers and sockets are short you can put one on the mobo and on the ppu.Sumez wrote: Side question: Anyone know if it's possible to install the NESRGB in a US top loader (including the adapter board) on top of a socket (so you can easily replace it in the future if there are any issues), and still have enough space to put the top of the case back on the console? I showed fitting it in in a top loader in one of my YT vids.
Re: NESRGB board available now
Hah, that was probably your video I saw. I have no idea how big my PPU socket is, it looks pretty standard
Got it for my playchoice chip, but now I want a better solution for it.

Re: NESRGB board available now
Has anyone been able to successfully reprogram their boards yet? I've got a USB Blaster on hand but I can't get the Quartus II Programmer software to recognize it. I've installed the USB Blaster driver that came with the software and Windows sees it fine but the programmer software will still only let me add ethernet blaster hardware, not USB blaster.

Re: NESRGB board available now
McCracAttack, i had it installed on a Win7 and Win8 computer, it wouldnt reconize the "usb-blaster" for me. Tried my old laptop with WinXP 32bit, and it worked instantly.
Re: NESRGB board available now
Hmm, so is the problem 32 bit versus 64 bit OS, or newer OS (Vista) versus older OS (XP)?
I do have an ancient Windows XP PC floating around but I imagine not everyone does...

Re: NESRGB board available now
I'm actually trying it with XP now and the software hangs at the splash screen when the USB blaster is plugged in. Update: Well I was able to get the software to load by unplugging the blaster while at the frozen splash screen. Lo and behold it recognized the (now unplugged) blaster and against all reason I plugged the blaster back in and tried the reprogramming anyway. Naturally it failed with the following error:

Also, thanks for chiming in with what you knew nesfreak.
Re: NESRGB board available now
I just got through installing Sparky's NESRGB, and aside from the background problems, I'm floored with how fantastic it looks! Can't wait for the programmer to arrive...
Re: NESRGB board available now
It looks like the version that Tim supplied is Quartus II version 11.1.
The Altera website currently has a version 13.1. There is a free version and a licensed version, and the licensed version gives you a 30 day trial.
https://www.altera.com/download/sw/dnl-sw-index.jsp
Newer isn't always better, but perhaps you could give version 13.1 a try. You may need to cleanse your system of 11.1 prior to installing 13.1 - I am not certain. I haven't received a Blaster yet, so I can only make suggestions based on what I see on the web.
