Many thanks Keres, emphatic, Jonst and KAI! This was hands down the toughest 1cc that I've gotten so far. Been playing the game on and off for about 8 months so it feels really good to finally get the ALL and letter score with Golden Bat. Now it's time to see how far I can take it

So this one isn't technically a shmup, but I did one credit clear Contra: Shattered Controller with an A rank. This one is special for me since it was the first game that I ever tried to beat on one credit.

As a side note, the Total Battle Time displayed is missing a large chunk of time practicing the game. I'd put the total number of hours closer to 20, not including the time spent playing the game back in 2002.

Shattered Soldier is hellishly hard, specially while maintaining a high rank. I just gave up on it after a while and went to play Neo Contra instead, which is so easy it shouldn't even count.

Thanks guys. It did take a while mainly because I started as a Miyamoto player, but with decent scoring, rank was too much and I couldn't get past BHmk2.... for YEARS. Then I switched to Gain, similar story.

After I watched BER play a live run via stream from Alamone's meet last weekend I decided maybe give Golden Bat a try... three sittings later it all came together. Picked up no bomb frags in stage 1, no flamingos, and then start the suicide/medal game up until stage 6. Learning where you can set up a special homing option is key (where to drop 5 bomb frags). They helped me a lot in stage 5, 6, and even 7 (until BHmk2).

Ahhh.. so happy. This was hardest earned clear.

Chempop: your clear is an inspiration to me because I've been using Golden Bat since I started playing and I never see any other players use anything beside the bonus characters. I'll have to keep at it

Congrats, chempop! Yeah, learning how to get the homing options on stage 6 is essential with Golden Bat. I also try to get the rapid fire as well during stage 6 if I have kept rhe rank somewhat in check up until that point. Rapid fire is not as important as the homing options but it's nice to have on stage 6 & 7 imo. Especially on BHmk2 so that you can shorten the time that you have to deal with his shinanigans.

About 2 months ago I did a 1 life clear of Mr Driller 2 on PCB and got my 2000m badge.

Its taken 3 or 4 years to accomplish this. I've never done it since, so it was obviously a lucky draw.

Wow, I just 1cc'd DDP:DFK after not touching it for an entire year and for the first time ever made it to the second loop, 2-2.

So my base skill for shmups has actually increased, I can now call myself an intermediate player but not too close to expert. instead of beginner
