Sonic Jam for the Saturn, $2000.

Come on now.... it's rare but not THAT rare.

you can buy still-overpriced US copies for $50, and I've seen Japanese copies go for around $15.

I just sent them an offer of $2. Wonder if they'll counter offer or realize I'm just pointing out how stupid their price is?

Sellers never realize how stupid their price is, because to them, it's not a mistake. They know somewhere, someone will pay that much for it, and so the price stays as is unless it goes unsold for a very long time. Then maybe... just maybe... it'll drop a little.

First time I saw this, it went for 7,000 yen and I was like "maybe it'll be cheaper next time."

It just keeps getting worse. I think my DQ vinyl collection will be forever unfinished.

Does it even still work? How can you grade a handheld game accurately if it hasn't been tested? Sure, it looks pretty unopened, but it might as well be a pretty paperweight if the insides are destroyed cause a capacitor or battery decided to leak and ruin the game. :/

To be fair to the VGA, their acrylic case is intended to be an IMPREGNABLE FORTRESS OF PRESERVATION which still lets air circulate so oxidisation will occur anyway, cough cough. So short of savagely beating yourself to death with one in a fit of post-epiphanic despair, content functionality probably isn't implied!

fixed :)

Also, I'm not sure you'd want it to work. I had one as a kid, and if memory serves, it was pretty awful.

Hell, it might even have never worked in the first place if it's never been out of that hand-slashing plastic. But let's put it in another sealed container as if that kind of horrific packaging isn't impregnable enough. What a bizarre hobby sealed collecting is.

I'm pretty sure this might have been posted already, but it forever puts a smile on my face.
Especially the "Will be delivered by hand" one.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

The guy has sold 19 of them!

What exactly is that in U.S. dollars? Because that sounds pretty crazy.

Can that be done? That's something to look out for. I bet that sellers would try to abuse that tactic, by selling some things at a low price and then changing it later to make it look like their new price is a crowd-pleaser.

Speaking of the Tiger Handheld sealed rarez, I found a 1989 Batman-themed one with the plastic carefully cut by somebody and preserved, so you get practically all the fun of the original packaging (cardboard insert and all) while still getting to the game. Almost the ultimate win-win in my book, except it's still that damn plastic package - even if it's cut so you don't risk a trip to the ER when you give it a prolonged look, it's still awkward.

Whoever thinks that sealing games and grading them turns them into priceless artifacts deserves to be dragged behind a car and then beat up with tungsten pipes.

Dang, that's seriously tempting, and less than 200 miles away. If not for the fact that I have basically zero space for a cab right now I'd have to seriously consider grabbing one of those Astro Cities.
