I suppose they were surplus inventory Sony had left from the Assassin's creed bundle, which could be why they weren't shipped in reguar PSV boxes either.

Yeah, that went quick. I didn't want/need the white one, and I wanted the game with memory card (small though it may be, obviously), but there's no denying that it's a pretty little beast. They sure didn't last long at $199.Friendly wrote:That was me, you are welcome.professor ganson wrote:Someone here pointed out that white ps vita on amazon, and I just had to have it. It came in a nice, simple white box that I like as well.

If you're concerned about framerate, don't get the Worms game on sale. It never goes higher than 20. Also, forced tutorials.

Feb has Ys MoC whilst March has Final Fantasy X. There's just too much good stuff coming out. And not enough time.
I know that the 3DS has its fans (because of Nintendo) but as stated previously, the 3DS is most definitely surplus to (my) requirements.
I think aside from Zelda ALBW, there is absolutely nothing on the machine that I actually want.
Vita however? So much gaming goodness!

Did you play Ys Seven on the PSP? From what I've experienced of Celceta it's a lot like that, so if you enjoyed Seven then you should like this one.Is Ys Memories of Celceta any good??

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Because of your statement, specifically about this game in this case, I've looked into Dragon's Crown, and I have to admit: it certainly does look pretty appealing to me. Looks like some favorable comparisons with stuff like Capcom's D&D arcade series, and the videos I've watched have been pretty nice-looking.ZellSF wrote:It's an action RPG (with the action part being a beat'em up).boagman wrote:Yeah, but...it's still an RPG, right?Cuilan wrote:
I'll second this.
Dragon's Crown was originally intended to be Vita-exclusive back when Sony was still the publisher, and it really shows when you think about the game design elements mentioned above.
You're severely limiting yourself by avoiding any game that has RPG elements in it. It's a VERY broad range of games you're avoiding.
Not sure I'm willing to drop $40 on it, but it's definitely on my radar now. Thanks.
Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
It's my favorite game on the Vita. It's actually the one reason why I even bought my Vita, back when it was expensive. Well, Nihon Falcom in general is why I got it early (I also grabbed Zero no Kiseki Evolution, and Sen no Kiseki later on).Phellan Wolf wrote:Is Ys Memories of Celceta any good??

Definitely do give Ys a try. This installment takes everything from Seven, and makes it better, IMO. Plus it's an official Falcom take of Ys 4.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
So I just received notification that my Dragons Crown on Vita just shipped, which means I should receive it tomorrow or Monday.
I'm also down to my last copy of DC (PS3) which I assume will be sold by the week's end. So that's 4 copies bought for around £30, and then sold off for around £80 (after commission). Result.

HMV (Oxford St - London) was closing down and was selling a lot of its stock for 80% off sale price. DC (PS3) was 80% off £37.99 (about £7.60), so I grabbed 4 copies.
The Vita version was allegedly about £10 but was sold out by the time I had managed to join in with the scavengers.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Well, I just bought a Vita, an 8GB memory card, and Ys. I'm not going to wait for the Vita 2000.
$115 for the Vita after shipping. Also, I got a new PSP [this will be my third -- my first one was given to me for free, my second one I bought, and now I'm getting a new 2000].
The deciding factor for all of this was that my PSP outright longer works now. No display, no sound when I try to turn the volume up to see if it's sitting at the XMB without display, nothing.
So, within the next two weeks, I'll be enjoying the thing.
The whole purchase totaled to around $240, so I'm fine with what I got.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
So DCrown on Vita popped through my letter box. Art book is quite big, perfect bound with quite thick pages. Haven't popped the seal yet, but will give the game a spin in a few minutes.
Also: on Chapter 17 (out of 21) on Gravity Rush. Expect to complete it by week's end. It's quite dark and creepy in places - and not surprising given that the director also did Siren and the first Silent Hill game. Almost has a Majora's Mask vibe about it at times - just in terms of tone.
Edit: sold all of my PS3 copies of Dragons Crown.
Also completed Gravity Rush. Some of the complaints are definitely valid, in so far as the combat is limited, and that the game feels almost like a glorified tech demo. The story concerns itself on a very macro level, and this is readily apparent through the limited number of people you can converse with. The story is certainly interesting though, and does take many twists and turns throughout the game.
Kat is an adorable hero, and I liked hearing about the main protagonist's day to day problems. I also think the cell shaded look compensates for what is ultimately not a very fleshed out world. Unlike Zelda, exploration is not encouraged, and the world map is confusing to navigate (in so far as not being able to remember town layouts).
The soundtrack however is excellent, as is the art direction. Enemies aren't as varied or as interesting as they could be, but the comic book panels through which the story unfolds is also a welcome delight.
In the end however, I certainly did have fun with the game. Whilst it's not a bona fide classic, I do think the game deserves a play through. Despite its numerous shortcomings, it also has plenty of good things going for it - not least of all the ample amount of love that went into the game. It is because of the evident passion that one is able to overlook the game's flaws and find the means to carry on until the game's end.
So whilst the flying game mechanics are certainly fun to play around with, I do think certain other aspects of the game mechanics need to be examined and tweaked in the process. Luckily a sequel is incoming, so hopefully the development team can realise the potential of what is admittedly a rather flawed gem.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games

TxK release date finally confirmed, as well as Dustforce which looks sort of interesting but I doubt I'll get it.
US region, obviously.
Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
TxK and Olli Olli will be ones to watch out for. Hopefully something similar (with regards to sale offers) occurs for UK.
On a slightly unrelated note: has anyone ever played any of the PSP God of War games on Vita (via PSN)? I'm thinking of picking up Ghost of Sparta but don't know whether to opt for the version on PSN or get the HD "Origins" Collection (PS3).
I hear that the developer implemented dual analogue support for the HD PS3 version. Does the PSN version support the Vita's dual analogue sticks also?

Olli Olli just got a 9 out of ten by Eurogamer scribe Simon Parkin. Probably my favourite writer operating in the field of games today...

Edit: and Borderlands 2 is allegedly March 18.
Safe to say that my Vita is fast becoming my favourite console ever (after the Snes). I thought it would have been the PSP, but it's actually my Vita.

Speaking a skateboarder myself, OlliOlli is great, and Simon's review sums it up very well indeed. It abstracts skateboarding into something nothing like a simulation of the sport, and yet captures the rhythm and momentum of skateboarding better than any game I know. And regardless of skateboarding, it's a fantastic scoring-focused twitch game that is bloody hard at times! If you own a Vita, you should treat yourself!replayme wrote:Olli Olli just got a 9 out of ten by Eurogamer scribe Simon Parkin.
