I didn't go into the version numbers so as to keep the list manageable. If you play 1.5 rate as 1.5. I am assuming the latest revisions when black label is not specified.

This. It's not just a rebalance/tweak like Futari 1.01 vs 1.5, it's a completely different game with revamped mechanics, particularly the Max modes you can select.

Fun idea. One nit-picky critique though, given the fixed default order of the list. If you are indifferent to two games and dont actively change the rank, one will always be ranked over the other. So games placed high by default will benefit from this, I think, making the poll a bit biased.

Ok I put in the two versions. Assumed original listing was 1.5. So 1.0 has no rankings yet. Should smooth out once more responses come in

Yeah I was surprised too. Maybe it's just not played so much.

Agreed that would have been better. This crappy site I used doesn't have that option, so I'll just have to let it run as-is. Maybe someday I can make a better one but I don't want to spam.

Why are there separate listings for Akai Katana and Shin, but not for Deathsmiles II and IIX? Just as I ranked Shin much higher than AK "Vanilla", I would put DSIIX well above the original version.

I contributed but I always hate things like this. I mean, Deathsmiles above Espgaluda, Guwange and AK Shin - it's just hopeless.

Uhh, I think you added Futari 1.0 or Futari 1.5.
Mushihimesama 1.5 is the one I was asking for... it's a revamp of the first Mushi, but came out years after. I think it's their second most recent PCB release, right before Saidaioujou.

I'm probably alone in this, but I actually think all variants should be lumped together. The whole "it's a completely different game" argument always seemed like a joke to me. Plus it would streamline the list quite nicely. The fact that games are getting sporadically added kinda muffs it up.

Can't say anything about AK Shin since I never played, but IMO Deathsmiles beats Espgaluda and Guwange - especially Espgaluda, which is overrated

That's cool, and I agree it's a bit redundant to post another cave-specific ranking, but those results only tell you about good games. They don't tell you anything about the games that didn't make the top list - bad or average games are interesting to rank, too. I like this view because it showed me at a glance what some of the games are to avoid, or if I liked one game, I can see what others are in the same tier of quality.

Of course it's all subjective and unscientific, but it's just for fun.

IMO Deathsmiles is such a second rate underling to all the above mentioned it doesn't even deserve to sit nearby, let alone above.

Espgaluda isn't overrated either.

All CAVE games are good. People have made the best of modern smup games.
It is difficult to sort them in the order...

My favorites are SH-3.

Poor Deathsmiles 2. A great game maligned for having the ugliest graphics of all time.
