I think we can all agree that the strategy section is an amazing source of information for us here on the forum, and I personally want to say thanks to everyone who has ever contributed to that incredibly valuable resource.
That said there are still many many games that do not have detailed STs available yet. I'm looking to fix that.
I'm sure you are all aware of the annual top 25 shmups thread. What you may not be aware of is that quite a few of these games, games that we as a community have chosen as some of the best in the genre, have no dedicated ST whatsoever on the forum. I searched for STs for every game within top 25 2012 and found that 9 of the 25 had no ST (including Daioujou for gods sake!) and quite a few others only had STs of specific game modes.
What I am suggesting is that after the results of top 25 2014 are posted, we get together and create STs for any games within the list that don't have them. Basically I want people to volunteer to adopt a game from the list, learn it if necessary, and create a guide for it. We will keep tabs here of who is writing what, in order to avoid two people working on the same guide. The guides don't have to be perfect and you don't have to be godly at the game to write it. The community will help to fill in gaps and errors I'm sure, so please don't hesitate to volunteer. We can all support each other in our writing and make suggestions for what is needed in the guides.
I want to gauge interest in such a project. If you would be interested in volunteering to take up an ST project please post here. I'm personally willing to adopt a game or two and write some guides, but there's no way I can write them all. Please volunteer and help make shmups forum an even better resource than it already is! Hopefully if this goes well we could make it a yearly project.
